Queen of the Beach: Elite Eight

Joy Corrigan vs Amanda Righetti (Partial Report)
(Lioness Club vs Bonzo's Gym)
Results: Lookout; Story: Vassago

Talk about a rough draw! Joy Corrigan was looking to steal all the Queen of the Beach headlines until she realized the p4p behemoth Big Red Train from Utah is her quarter-final opponent. Woof. Odds are stacked against the Massachussets native and she tries to pull the tiger's tail by calling out Amanda: "Hey, how it's going at the desert? I bet you don't have any beaches in Utah?"

Joy Corrigan wears a white bikini set & red gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a high ponytail. Amanda Righetti wears a silver bikini set & purple gloves. Long auburn red hair tied in a half-up ponytail. Both women are barefoot. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds.

Round 1:
Amanda takes it easy as if she wants to see what a true lightweight has on display here. Joy uncertain how to handle the weight difference settles for a mid-distance attack that barely grazes the redhead's flesh when it matters. Righetti in half-throttle mode, almost sleepwalks through the opener.

Round 2:
Lioness entourage believes Righetti can be caught out if she looks too far ahead but Corrigan's early challenge finds a stubborn high guard and she's too wary of the overhand response to keep the tournament favorite honest down the stretch. Amanda still rusty in execution and eats a couple of hard licks come the final minute when the crowd support fuels a sudden charge from Corrigan who maybe steals the round on points following another body assault drive in the closing moments.

Rounds 3 & 4:
Righetti finally jumps into serious action and thumps the blonde around the ring in emphatic fashion. Joy also gets aggressive but bails out when the actress slams a left/right combo on each temple and threatens a front page knockout finish if only a single hand approach is enough to scare the Sports Illustrated model off. More of the same in the fourth... Big Red connects early and often and sets Corrigan into a rushed retreat. Some verbal darts are thrown from the reeling blonde but she doesn't make Righetti blink and the pressure bumps Joy onto the ropes where she slumps underneath more hard body shots in the final minute.

Round 5:
Joy lands a high heater and almost makes Amanda angry... before she channels more body assault success and briefly stuns the Utah native on her heels. An uppercut attempt throws Righetti right off her zone and allows Corrigan to shock the fans with her best spell of the fight as she bangs the p4p queen back to the corner and tries to drill right through her abs. However she just can't find enough power supply to trouble Righetti here and settles for artistic impression value as Amanda still gives her a cheeky smile at the bell: "That all U got?"

Round 6:
Righetti drops the hammer early and fends off another slugging effort from the younger woman. She glues her mitts into Joy's face and leaves her nursing several shiners down the stretch. The sheer volume of all the hits Corrigan has taken begins to take its toll and the blonde grinds to a halt half-way through the sixth while Amanda drops her with a left hook on the ear. Almost effortless knockdown here but Joy is determined to prove she belongs... up at eight and scolding the jeering fans over in the Big Red's corner. Still nothing for Amanda to be worried about as she tries to land that haymaker supreme but runs out of time.

Round 7:
Corrigan refuses to back off and maybe drag the favorite into a durability contest... she wants immediate response and walks into a right cross before another looping shot tags her on the ear and folds face-down on the sand. That was all about the vintage welter power supply and Big Red extingushes the Lioness threat in KO7 fashion.

Vegas experts foreshadow a classic Upton vs Righetti final but they've been wrong before.
