YVETTE MONREAL VS SASHA PIETERSE
Results: Lookout Writing: Archer
Yvette: 30 YO, 5’5 (1.65 m), 3-3-0, 3 KO since 2020, Global Boxing Syndicate
Sasha: 26 YP. 5’6 (1.67 m), 18-18-0, 17 KO since 2016 , Pretty Little Punchers
Before: “I am just be glad to finally getting into the ring in 2022,” says Yvette Monreal whose last fight was in November of 2021 (a KO3 loss to Natalie Alyn Lind). “I know I can build a better record than 3-3, but I need to be in the ring to do that. So I am here, rust and all, anxious to get back to building a decent career around here.”
“I don’t mean to sound rude, but, Yvette, you building that career by adding to my loss record. I’m glad to be at .500 and that’s a career I intend to build on.”
Yvette looks annoyed, but keeps her temper. Sasha smiles sweetly: “If anyone can knock the rust off you and your career, it’s me. “
“Oh, how kind of you, but once that rust is off I’ll be the one knocking you out!” Yvette declared.
“Famous last words which I will be happy to remind you of at the end of our fight,” retorted Sasha.
“Not if you’re the one drooling into the canvas while the ref counts you out,” sniped Yvette.
“Not going to happen—to me anyway. See you in the ring!” Sasha snapped to end the presser.
The ill-will from the prefight was still hanging between the two as they stood facing each other just before the fight began. As the referee droned through the instructions, the crowd and the rival fighters could look each other over. Yvette was in a sexy black one piece with flame red gloves and boots (black laces). Her dark hair was pulled back in a battle braid. The two scowl at each other and the glove tap is sharp and loud. Then they are back to their corners tensely waiting the long moment for the bell. DING!
R1: Sasha and Yvette quickly out to the middle of the ring and Yvette attacking Sasha to the body. Sasha replying with a body attack of her own. Two are whacking away meatily, mixing in some head shots for variety, Sasha getting the better of Yvette late with right/left combos to the jaw and then goes back to stuffing the hook in Yvette’s midsection. Yvette forced back and Sasha finishes with a swiping right cross off Yvette’s chin. Still, it was a close round, but the judges decide it in Sasha Pieterse’s favor.
R2: Yvette opens the second round with a hard punching flurry to Sasha’s head. Sasha getting lit up to the chin jaw and side of the head. Sasha pulls back to regroup, but Yvette presses forward after her. This sets up a sustained exchange of head shots. Two really whacking away, swiveling the others’ heads and knocking chins back while banging the sides of their heads. The accumulating impacts began to take effect as the punching slowed. Then Yvette launched a late burst of hooks to Sasha’s midsection and drove the blonde back. Sasha was trying to regroup as another right snapped into her jaw and she fell back covering her face. The round ended moments later and Yvette Monreal came off with a close win.
R3: Sasha and Yvette again moved forward quickly. This time Sasha hung back and let Yvette come in. Yvette had her right pulled back ready to unload against Sasha’s head, but Sasha ducked under the incoming punch. BAM! Sasha hammered a right uppercut into Yvette chin. Yvette was thrown backwards, struggling to stay on her feet as Sasha sprang forward. Sasha was able to batter away with at least three right/left combos before Yvette could get her gloves up to protect her head. Sasha immediately went after Yvette to the body smiting her hard in the breasts, ribs and deep into her belly. Yvette was doubled up and just trying to survive as Sasha tried to get her down. Yvette managed to stay on her feet and punch back a few counters to avoid a shutout, but she looked shell shocked after the bell as she unsteadily returned to her corner. Sasha Pieterse won this round wide.
R4: Yvette fought back hard in the new round. She was again aggressive as soon as the bell rang, but she was not as reckless as the previous round. Yvette was moving from side to side, firing in high and low, trying to keep Sasha off balance. It took Sasha a bit of time, but she seemed increasingly able to deflect or at least blunt Yvette’s attack. Sasha then counterattacked late. Yvette was suddenly the one being attack head and body, but she fought back until they were trading punch for punch at the bell. The round another close one, but Yvette Monreal was able to edge Sasha Pieterse out on the cards.
R5: Now Sasha Pieterse was the aggressive one. She came out quickly and had her leather deep into Yvette’s gut before Yvette could get a punch launched. Yvette was knocked back on her heels, gasping for air as Sasha continued to drive fierce hooks into the same area over and over. Yvette tried desperately to jab Sasha back, but Sasha just keep tormenting those abs. Yvette was bent forward and her knees her buckling. Sasha then lifted uppercuts into Yvette’s overhanging upper body. Sasha burst through between Yvette’s mitts and thundered her punches into Yvette’s face. Yvette shuddered and desperately stumbled backwards until she hit the ropes sideways. Sasha moved in and drove her long the ropes driving punches between Yvette’s gloves to hit her HARD between the eyes. Suddenly Yvette’s knees buckled AND DOWN WENT YVETTE. Sasha stepped back as Yvette landed first on her knees and then pitched forward onto her face with a wet THUMP! Sasha then departed for the neutral corner and then watched as the referee counted over the fallen Yvette.
Yvette was trying to push herself up, but her arms would not cooperate. They would buckle and drop her back to the canvas. She was cheek against the canvas moaning softly as the referee reached the climax of his count:
“NINE!...TEN!...YOU ARE OUT!”
THE WINNER: SASHA PIETERSE DEFEATS YVETTE MONREAL KO5.
After: “I told her she’d end up like that. I hope at least I knocked all the rust off her. I sure knocked her out,” Sasha says cheerfully, savoring the win that pushes her to 20-19.
“I am really disappointed in how this fight turned out,” an unhappy Yvette later tells the press. “I just hope I get the chance to show what I can REALLY do and mean a chance that comes soon.”
Fight had to be a very satisfying win for Sasha Pieterse, who is quietly building a decent record for herself despite seemingly being overshadowed by other PLP members. Tough loss for Yvette Monreal, though not too surprising given it’s her first fight since last November. Perhaps now that the “rust” is off, she’ll do better next time out providing that comes sooner rather than later.
