BEFORE: "I say all the time," says Cara with a smile, "That I'm better than the vast majority of the managed girls in the FCBA. And, tonight, I'll prove I'm better than THIS one!"
"Delevingne is very good at TALKING," says Kara with a smile of her own. "But, she's about to find out that I'M very good at FIGHTING."
ROUND ONE: O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'I Want Candy' and that voice you hear is the singer of that cover version of the tune, the lovely Cara Delevingne!"
McCarthy: "And, Weirdo's been drinking too much of that swill he calls beer, because, while this girl isn't any Chinchecker, she's actually a pretty good fighter..."
Cassie: "No question about it."
O'Dell: "And, Cara all business as she gets into the ring and is helped off with the robe to reveal a neon blue number that has the crowd popping in a MAJOR way. And, that's 'Flawless' by The Ones you hear behind us, and that can only mean that Kara 'The Body' Del Toro is coming to the ring..."
Tess: "Kara's one of those Front Street girls looking to take a step forward this year, and a win tonight might go a long way to getting her there."
O'Dell: "Kara into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve, and the crowd now popping for Del Toro in that neon green number we've seen before..."
McCarthy: "Philly. LOW standards!"
O'Dell: "Aaaannnnddddd, We're about ready for some picks. Tess likes Del Toro. Mac?"
McCarthy: "An actual DECENT fighter ALWAYS beats a Dancing Hooker. Delevingne!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Split panel yet again. And blonde and brunette quickly to work at range, with Delevingne getting that jab going, popping it in Del Toro's face, then looking to follow on with right hands. Front Streeter moving the head and feet, sidestepping the jab and then getting off in combination..."
Cassie: "Some good boxing going on here..."
McCarthy: "Palicki could box RINGS around these two, then knock them both out. On the SAME NIGHT."
O'Dell: "Blonde with a nice combination. Brunette bangs back and lands a solid right hand that gets the older woman's attention. Delevingne responds with a nice flurry of her own. Plenty of action in the opening stanza, and nobody able to take control of this thing at the moment."
Tess: "Lot of hard shot being exchanged for an opening round."
O'Dell: "No doubt about it. We're down to under fifteen in the first, and the ladies still working hard. Sharp exchange and another and a nasty right from Delevingne snaps back Del Toro's head at the bell. Very, very close in the first. But, it's the blonde who gets the points and takes the 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO: O'Dell: "Back to range to start the second, and we're seeing more good, two-way stuff here. Both fighters finding ways to get some offense going, and neither able to establish any kind of control. Instead, we're seeing exchanges where both fighters land solid shot..."
Tess: "And, plenty of good hand, head, and foot movement."
O'Dell: "GOOD right from Del Toro there! She backs the blonde up a step, but Delevingne quickly fires back. She's not going to be thrown over to the defensive here if she can help it. Del Toro bobbing the head, slipping the jab, landing a nice one-two there. Front Streeter getting into some rhythm now..."
McCarthy: "Delevingne just has to keep working. She'll knock this overrated Dancing Hooker OUT..."
O'Dell: "There's a nice combination from the blonde, but Del Toro responds with a barrage of her own, and, once again, backs the older woman up a step. Final seconds ticking away in the second. One more trade of punches, and there's the bell. Close again, but Del Toro's round."
Cassie: "And, we're even at 19."
ROUND THREE: O'Dell: "Del Toro getting control of this thing. She's getting off in combination, tossing the blonde over to the defensive, backing her up, making her cover up. This is good stuff from the Front Streeter, as she's getting things firing on all cylinders and really taking the fight to Delevingne..."
Cassie: "Blonde not getting much done at all..."
O'Dell: "Landing in counter here and there. That's what she's been reduced to at the moment, because Del Toro's fighting lead and showing absolutely no sign of slowing down. Delevingne staying off the ropes, but she's being forced to retreat again and again..."
McCarthy: "Kid needs to start holding her canvas."
