Intro:
We kick off tonight's action with a fight between former champion Ivana Baquero and one of the women seen as the future of Aussie boxing Ashley Mescia. Will it be a night where experience proves too much or will Ashley show she is ready to be a contender so soon on her career?

Before the bout Ashley posted on her social media "I get my first chance to box on British soil. Will have to buy a big coat and hope beating Ivana Baquero will warm me up. The future is now!"

While Ivana told BBU TV reporter Kate Abdo as she walked into the BBU Arena "so I have to fight the supposed future of the ACB. I have heard about all these flash in the pans. She didn't prove it against Elisha Herbert and she failed. She will fail tonight too." Nodding to Kate before she heads off. Maybe forgetting that she was once in Ashley's position when she started her career off by facing the then BBU flyweight champion Jenna Louise Coleman.

Fighting time! Ivana walks out first with her coach Taryn Terrell. Ivana walks to the ring with a hard stare aimed at the ring. She climbs through the ropes wearing a red sports bra with yellow stripes down the sides, matching shoes and boots, yellow gloves and her hair tied into a braid. Ivana bounces on her toes as she doesn't look like she wants to take this one lightly.

Ashley now heads out with her sister Olivia and her coach behind her. Olivia is telling Ashley she has got this we they march to the ring. Ashley is wearing a white sports bra with green trim, matching trunks, white shoes and green gloves, her hair is tied into a ponytail. Getting into the ring, Ashley gets a hug from Olivia before she grins as she looks over at Ivana.

The referee brings the fighters together at the middle of the ring for the final instructions. Ashley has her hands on her hips grinning at Ivana, who gives her a deathly stare. They share a quick fist bump before walking back to their corners, ready to start 10 rounds of flyweight action.

Round 1:
Off they go with Ivana facing a problem she doesn't face as badly as this. Ashley jabbing and moving with that height advantage on show right away. Ivana lands a few sweeping shots around the torso of Ashley. In response she is getting hit with flusher punches back into her face.

After a bad opening minute for Baquero, the Spanish star finally times her attack as she slips a straight to come inside with a right to the body of the Aussie, an overhand left follows around Ashley's cheek to twist her head around. Ashley finding herself backed to the ropes as Ivana shows how fearsome she can be.

A push by Mescia opens the gap between them she needs, a left/right hook combos cracks Ivana on each cheek to make her back off. Ashley slams in several straight punches to the face of Ivana to keep her on the outside. Ivana covering up more tightly as marks already show on her face. At the bell the smaller woman is getting to understand this won't be a walk in the park to even get at her foe.

Round 2:
Ashley again starts off beautifully behind her jab, Ivana getting her head knocked back at times to show it has some power behind it. Ivana meanwhile has to think this one through. Soon the former champion deflects a jab to step in with a left hook under the ribs of Ashley. Ivana puts her head down as she works the body of the taller woman.

Needing to nudge of Ivana; Ashley is able to land a few nice shots but she gets clipped by an uppercut as Ivana stays in close. Ashley soon finding herself driven to the ropes as she looks under pressure for the first time in the contest with a hint of worry on her face. Forced to hold onto Ivana to get the referee to step in to break them up.

Back at it they go with Ivana getting clocked by a jab/straight combo as Ashley decides to step up a gear. Ivana again finishing the round poorly as she has to shell up as Ashley is driving her backwards. At the bell Ashley certainly isn't intimidated by the veteran. Ivana nods to Taryn as they discuss having to be careful not to walk into a big punch.

Round 3:
It seems like Ashley can't be stopped from starting the rounds strongly. She pounds in more combos at range to make it difficult for Ivana. Soon Ivana finds herself being pushed around the outside part of the ring as it seems more neutral fans are getting behind the Aussie tourist. Ivana needing to dip down to strike around the chest of Ashley to get back at her.

Things become slightly more evenly fought when Ivana manages to slip a jab to body up to Ashley, landing several punches over the top and to the body. While Ashley has to nudge her back with her left forearm to pound in her punches to the cheeks of Baquero. Who soon has a trickle of blood from a cut bottom lip.

Late in the round a sneak uppercut catches Ashley to snap her head back. Ashley finding herself then driven into a neutral corner as Ivana bares her teeth and rips away at the body of her younger foe. Ashley grabs hold of her and the referee needs to step in to break them apart. Ashley looks a little spooked at the bell as evidently she didn't expect Ivana to come rushing back at her. Olivia assures her she is on top of this contest.

Round 4:
There feels like there is a switch in momentum brewing as Ivana starts to close the gap more earlier. Ashley still lands some crisp shots around the head of Ivana. She takes some hard shots back in return by the smaller fighter. Ivana lands an overhand left on the chin of Ashley before driving her back against the turnbuckles of the neutral corner as Ashley can't hide the slight worry in her face.

After grabbing hold of Ivana to get the referee to break them up. Ashley looks comfortable forcing the issue on the outside. Both women slamming straight punches into faces, the better body punching coming from Ivana as she dips down and lands some stiff straight shots into the torso of her opponent.

Late in the round a right hook lands flush on the belly button of Ashley after she misses a left hook. Ivana pounds back Ashley to the ropes as she throws piston like punches to the body. Ashley looking a little overwhelmed as she takes clean shots to her face when her guard drops down. The bell dings and Ashley scowls at Ivana before walking to her corner. Ivana on the other hand has some blood dripping on her chin to her bust but she still looks mighty focused here.

Round 5:
Getting back up to resume. There's a tentativeness to Ashley's punches and Ivana simply bashes right into her with her shots. Whacking away at the body of the Aussie. Ashley doesn't hold and instead tries to push off Ivana, it leaves her open for a counter attack. A STRAIGHT RIGHT TO THE LIVER SENDS ASHLEY DOWN ON HER KNEES RED FACED!

Oh that punch certainly hurt as Ashley looks to be tearing up. Ivana walks to the neutral corner still looking ready to pounce if needed on her foe. 1....2....3....4... Ashley holds her stomach with both arms. 5....6....7... Olivia tries to give a rally cry to her sibling but 8....9....10 she hasn't the strength to get up!

After:
It has turned out to be a rough lesson for Ashley. Her sister rushes into the ring to check on her. The coach needing to step in and give Ashley an ice pack to numb the pain she is in. Ashley sighs in relief when she feels the chill of the pack on her body. Olivia meanwhile takes her gloves off to hold her hands as the coach looks annoyed they have to sit their holding the ice pack now.

The winner meanwhile looks a little disappointed the fight is over, maybe really in the mood to teach the younger woman a lesson in respect. Ivana fist bumps Taryn as she returns to her corner. Getting a drink after her gloves are taken off. Ivana applauds the crowd even as most were rooting against her part of the way through the contest.

Ashley is helped up to her feet when she feels well enough to stand. She gets applauded by the crowd for her effort. Her first visit to the UK hasn't been how she planned, she has gained some fans though as she smiles. Though she loses that smile when climbing through the ropes. She isn't interested in seeing Ivana celebrate, instead she clearly wants to get to the locker room and forget about this defeat for a little while.

In the middle of the ring Ivana gets her left hand raised in victory by the referee. Ivana nods to Taryn as she is told that she did a good job. This clearly isn't the fight she craves though. The flyweight title is the one she wants but does a win over the likes of Ashley really get you noticed?

Time will tell on that but Ivana is out the ring and heading to the back. She hands her gloves off to a young woman at ringside who asks for them with a smile. Ivana looks to be relaxing and will probably enjoy the rest of the week off to recover before hitting the gym again.
