BEFORE:
"I think both me and Naomi really need this win tonight… so it's probably going to be quite a slobberknocker,” Katheryn Winnick says first with a chuckle.

The Bantamweight blonde and brunette had both entered the press hall earlier looking confident, waving to their respective fans before taking their seats at the table. Winnick had the pleasure of being addressed with the first question from reporters, and she continues:

“Last time we met she was at her peak and she got me pretty good,” Winnick says. “I know she's still the favorite tonight because of the age difference and well...because she won last time, but I like fighting as the underdog. The pressure is on her. I'm hoping tonight I'll be able to get a different result and take her out. That would be quite big for me at this stage. So..good luck to the both of us."

Scott’s been listening this entire time with a smirk on her face. Beating Kat once back in 2020 was and is a huge confidence booster for the Consortium starlet, and she looks every bit as sure of her second victory tonight.

“Credit to Kat where it’s due: she never gives up, she never quits, despite already losing to me once before,” Scott says. “Losing three fights in a row is rough, as I’m sure Winnick can attest to, so she’s absolutely right: one of us is extending their losing streak tonight, and I frankly don’t think it’s going to be me.”

Naomi Scott held the two-inch height advantage during their last contest, and she’s flaunting it as much as she can again tonight, turning her chin up when the two girls meet at the podium for the official staredown. Of course, being more than a decade her junior also makes a huge difference, but Winnick looks as fit as a fiddle and calm in her own staredown pose, her fists raised close to Naomi’s face and refusing to be the first to back down.

Hours later, Winnick is the first to enter the arena, shadow boxing on the stage in her white sports bra and short tights, her blonde hair braided and ready for battle as she bounces her way down the ramp to the cheers of the crowd accompanied by Carmen Electra and the Dollhouse team. It’s clear that the fans are throwing their support behind the underdog tonight, and that’s all fine by Winnick, who flashes a smile when an overeager fan shouts for the Doll to marry him. Perhaps another day, then?

Up next comes Naomi Scott, the 29-year-old English fighter coming off an impressive title run as the Bantamweight champion before falling into a rut against Priyanka Chopra, Natalie Alyn Lind, and none other than Kat’s own stablemate and JMD champion, Bella Thorne. She’s wearing a lace black brassier and white boxing trunks. She, too, waves a red glove to the assembled fans, before making her final preparations in her corner.

Referee orders both women to touch gloves, which of course they don’t, fixing the other fighter with a hard glare before backtracking to their respective corners. There’s the wave of the hand that follows moments later, and HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
As usual for Kat: a slow march forward and hoping to surprise the youngster with her power. The last time they fought, Kat lost her cool and therefore made a couple of unforced errors for herself. This time, however, she’s keeping a safe distance, landing the first few jab combos to Scott’s arms. Scott, as well, is marching in hard and fast, taking the first couple of attacks like a former champ, before unleashing her own jabs and crosses straight into Katheryn’s space. Ladies are more familiar with each other’s fighting style at this point, and they’re blocking and avoiding most of the other girl’s attacks rather than scoring any real points. The exception is Scott’s enthusiasm, which makes her rush inwards a little more often, which Winnick easily disrupts with a parry shot to the cheek here, another avoided hook followed by a return swipe across the chin there. Scott does land her own gloves off the blonde’s body and the top of her head, but Kat takes it by a closer margin when the bell finally rings.

ROUND 2:
Scott’s fighting a little smarter now, as both ladies take it down a notch and try to stay focused on their opponent’s fists. Katheryn’s twitching nervously at first movements, and Scott exploits this unease with plenty of left feints thrown at Kat’s body or head, before a right hand screaming in to batter the Doll’s lips or side and body. Winnick’s getting dinged in there for the first minute, has no choice but to fall back to a safer distance and again dissuade Naomi from closing in with plenty of jabs. It works, for a while, as Naomi takes more damage to her face after getting impatient again and charging, her fast foray blunted when Winnick squeezes another overhand around her guard and into the earmuffs. Rest of the round and both ladies decide to circle, breathing hard, and by all accounts, Kat was the one leading in points again, though Naomi disrupts that lead right at the end, after tossing a couple more lefts and rights into Kat’s body to end the round with a razor thin margin.

ROUND 3:
So far, this fight is dead even, and it’s a testament to how badly both women want the win. Kat obviously has more to prove in this rematch, and she lets Naomi know that fact early with a stiff hook thudded off her stomach, then going up high with a more powerful bang across the arms to shove Naomi back off her tracks. Scott has to reevaluate her approach now, her arms up and head down as she comes charging back in, looking for another opening. Several thuds land on Kat’s body till Scott eats a stray hook off the chin, which dazes her badly! Scott looks shocked as Kat’s about to deliver the knockout blow of the evening, and she raises her arm just in time to intercept the blow! Naomi gets battered backwards for the rest of this round, her head hidden behind her guard, as Katheryn lets out a shout of triumph and gives chase all the way to the bell! A spectacular round for the Doll, who stakes her claim in the sand!

