Dove Cameron vs. Chloe Grace Moretz (Unified Flyweight Championship)

(Results: Lookout. Words: Wiz)

BEFORE:

Oh, there are some storylines here, friends. Moretz and Cameron could be seen as two sides of the same coin, both promising teen prospects who got very early starts and struggled some in same. Chloe kicked around as an indie for most of four years, while a girl she beat, Ariel Winter, got management not long after that fight. Meanwhile, Dove moved ahead of Chloe when she caught on with Mirage after two campaigns, but she never got consistent action and found herself back in the indie pool when the stable closed down. By late 2019, Cameron had had three fights in two years and lost them all. Meanwhile, Moretz shocked Jennette McCurdy at Asylum, followed up by upsetting Julianne Hough, and got signed on to LCA. By early 2020, Chloe was an up-and-comer and Dove was an afterthought, especially after Moretz blasted Cameron out in six in May of that year. But, the following February, things took another turn. Dove got the golden ticket, a contract with HISC. It was a huge opportunity, possibly her last, and she did not waste it. Since then, she's won fourteen of seventeen, and, of course, claimed the Unified Flyweight Title, all while firmly ensconcing herself in the elite level of the 110 pound division. So, the blondes have been, in a manner of speaking, trading leads in a race for the past seven years. Now, Dove's pulled solidly in front. But, tonight? Chloe has a chance to pass her once again. And, that's exactly what she plans to do. "She's no different," says Moretz with a smile. "I've watched the video. She's the same girl I beat two years ago. She's got the same weaknesses and she makes the same mistakes. And, tonight? The results will be the same!"

"First off," says a hard-eyed Dove, "I've ALWAYS been better than her. She had all the advantages last time, and I STILL should have beaten her. THIS time? I'm blowing her doors off."

ROUND ONE:

Moretz clearly believes this is, indeed, going to be just like the last fight. She comes right at Cameron like she did two years ago, and, well. That doesn't work. Dove's clearly expecting this and she makes the younger blonde pay for it, stopping her cold with hard shot to the head, then starting to back her up with solid, accurate leather. All of a sudden, Moretz is on the defensive, and that's exactly where the champion keeps her, suppressing most of the challenger's offense with flurry after flurry as Chloe tries desperately to stabilize her front and fails to do so. LCA corner not happy at all and letting their fighter know it, but the younger blonde can't get out of reverse and is still being backed up at the bell. It's Dove and wide in the first, putting the champ into the early 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

More of the same. Dove's got the range down and she's taking the fight to Chloe, who can't seem to get anything at all going. Cameron's piling up both the points and the punish...BOOM! Right hand, MORETZ! Challenger times a counter perfectly and DOVE IS HURT! Cameron rumblin', stumblin', fumblin' as Chloe goes over to the offensive, driving the champion before her and DROPPING HER WITH A RIGHT HOOK! NASTY shot from Moretz sends Dove down on her right side! Chloe quickly to a neutral corner to watch and wait, and, it's a near thing. Cameron barely beats the count and the ref's clearly thinking about it during the mandatory. He waves on the challenger, though, and the younger woman takes the fight to her rival, driving her to the ropes and hammering away as the ref looks in. Dove rides it out, but Chloe's taken the round 10-8 and pulled into a 19-18 lead.

ROUND THREE:

Chloe looking to finish this thing. She's one punch from doing exactly what she said she'd do and repeating her victory over Dove via KO. She's also one punch from becoming champion. So, she's calling in artillery strike after artillery strike as the champion backs and covers. Cameron plenty unsteady as Moretz pours on the fire, and the ref isn't going to watch much more of this, especially after the challenger bundles the champ to the ropes. But, Dove ISN'T the same girl she was in 2020. She's learned a lot at the feet of Michelle Williams, and it shows out in this stanza. Yes, she's on the ropes and taking, but she's got the earmuff tight, she's rolling with, blocking, ignoring the shots dug into her midsection to keep the guard high, jabbing back in spots to keep the ref at bay. That's all the champ manages, but, it's enough, enough to get her through the round. But, Chloe's pitched a shutout and now leads 29-27.

ROUND FOUR:

Chloe still in firm control. She's taking the fight to the champ in every sense of that word. Cameron giving ground, keeping the guard high, fighting back in counter in spots. As the round goes on, Dove is able to do a bit more, putting together some punches, but, she's still mostly on the back foot as the challenger keeps the pressure on, keeps piling up both the points and the punishment. Final minute sees some of the sharpest exchanges of the fight, and, while Dove does OK, Chloe gets the better of things, stays on the offensive as the champion still works hard to stabilize her front. It's more excellent stuff from Mortez, and, when the bell rings, there's absolutely no doubt about the results of the frame. It's Chloe and very wide, too, and the challenger has built a 39-36 lead.

ROUND FIVE:

Moretz forward to start the fi...BOOM! Right hand, DOVE and Chloe is GOBSMACKED! Moretz wobbles, covers up, and now it's the champ who's going all in, hammering away at the challenger with both hands, driving her back into the cables and going to work in a MAJOR way. Dove paying her rival back for all the punishment she's taken in the last three rounds, and maybe for that win in 2020 as well. She's ripping hooks to ribs and belly to try to bring down the guard, then going right back upstairs to hammer away at Moretz's high guard. Chloe hanging on, sometimes literally as she ties up every chance she gets, but the champ has the referee's attention as she pounds away in the late going. The bell sounds before the ref steps in, though, leaving Cameron with a shutout round and Moretz with a 48-46 lead at the half.

ROUND SIX:

Cameron looking to finish after hearing about doing just that in her corner for the entire minute she sat on the stool. She's working the left hand, following on with rights, being very clinical as she backs up a wobbly Moretz, Chloe able to counter here and there as she gives ground and plays for time. Dove getting more aggressive as the round goes on, VERY busy as she bangs away with both hands and DOWN GOES MORETZ! A three-punch combination sends the challenger to her back and this place is going NUTS! Dove quickly to a neutral corner. Chloe staring up at the referee. She sits up at five. Tries to get to her feet and STUMBLES BACK TO THE CANVAS! Chloe on hands and knees at seven. Tries to stand again and AGAIN FALLS BACK TO ALL FOURS and it's OVER! Moretz can't get to her feet and it's OVER! And your winner by KO6 and STILL Unified Flyweight Champion is DOVE CAMERON!

AFTER:

Not a single hint of a smile from Dove in the post. She was on a mission tonight, and, well, mission accomplished. "I TOLD you. She had all the advantages the last time and STILL needed to get lucky to win. Wasn't going to happen tonight. This is HISC'S division, MY division, MISHY'S division. And, we're going to rule it with an iron fist for exactly as long as we WANT to."