O'Dell: "Into the final half minute of the third, and, this isn't just the best round for Del Toro of the fight, this is as good a round as we've seen from her. GOOD combination from the Front Streeter and there's another! Nice right hand counter from the blonde and there's the bell. Del Toro. Wide."
Tess: "And, the brunette moves into the 29-28 lead."
ROUND FOUR: O'Dell: "Del Toro right back to work, coming forward and EATING A RIGHT HAND COUNTER FROM DELEVINGNE! Oh, what a SHOT from the blonde and the brunette is ALL WOBBLY BUTT! Delevingne ALL IN here, winging away, driving the Front Streeter backward, looking to finish this thing..."
McCarthy: "This Dancing Hooker is in DEEP trouble..."
O'Dell: "And, Delevingne knows it. She's sitting down on everything, reefing power blow after power blow at the brunette. She's definitely determined to get Del Toro out of there. Front Streeter backed to the ropes now. She's got the gloves high, rolling with, jabbing back here and there..."
Tess: "Ref watching very closely..."
O'Dell: "Is, indeed. We're down under twenty-five seconds in the round, and Delevingne is going to use every one of those seconds to try to finish this thing...but she's not going to get it done. Five seconds. Good right by the blonde, and there's the bell. Big round for Delevingne, who takes it wide, but Del Toro is still standing."
Cassie: "And the cards are even at 38."
ROUND FIVE: O'Dell: "Delevingne after Del Toro early, walking her down behind the left hand, dropping in hard rights behind it. Brunette giving ground, firing back in spots, at least managing to effect a fighting retreat. But, she's definitely retreating as the older woman presses her advantage..."
Cassie: "Sound stuff from Delevingne. Not pushing too hard."
O'Dell: "Definitely not. And, for Del Toro's part, the legs seem to be coming back. She's able to land a bit more shot than she did in the previous round and isn't looking as shabby, but, she's on the back foot, and the blonde is keeping her there with flurry after flurry of solid shot."
McCarthy: "But, when you don't finish, you always worry about living to REGRET not finishing."
O'Dell: "We're coming down the stretch in the fifth. Del Toro getting stronger as the round goes on, and Delevingne knows it. She's taking no chances here, going back to range and getting her box on. Not going to walk into anything, especially as she knows she's got the round in her back pocket. There's the bell. Delevingne. Wide."
Tess: "And, the blonde pulls into a 48-47 lead."
ROUND SIX: O'Dell: "Second half underway with the two leggy beauties working at range. Del Toro moving very well now, looking to slip that jab and get off in combination like we saw in the earlier rounds. Delevingne working off the left, using it to set up right hands and put together combinations..."
Tess: "And, after three rounds where one of the girls had control, we're back to two-way stuff."
O'Dell: "Definitely are, as both blonde and brunette are getting things working pretty well. There's a SOLID right hand from Del Toro and Delevingne fires back with one of her own and then GETS DROPPED BY A BOOMING RIGHT HAND! Oh, the brunette lands an absolutely DEVASTATING right and the blonde is dropped to her back!"
Cassie (singing): "Turn out the liiiiiggghhhhhtttssss. The party's ohhhhhhhverrrrr...."
O'Dell: "Del Toro to a neutral corner. Delevingne down on her back, eyes closed, not moving. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. It's going to be a formality. Six. Seven. Still no movement from the blonde. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! That quickly, it's OVER! And your winner by KO6 in one-punch fashion is Kara "The Body" Del Toro!"
McCartrhy: "Lucky punch!"
AFTER: O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Kara Del Toro, and, Kara tough fight, but, maybe the biggest win of your career so far..."
Kara: "Well, they're ALL big in the FCBA, but, Delevingne is definitely a dangerous fighter, as she showed tonight. So, it's definitely an important result for me."
Tess: "And, what's next for you?"
Kara (smiling): "Well, we'll have to see what management has planned. I'm just looking forward to getting back to work and getting back in the ring!" |