ROUND 4:
Naomi’s not about to give up, however! The first minute sees minimal action as both women dance back-and-forth, exchanging jabs and crosses to the center of the other’s arms and body. Naomi suddenly rushes in after ducking and weaving under another big overhand from Kat Winnick, before lunging at her stomach with an uppercut and then another one swung down the middle to try and take her head off. Winnick barely has time to intercept, gets blasted back from the impact before managing to swerve again to avoid a third overhand from the Consortium starlet. Scott thinks she’s got this round clearly in the bag, doesn’t wait another second before CHARGING in, hoping to end this fight even sooner than last time. However, her fists are missing their marks, as Kat weaves to avoid another hook, before planting her own glove across the English woman’s face, which stuns and rocks her with a grunt. It’s Winnick’s turn to push her foe backwards, heavy hooks crashing in and from the side to batter and bruise her foe, but Scott largely stays calm in retreat, weathering the abuse till the bell rings to save her. A good back-and-forth in the fourth, and the judges are having a difficult time indeed sorting out who took it by a bigger margin!

ROUND 5:
Sound of the bell and the result is any woman’s game! Kat keeps a closed guard, eyes fixed on Naomi’s fists, trying to predict her movements. If this were her previous fight, Winnick would be walking down her younger foe by this point and trying her best to end this. Naomi is grateful, however, for the respite, still breathing hard as she circles and tests Winnick’s defenses with more slapping lefts and rights to the arms, and whenever she gets in too close, Winnick scares her off with a powerful swing towards her head. But Scott is young and foolish, keeps coming in hot, and each time either managing to avoid Winnick’s attacks or take them fully on her guard with a steady embrace. Winnick dings another hook off her forearms before aiming another uppercut at her chin - BUT IT MISSES!! Naomi swerved to the side to avoid the attack, before countering with a stiff blast across the Doll’s face from the side, which dazes her badly! Winnick’s sent off towards the ropes, staggered and reeling!! And Scott’s giving chase, rushing in now and powering more overhands straight into Katheryn’s frame of reference, till Winnick takes another one square to the face, sending her flying backwards with an UGHHH! She loses her balance and CRASHES down to the canvas, meaning it’s a KNOCKDOWN for Naomi Scott!!

Scott lets out a roar, baring her red gum shield as she circles back to her corner, looking like she’s on cloud nine! She clinched the championship through a combination of sheer dumb luck and plenty of hard work and determination, and this recent knockdown attempt is one such example. Katheryn is slowly hoisting herself off her knees, however, looking shaken but equally determined to get back up and into the fight. Scott regards her with a sly smile from the neutral corner, catching her breath with her back leaned against the turnbuckle, her tummy pulsing in and out with fight left over.

Winnick steadies herself by the count of 8, but is having slight trouble responding to the referee’s questions. She manages to nod her head that she intends to continue, and the ref reluctantly waves for the bell to resume this round - there’s still a minute and a half left on the clock! Will she be able to survive another push in by Scott!

Naomi’s hungry though and throws caution to the wind, wading in hard and fast and opening immediately with a step-in blast to the center of Winnick’s arms to throw her back into the ropes! Kat lets out a grunt and attempts to cover up, keeping her head low and hidden behind her arms but then shouting out in pain when Scott goes to her body with more thundering lefts and rights, the Brit fighter torqueing her fists in from either side to get the Doll to weaken her resolve. Winnick’s getting walked down and pressed into the ropes, and no matter which direction she tries to go in, she’s being cut off by the energetic Scott, who continues to pummel her against the three lines of tight nylon. Winnick takes another hook to the side of the head, which makes her sag to the side and then forwards, one hand still gripping the top rope to try and hold herself steady…Katheryn in big trouble, glassy eyed and offering no resistance, staring vacantly into nowhere in particular as Naomi powers ANOTHER hook that SMASHES into her forehead and FINALLY, the referee has seen enough! He LEAPS in to save the battered blonde, and declares this rematch OVER!!

Official Decision: Naomi Scott defeats Katheryn Winnick via TKO5!

AFTER:
A fairytale start to this fight that ends in sweat & tears for Winnick, who sinks straight into the referee’s arms at the sound of the bell, and has little strength to keep herself afloat, collapsing down to the canvas and then rolling onto her back, close to being out cold.

Naomi’s elated, of course, parading about the ring as though the result of this rematch was always a foregone conclusion. The English fighter is back to her winning ways after 3 straight losses, and in fact, she performed even better tonight than when these two first met two years ago, winning after six rounds of back-and-forth action with the blonde back then but finishing Winnick off in just 5 rounds this time.

It’s a modest celebration, however, as Scott mostly ignores her former opponent at the start, being congratulated by her own corner and soaking in the cheers and applause, before showing a small ounce of concern for Winnick and deciding to head over to check on her status.

Winnick is a little grateful at the sight of Scott towering over her with a look of concern, whilst she herself had had to be brought around back to her stool and then smothered with liquids and wet towels to cool off. The two women later share a brief handshake and hug, and Scott promises she’ll still be around if Winnick wants to try a third time to best her, but considering their previous encounter and tonight’s result, it might be best for Katheryn to swallow her pride and look elsewhere for wins at her current age of 44, as Naomi at 29 is only at the start of her prime years.

Scott leaves the ring first, all smiles as she makes her way out of the arena followed by the HISC team at her side. She managed to improve her yearly record to 2-3 tonight, and judging by tonight’s performance, she’s on her way to turning things around for herself after a disappointing start to the year.

Winnick on the other hand is looking crestfallen as she’s helped out of the ring by her team, a disappointing defeat for the blonde who drops to a 1-3 record for the year, and perhaps we’re seeing age finally catching up with her. I guess we’ll have to wait and see where she goes from here.
