Megan Fox vs. Dove Cameron (Unified Flyweight Championship)

BEFORE:
Two of the best flys on the planet square off as Hall of Famer Fox looks to become a three-time flyweight champion by taking the straps from around Dove's waist. And, the brunette has no doubt about what the end result of this contest will be. "Dove's a nice little story," says Megan with a smile. "Given up for dead and brought back by HISC and she goes on a run all the way to the gold. Well. To quote The Sundays, here is where the story ENDS."
"The only thing that's going to end tonight," says a hard-eyed Dove, "Are Megan's dreams of regaining the belts. It's a new world at flyweight. And, I'm the queen."
ROUND ONE:
Cameron aggressive early. No surprise that the athletic blonde is bouncing around the ring, but, this is no circle and jab kind of thing. She's taking the fight to Megan, bouncing forward, getting off in combination, tossing the brunette to the defensive, then circling away to reset. Fox trying to solidify her front, use her jab and reach advantage, but, it's not happening. The challenger can't get anything going simply because the younger champion is preempting everything with her own aggression. Dove's no sooner finished with a flurry than she's right back on Fox, who can't seem to find a way to slow the blonde down. In the final seconds, Megan eats a NASTY combination that sends a little trickle of blood from her nose and serves as a pretty good microcosm of the first stanza, which goes to Dove wide.
ROUND TWO:
Former champ adjusts. She's getting the jab out now, turning with Dove, snapping the left glove in her face to hold her, then following on with hard right hands. And, soon enough, the brunette's the one fighting lead. Megan's getting her box on, putting punches together well, keeping Cameron off, controlling her with the left hand. Dove's trying to get to spots to get some offense going, but she's mostly failing to do so. Instead, Fox is able to box at range, and she's absolutely DEADLY doing it, landing a huge percentage of the hard shot she's tossing the younger woman's way. Late in the round the brunette backs the blonde up with a hard flurry and steps forward into a BRUTAL left hook that wobbles her, but, before Dove can take advantage, the bell sounds. It's Fox and wide to even things at 19.
ROUND THREE:
Dove quickly at the brunette, wanting to see if she's still feeling the effects of that left hook. And, turns out, she is. With the challenger unsteady, the champion gets right back to what she was doing so well in the first, circling, stopping, bouncing forward and landing a quick, effective combination before circling away and pouncing again before Fox can get anything started. Megan, again, can't find an answer until, about two minutes in, she begins clinching to slow the blonde down. Now, that doesn't do much to help the challenger on the scorecard, but it does buy her some time to shake off the remains of the damage and, just as importantly, run clock in a round that's already out of reach. At the bell, Dove's taken it wide and moved back into the lead 29-28.
ROUND FOUR:
Cue the video of round two. Megan's no longer buzzed, and she's getting back to work with the left hand. She's using her reach and boxing skills to, once again, wrest control of things from the blonde champion, who's spending far too much time with Megan's left glove bouncing off her face, especially since, in most of those cases, a hard right hand immediately follows. Cameron, again, trying to get to her spots and get off, but she's not managing to do much of it. Instead, Megan's in full control, piling up both points and punishment, once again beginning to back the blonde up late. Dove's never hurt, but she's definitely getting touched up throughout and, at the bell, stalks, frustrated, back to her corner. As for Megan, she's taken it wide and evened things at 38.
ROUND FIVE:
Fox taking the fight to the champion. Megan's got the range, and she's making good use of it, squaring up the champion with the left hand, then dropping hard rights on her over and over again. Dove trying to get off, but only managing to do so in spots. BOOM! Right hand, FOX and CAMERON IS HURT! Dove's knees do a shimmy and Fox is all in, winging away with both hands and DROPPING THE BLONDE with a right hook! Fox, arms raised, heads to a neutral corner. Here is where the story ends? Cameron staring up at the referee as the numbers get bigger...but she manages to...JUST beat the count, rising at nine! Ref watches carefully during the mandatory, but waves on the brunette! Fox immediately to work, driving the blonde into the ropes and battering her. Champ hanging on in a high guard, firing back on occasion, just trying to last out the round...and she manages to do so. But, it's a huge stanza for Fox, who takes it 10-8 and now leads 48-46.
ROUND SIX:
Fox in command. She's punishing the still-dazed champion, taking full advantage of her rival's wobbly legs. Dove playing defense, keeping the guard high, giving ground, countering rarely, just playing for time as Megan looks for the finisher. Fox landing hard accurate shot again and again looking to find that "off" button, but, Cameron managing to keep it hidden. But, she's taking a beating, both literal and figurative as the challenger backs her up, punishes her again and again. The good news for the blonde is that she manages to stay off the ropes and stay on her feet. The better news is that, once again, in the final seconds, she lands a hard left hook that hurts Fox, and, this time, Megan actually clinches to stay on her feet. The bad news is, it's far too little and far too late. Fox pitches a shutout and extends her lead to 58-55.
ROUND SEVEN:
Dove determined to follow up on that late hook once again, and she manages to do it. She's coming forward now, despite still looking a little buzzed, throwing a good volume of leather. Initially, much of it lacks power, but, as the round goes on and the champion's legs solidify, that changes and Megan's taking some pretty heavy shot. Fox now doing what Dove was doing in the last stanza, playing defense, giving ground, running clock. She knows she's got the lead here, so she's willing to give away the points as long as she can make it to the bell. For the champion's part, she's now on the "off" button hunt, and being just as unsuccessful as the brunette was in the previous frame. At the bell, though Dove's not been able to finish, she's done plenty, pitching a shutout of her own to cut Fox's lead to two, 67-65.
ROUND EIGHT:
Cameron pressing forward. Fox giving ground, looking to fight in counter. Dove getting more aggressive as the round goes on. She's got the legs all the way back under her now, and she's moving very well, keeping the brunette challenger on the defensive. Megan's also shaken the worst of the damage, landing some solid shots in counter, but that's where she's being forced to fight, as Dove's taken over the lead and is not looking like relinquishing it any time soon. BOOM! Right hand, CAMERON and Fox is STEPPIN' IN FENCE POST HOLES! Cameron all in again, swinging for the fences and DOWN GOES FOX! Megan dropped to her back after a brutal flurry from the champion. Dove quickly to a neutral corner. Megan staring up at the ref, draping an arm across her face when she realizes the number has reached eight and she's not going to be able to get back to her feet! It's OVER and your winner by KO8 and STILL Unified Flyweight Champion, Dove Cameron!
AFTER:
Dove's definitely been in a fight, as her puffy face and cut lips prove, but the champion can still smile after yet another huge victory. "To quote 'Animal House', 'NOTHING is over until WE say it is,' and Mishy and I are nowhere near finished yet. Get used to seeing these belts around this waist. Because, this is where they're going to STAY." |
