Leah Francis (Frankies Foxes) vs Alexina Graham (Free Agent)

This will be 36 year old Leah’s first defence of the title she won by beating Gemma Atkinson, her progress having been stopped by a brutal 6 round beating by Joan Smalls, the same Joan Smalls who then knocked out her opponent tonight, 33 year old Alexina Graham in 7 rounds, a fight in which Alexina drew many plaudits, and she may well have too much boxing technique for the busty blonde champion tonight.

Alexina is first to enter the ring, the Nottingham born girl in a red bra and panties set with matching gloves and boots, where she waits for Southampton’s Leah to join her, the champion in a silver coloured basque and knickers, gloves and boots

Round 1

The girls meet up in the centre of the ring, Leah deciding to test Alexina early with a lunging overarm right hook, but the taller girl immediately blocks her lunge and responds quickly and decisively, drilling her left jab into Leah’s waiting face, then following up with some beast-like right crosses, and a left hook, Leah on the back foot, and frankly. Getting beaten up in the opening round, Alexina just ripping punches into the champion’s face from either hand, Leah looking shocked and not doing much in response, trying to counterpunch, but she’s trapped on the ropes, and can’t keep the younger girl off, Alexina using her superior height and reach to dominate and batter her, Leah already bleeding from her nose as the punches crack into her puzzled features, Alexina landing the best punch of the round in the closing seconds as she whips a left uppercut up between Leah’s gloves, the blonde’s head rocking upwards and backwards as the blood flies, the champion just about making it through to the end of a one-sided opening round

Round 2

Leah’s corner report that her nose has not been rebroken, but it’s still seeping a little blood as the fight resumes, and Alexina is quick to make sure Leah is in as much discomfort as possible by hitting her straight on the nose with two sweet left jabs, but she isn’t concentrating on the job in hand, and Leah thuds a couple of heavy right hooks into her body, Alexina writhing and squeaking as the blonde whacks her with a left hook to her liver and a straight right to her belly, the challenger clearly in pain but managing to clinch and stop Leah from hitting her, then she peppers Leah’s face once the referee has separated the pair, but that’s poked the bear that is Leah Francis, and the blonde thumps Alexina hard to her ribs in response, then gives her a hard left hook to her face, the younger girl looking a little unsteady as the round ends

Round 3

This fight continues to see-saw, as Alexina regains control, showing off her boxing skills again as she gets a lovely three punch combination landing in Leah’s face, wiping that smug smile off her lips, and now, as Leah looks to land some good punches in response, it’s more one way traffic. With Alexina’s gloves smacking into the champion’s reddening face, the skin on her cheeks scuffing up from the friction caused by the challenger’s leather, as Alexina hits busty Leah to her body for the first time, immediately getting a decent result as the blonde drifts backwards, and she’s been hurt now, with Alexina really hitting her left cheek hard with a right hook, Leah staggered by that, and she’s looking a bit of a mess as a nice left cross to her nose spreads more blood over her face, Leah struggling to punch her way out of trouble, getting herself half a stride off the ropes, but that’s made her face an even easier target to hit, Alexina whipping in a right hook, and Leah goes down!  The champion is on all fours and stunned, gets up at 7, but she’s not steady, Alexina closing in to hit her some more, but the bell stops her, the challenger looking frustrated

Round 4

If Leah hasn’t recovered, this fight could be over, and Alexina comes forward immediately, the taller girl trying to finish Leah off, but the big girl takes what Alexina has to offer and defends herself stoutly, the challenger not quite able to land a decent punch on the champion’s face, so she switches her attack ‘downstairs’ and gives Leah a good left hook to her ribs, but still not solid enough to worry the big blonde, who retaliates in the same mould, and gives Alexina’s ribs and flanks a bit of a working over, suddenly looking like the tough puncher who beat Gemma Atkinson, beginning to believe in herself again as she takes Alexina on in a huge exchange of punches, and she rocks the taller girl with two right hooks to her jaw, controlling the fight all of a sudden as the challenger starts to look rather deflated

Round 5

This title fight is certainly up for grabs now, and it’s Leah who starts to land more of her heavy body punches on a clearly tiring Alexina, who has maybe not yet recovered from her gruelling defeat by Joan Smalls just four weeks ago, and maybe it was a cunning move by Leah to jump at the chance to defend her title against her now, the blonde now really beginning to hurt the talented redhead, and she’s finding the opportunity to hit her with straight punches to her belly, just as Joan did, and now Alexina looks really untidy, tries to trade punches again, but that’s a clear mistake, because Leah is punching her so much harder than she can, gives her yet more damaging punches to her ribs, and slowly but surely, she’s weakening Alexina’s resolve, the challenger’s guard dropping, but Leah just pummels Alexina’s body some more, with left and right handed punches, suddenly the younger girl an easy target to hit

Round 6

A wincing Alexina is still trying to take Leah on toe-to-toe, the challenger clearly in need of management, because her tactics are just wrong here, as Leah works her over far too easily, hurts her with those right hooks to her body, and now she unloads a left to Alexina’s jaw, and that’s floored her!  Alexina gets up as the referee’s count reaches 8, but she’s not in good shape, and Leah just batters her, the redhead trapped in a neutral corner, and she’s no longer capable of fighting – the referee clearly agrees, jumps between the girls, and he’s stopped the fight, waving his hands and ushering Leah back to her corner as Alexina drops to her knees, hurt and exhausted


Result: Leah Francis stopped Alexina Graham in round 6, and she’s still the BBU English Welterweight Champion.


It has to be said that Leah looked ready for the taking after three rounds, but Alexina just didn’t have the power to do it, and that ultimately led to her defeat.  There will certainly be plenty of English girls who will be interested in taking on Leah next time, the grinning blonde looking ready to party tonight though!
