Elite lightweight competition continues with a rematch from 2020 as Fates’s Emily DiDonato looks for revenge for her prior loss to Front Street Boxing’s Katy Perry. In their previous match, Perry took down DiDonato by a KO6, but the two girls have still remained at the top of their games. When offered the chance for a rematch, Front Street and Perry jumped at the chance.

“We always know that Fates girls will give us a good fight, especially at lightweight.” Perry says. “I know I beat Emily the last time we fought, but that was two years ago. She’s still a top fighter, but I want to show that I am too.”

“It’s always good to fight girls like Katy,” DiDonato says, “She is one of the best at what she does. I know I can beat her, and that’s why I wanted a rematch.”

DiDonato is the first girl to make her way to the ring and the model removes her robe to reveal a yellow bikini set and matching gloves, her hair in a bun for the fight. Perry steps out moments later, and the singer removes her robe to reveal a dark navy sports bra and matching trunks with red gloves. The two girls bump fists in the center of the ring and the ref calls for the bell as it’s nothing but respect between these two women.

Round 1:

The two lightweights start by circling each other, Emily primarily launching the jabs and Katy countering. DiDo with a left jab that catches Perry in her mouth, but the singer comes back with a right just beneath her eye and snaps the younger girl’s head backward. Emily moving her gloves up but Katy too quick and she smokes the brunette in her jaw and Emily is forced to clinch early for the break. Emily wanting to circle but Katy wanting to press the tempo, and the singer gets her wish. Katy dodges a right from Emily and drives a left into the Fates girl’s midriff, putting a scowl on the model’s face. Emily with a right back into Katy’s body, but the Santa Barbara slugger is in her element, working mid range blows over the bigger girl’s body. The bell rings and the first round goes to Perry on points.

Round 2:

Perry looking to get in close to DiDonato early on and the singer lands a right into the model’s chest, but the brunette comes back with a right of her own into the older girl’s chest. Perry retreats and the two girls start circling, and DiDo goes to her jab. Katy doing a good job of blocking the blows, but she can’t muster any offense as the model expertly keeps herself at a distance. Emily lands a left into Katy’s ribs and she retreats before the Front Street girl responds, but the singer isn’t fazed by the blow. Emily feints right but Katy calls her bluff and connects with a left into her ribs. Katy goes for Emily’s head but the younger girl is able to to block the blow. DiDo with a short range strike into Perry’s body, and the two girls get tangled as the bell rings and sends them to their corners. Emily evens up the fight on points.

Round 3:

The two fighters settle into their fighting styles and the first minute of the third round is a give and take, Emily working her jab while Katy is on her counters. Both girls score clear blows into their foe’s body, but neither girl is able to get an advantage early. The two girls continue with their Emily presses the tempo, going for a sustained barrage into Katy’s body. Perry winces as leather plows into her midriff, and the model drives a right into her chest. Perry comes back with a right into DiDonato’s breadbasket and now the bigger girl groans. Katy presses her attack, driving for Emily’s head, though the brunette quickly protects herself, and the singer shifts to her body. Katy working body, but the bell rings before she can find more punches.

Round 4:

Both top lightweights with plenty of energy left the two girls are quick to start the fourth and pick up where they left off. Emily still working her jab but Katy’s beginning to duck the blows, avoiding the punches and hammering the model’s ribs. DiDo backs off and Perry resets, carefully stalking the younger fighter. Perry feints left and DiDonato lands a right into her nose, knocking the singer backward and forcing her to plant her feet to avoid going into the ropes. Emily steps forward and DiDonato’s legs give a shimmy as Perry connects with a haymaker! DiDonato staggers backward and on comes Katy! The Front Street girl wallops the taller fighter twice into her toned model body. Emily goes for the clinch but the Santa Barbara Slugger dances backward and the Goshen Goddess is wide open. Katy lines up a left-right combo into her jaw and down goes Emily!

The Fates corner drops their heads with the knockdown and the ref’s count, but DiDonato forces herself to all fours by the count of five. Emily picks her head up to look at Katy, and the brunette gets to her feet at the count of eight. The ref gives the mandatory and waves in Perry. Katy with a right into Emily’s ribs, but the model takes the punch and lands a left into Katy’s chin. The singer is stunned for a brief moment and Emily follows up with a right, but the singer is still standing and the bell rings. Katy takes the round with a knockdown, but Emily still showing plenty of fight.

Round 5:

The fight enters the the end of the first half and Katy exits her corner with purpose, her eyes lasered onto Emily. DiDonato knows that she can’t let Perry pound her body without a response, and the brunette carefully starts circling. The Santa Barbara Slugger feints left and right, the singer doing her best to get the Goshen Goddess to fall for the fake, but the model stays put. Perry steps forward, guard up - and DiDonato splits her guard with a right and gets the singer beneath her eye. Katy caught by surprise but the singer finds a left back into Emily’s chest. Perry shoots out a right hook but DiDonato dodges the blow and connects with a one-two combo across Perry’s jaw and the singer staggers backward, her arms flailing as she tries to keep her balance. Emily’s eyes light up and the brunette connects with a right straight and down goes Katy!

The singer rolls herself onto her stomach and pushes herself up, and now the ref gives her the mandatory. He waves in the model and on comes Emily! DiDo pounding leather into Perry’s midriff and the Santa Barbara Slugger struggles to find punches back into the Goshen Goddess. Emily pounding Katy back into the ropes and working her body over, the singer beginning to bend over. The Front Street corner has a look of concern as the ref watches carefully - and the ref jumps in to protect the singer! Your winner by TKO5, Emily DiDonato!

After:

Emily raises her gloves in triumph as Katy is bundled away to a stool that is brought out for her to sit on. DiDonato waves to the crowd, but quickly returns her attention to Perry. The singer stands up and the two fighters hug each other, and the crowd cheers as Emily raises Katy’s right arm. The two girls embrace again before they head to the back.

“Katy is a very good fighter,” Emily tells the press, “I knew she was going to give me all I could handle tonight, but I knew I could beat her. It was just a matter of execution. She will bounce back though, Katy is really tough. And when she is ready for a rematch, I will be waiting for her.”

“Fates has done a good job of training DiDonato,” Perry says, “She’s a really good fighter, and at Front Street, we do our best to say yes to the challenges coming out way.”
