Words: Fates Before:
Elizabeth Olsen and Selena Gomez are two of the top bantamweights in the FCBA, and the two meet for a rematch from 2020. Elizabeth won the last bout by a sixth round knockout, but Gomez has been working on her fighting abilities too. The two girls are ranked fourth and ninth, and a win over Olsen could propel Gomez into the title picture if she knocks off the former champion.
“Lizzie is a tough fighter. She has to be. She had two years of free agency before Fates picked her up.” Gomez says. “But I’ve been training for this moment for years. I won’t let her beat me twice.”
Olsen is equally complimentary of her foe. “Selena’s a fighter, she truly is. She will hold the belt one day, but I know I still have gas in the tank. I’m going to prove that I am one of the best there ever was.”
Gomez the first girl to step into the ring, the singer removing her robe to reveal a pink sports bra with matching black trunks and gloves. The singer bounces around on her feet, waiting for the actress. Olsen steps out and makes her way to the ring, the Fates girl removing her robe to reveal a red sports bra and matching trunks and gloves, her hair in a bun for the fight. The two girls touch gloves and the bell rings for ten rounds of bantamweight action.
Round 1:
The two bantamweights leave their corners and start circling each other, both girls with the same reach. Selena and Elizabeth trade jabs, neither girl looking to press the tempo early, and they settle into a rhythm of jabbing at each other for the first minute. Gomez breaks the rhythm and closes distance, clipping Olsen’s ear, but the brunette recovers and drills the singer in her mouth. Selena drops back and Lizzie chases after her, the Fates girl working lefts and rights over the singer’s body. The Lioness fighter comes back with a left before clinching, but the Fates girl still finds blows into her body before the ref steps in. The two girls start circling again after the break, and Olsen continues to find her blows as Gomez protects her head early. The bell rings and the first round goes to Elizabeth on points, wide.
Round 2:
Both bantamweights start the second more quickly than the first, circling at a quick pace and feinting before closing distance and striking. Olsen the first girl to land a shot to her foe’s face, but Gomez responds with a left into the actress’s jaw. Olsen taken aback and the singer pounds a pair of blows into her foe’s chest. Lizzie winces and clinches to force the break as the ref steps in. Selena keeps up the pressure after the break, working short lefts and rights into Elizabeth’s torso. Lizzie protecting her head and the Fates girl works a left into Selena’s face. The two girls scrap in close quarters and get tangled, but Olsen’s right arms is free and she finds a blow into Gomez’s body. The bell rings and both girls return to their corners as Selena evens the fight up on points.
Round 3:
Selena and Elizabeth settling into their rhythms and the third starts with a give and take of blows. Gomez lands the first pair, but Olsen finds a short right into her foe’s face. Selena stands strong and drives a left-right combo into Lizzie’s chest. Olsen stays in close to Gomez and the two girls trade blows from close quarters, getting tangled and forcing the referee to step in. The two are pulled apart and the ref waves them back in. Selena showing off her youth as she starts dancing around Liz, the Fates girl struggling to keep pace as the singer is quicker and hammers blows into her chest. Olsen protecting her head and Gomez drives a hard left into her ribs, knocking her back. Gomez winds up for a follow up - and she takes a half step back as Olsen connects with a right. The bell rings before the Fates girl can land a follow up, and the third goes to Gomez on points to take the lead.
Round 4:
Olsen follows up on her strong ending to the third with a left into Gomez’s breadbasket early. Selena on her back foot and Elizabeth surges forward, chopping her foe with a right into her jaw and knocking the singer back into the ropes. Gomez keeps her guard up and blocks Olsens blows at her head and the Fates girl plugs leather into her body. Selena gasps as Elizabeth drives a right into her midriff that drives the air out of her lungs, and the singer clinches for the break. Elizabeth chases after Selena and the singer lands a left into her foe’s chest followed by a right into her ribs, but the former champion connects with a left across Selena’s chin. Gomez staggers backward and Olsen drives her back into the ropes as the bell rings, and the Fates girl takes the fourth on points by shutout.
Round 5:
Lizzie picks up where she left off and finds a right into Selena’s solar plexus early and the singer nearly doubles over! Gomez gasps in pain but her woes are just beginning as Olsen snaps her back upright with a left and Gomez is reeling backward. Selena plants her feet and shoots out a right left combo that grazes Elizabeth’s ear and Liz snaps the singer’s head back with a left. Gomez wobbles on her legs and Olsen spins the brunette’s head to her right with a hook and down goes Gomez! Lizzie to the corner as the ref starts his count. Selena get to all fours and then to her feet, the singer nodding at the ref and the fight continues. Olsen surges and goes body, but Gomez isn’t going down without a fight. Selena with a pair of rights into Elizabeth’s mouth and opens the actress up, and the Fates girl backs off. The two girls circle each other before they both dart towards the other and trade blows, and Selena forces Lizzie back with a left jab. The bell rings and Olsen takes the round on points with the knockdown, but Gomez is putting up a fight.
Round 6:
Olsen quickly out of her corner and shoots out a right that whizzes by Gomez’s head and Selena connects with a haymaker into the actress’s face just beneath her eye. The Scarlet Witch staggers back but Selena already has a follow up into Elizabeth’s mouth, reopening it and drawing more blood. Lizzie stunned as she totters backward, her gloves up in a weak guard. Selena not wasting any time, darting around the Avenger and hammering blows into the brunette’s failing guard. Lizzie getting hammered by leather and knows she can’t be a punching bag if she wants to win and the actress steps forward to clinch. Selena steps back and connects with Elizabeth’s head as the Fates girl is falling apart! Olsen knocked off balance and she swings wildly, missing by a mile and Gomez drives a right uppercut into her foe’s chin and down goes Olsen! Lizzie on the ground barely moving her arms, the ref’s count a formality as the actress barely has the strength to pick her head up. The ref reaches ten and your winner by KO6, Selena Gomez!
After:
Selena Gomez evens the score against Elizabeth Olsen with a dominating sixth round knockout, and the Lioness may well get herself a title shot after this win. Selena raises her arms in victory while the Fates staff floods the ring to tend to Elizabeth. Gomez poses for photos before turning her attention to Olsen after the Scarlet Witch has been helped to a stool. The two girls embrace and exchange words before Gomez heads to the back to talk to the press.
“Lizzie is a phenomenal fighter,” Selena says, “But today I showed that I am on her level. After years of looking for that first title, I think I’ve should get the opportunity to prove myself.”
Liz quieter in her press conference, the Fates girl keeping her comments brief. “Selena is a great fighter and was better than me today. But I will keep on being better, that is a promise.” |
