BRIE LARSON VS SHAY MITCHELL III

Brie: 32 YO. 5’7 (1.70 m). 29-12-0, 29 KO since 2017, Lookout Boxing

Shay: 35 YO, 5’7 ½ (1.71 m), 38-33-0, 36 KO since 2010, Pretty Little Punchers

Before: “It’s about time we got to the rubber match between us,” says Brie Larson at the prefight press meeting. “She beat me in 2018 when I was with Diamond Boxing, but I beat her in 2019 when I was with Fates Boxing. Now I am hoping that now that I am with Lookout Boxing, my travels have stopped and I can finally prove I am the superior fighter. Nothing personal Shay, but I want to prove I am good enough to beat you twice.”

“I suppose it’s flattering to be some sort a milestone in Brie’s career. I have always said she was a hard punching fighter, “ Shay Mitchell responds, “but I am out to prove I am the better fighter. I certainly mean to fight my hardest to prove that.”

“I couldn’t ask for anything more from you. I hope it will be a real barn burner of a fight!” declares Bree.

“Oh it will be, I can assure you that.,” Shay says with a determination.

Fight Night finds Brie Larson removing her robe to reveal an orange bikini with black gloves and boots (orange laces), blonde hair pulled back in a battle braid. Shay Mitchell removes her robe and is wearing a royal blue bikini with white gloves and boots (blue laces), her hair is pulled back in a battle braid. Both fighters shaking their arms, jogging in place to stay loose as referee goes over the instructions. At last they are able to touch gloves and go to their corners. FINALLY, the bell rings….

R1: Shay moves quickly to the attack. She’s rapidly firing punches that dig into Brie’s midsection, then smite the blonde to the jaw and chin. Brie, roughed up early, falls back to regain her composure, but Shay maintains the pressure. Brie able to block most of Shay’s later head attacks, so Shay goes after Brie hard to the rib cage and belly. Brie tipping forward at the waist which allows Shay to land some sneaky uppercuts to Brie’s chin as the round closes. Brie trying to hold Shay off with her jab., but these do not seem to be slowing Shay down as the round winds down. Brie looks a bit wobbly as she returns to her corner after the bell. Shay wins opening stanza easily.

R2: Brie down showing aggression as the new round begins. Shay is whacked hard to the jaw and clipped to the chin. Shay momentarily stunned, but comes back fighting as Brie tries to follow up. Brisk hard in head shots with both heads getting swiveled, but Shay and Brie hang in there with determination. Now they shift to the body. Brie able to get her strong hooks into Shay’s ribs and belly, but Shay pounding her right back. Grinding body battle rages on until Shay gets more of her sneaky uppercuts into Bree’s chin. Bree falters and gets driven back by follow up hooks, but then she rallies with hooks of her own into Shay’s abs. Bell ends a close round, but the judges give the narrow win to Shay Mitchell.

R3: This round opens with Shay and Brie circling around each other, then stepping forward to engage in a quick punching flurry before pulling back. This back-and-forth continues with punching ranging from head to body and back again. Things staying even much of the way, but then Brie sees an opening and lands big right hand against Shay’s jaw. Shay’s head jerks around in a spray of sweat and then she gets twin hooks to the belly. Shay backing up, mitts around her head . all doubled up. Brie trying to take advantage, but runs out of time. Brie looks exasperated, though she has managed a close win on the judges’ cards for this round.

R4: Brie eagerly charges Shay as the new round begins. She is swinging hard for Shay’s head, but Shay able to duck some and block others with her shoulder. Brie keeps coming and then Shay strikes back! KA-POW! Shay Mitchell right to the jaw freezes Brie and then BAM! BAM! Right/left combo to the chin AND BRIE LARSON SINKS TO HER KNEES! Shay trots off to the neutral corner as ref stands over a stunned Brie and starts counting. Brie snaps out of it in time and manages to get to her feet in time to break the count at “EIGHT!” Brie looking vexed at the trip to the canvas and defiantly waves Shay back in ahead of the ref’s official signal. Shay returns and there is fierce action as Brie fights to answer the setback. Shay mainly working to the body at this point, but still loves that sneaky uppercut in close. Brie striking to the sides of Shay’s head, but can’t seem to rattle the brunette. Shay getting the better of Brie late and forcing her back all doubled up from belly blows. Bell sounds and Shay Mitchell has won this round wide.

R5: Brie and Shay out promptly at the bell and move to the center of the ring. This time it is Shay striking at Brie to the head early and Brie going for the Mitchell midsection. Shay getting hit hard with these Brie Larson belly busters and starts bending forward at the waist. Brie now brings rising shots up into Shay’s breasts as they hang there temptingly. Shay responds with a burst of body bangers of her own. Brie knocked back on her heels, but comes right back and goes toe to toe with Shay in a torso tormenting battle of attrition. Sweat streaming down those straining bodies as Brie slowly forces Shay to give ground as the round is ending which allows Brie Larson to edge out the round victory.

R6: Shay seems to recharge on her stool at the break. She comes barreling out of her corner and catches Brie by surprise with a blitz attack. Brie smashed hard to the chin, jaw and directly into her face and she reels backwards into the turnbuckle of her own corner. Brie hastily covers her face with her gloves as Shay pounds away at Brie’s body. “CLINCH! CLINCH!” Brie’s corner is shouting over the roar of the crowd. Brie finally does clinch and this manages to buy her enough her enough space to get out of her own corner. However Shay doesn’t let her get far. Brie is forced to slide along the roped, just trying to protect her head as Shay slashes away at her to the body. Shay finally able to block Brie in and get her pinned against the ropes. Brie is just huddling there, face buried in gloves as she is worked over and over to the body. Bell sounds to end Brie’s ordeal. Shay looks grimly satisfied as a shell shocked Brie peels herself off the ropes and wobbles passed her on her way to her corner. Shay has won this round in a shutout.

R7: Desperate work in the Lookout corner as the crew struggles to revive a battered Brie Larson. She does manage to leave her stool quickly to avoid getting blitzed again. Shay coming at Brie with aggression as they meet in the middle of the ring. Shay looking to resume her mauling of Brie’s body, but Brie answers with hard right/lefts to the jaw and chin. Shay’s legs shudder from the impacts and she lurches back. Brie managing to clip Shay to the chin three more times in lightning strike punches before Shay gets her mitts up. Brie now going after Shay to the body. Shay whacked hard by Brie’s hooks, but comes back with body hooks of her own. They then get into toe to toe action as the sound of leather against sweat coasted flesh can be plainly heard by ringsiders. Both giving it their all, matching each other punch for punch down to the bell, but judges haven’t forgotten Brie’s early punching points and give her the round by a close margin.

R8: Action resumes as soon as the bell rings. Shay and Brie both come rapidly from their corners. They plunge right back into the up-close-and-personal grinding body battle. T3wo of them are nearly touching their sweaty foreheads and looking deep into one another’s eyes as their elbows are moving like piston rods to slam in the hurt. SMACK! SMACK! SMACK! The sound of those punches landing over and over mixed with grunts of effort quite clear. Crowd is on its feet eager to see if one or the other breaks first. Then Brie suddenly rips a right uppercut into Shay’s chin. CRACK! The blow lands! DOWN GOES SHAY MITCHELL! Shay lands on her butt and then falls onto her back, knees bent upwards. Brie takes a moment to savor the sight and then scoots to the neutral corner. Shay forcing herself to sit up as the referee’s count rises. Then Shay rises to her feet just breaking the count at “NINE!” Referee checks Shay over./

“I’m OK! I’m OK!” Shay can be heard insisting.

Referee waves Brie back in and the blonde immediately drives Shay into the ropes with more gut busting punches. Shay now looks desperate as she tries to slide along the ropes, but Brie now pounding away at Shay to the head. Shay getting battered by like a ragdoll as her arms fall to her sides. She is helpless but somehow still on her feet. AND THE REF STEPS IN! Official cradles Shay to safety as Brie Larson lifts both arms, a big, though weary smile on her face. \

BRIE LARSON HAS DEFEATED SHAY MITCHELL TKO8!

After: Brie Larson is warmly congratulated by Lookout veterans Emily VanCamp. Yvonne Strahvoski and Missy Peregrym. Clearly a big day for Brie who takes the time to go over and check on Shay Mitchell, who gamely assures her that she is fine.

“She told me. ‘OK you won and you are up 2-1, but I am not admitting you are more temporarily superior to me.’ I had to laugh at that. I am sorry we haven’t fought more often. She really knows how to force me to fight at my best in order to beat her. This is a great night for me!” Brie tells the press. “By the way, that sneaky right uppercut in the 8th was me stealing from Shay’s playbook. She got me with that a couple of times earlier, but that time my punch was better and it paved the way for my win.”

This was an exciting fight with the issue in doubt until Brie Larson was able to use Shay’s right-to the-chin in close to turn the fight in her favor. Shay fought very well, but not putting Brie on the canvas in 6th seems like a missed opportunity, but that’s boxing. We don’t doubt Shay will move on from this frustrating loss and that Brie Larson’s career at Lookout is gaining traction. Fans look forward to see what comes next for these two.
