Millie Bobby Brown vs. Elodie Grace Orkin
(Results: Lookout. Words: Wiz)
BEFORE:
Blonde teen Elodie, just a couple of months and change past her 18th birthday, steps in with one of the hottest prospects in the FCBA in Millie, who's only run off seven straight wins since her March debut, and against some solid competition, too. But, Elodie's another girl whose name's been bandied about as someone who might have a bright FCBA future, and, she's not sweating her "Stranger Things" castmate. "I'm bigger than she is," says the blonde. "I hit harder. I'm stronger. She's got some experience, sure. But, I'm going to get big on her and take her out of there."
"I've been WAITING for a shot at Orkin," says Millie. "She always did think she was something special. I'm about to prove she's a basic bytch."
ROUND ONE:
Elodie ain't playin'. She wants to get big. She's a little taller than Millie, a little thicker, too, and she wants to bring all that to bear on the lovely British brunette. And, Brown's willing to play that game...to a point. She's hanging in, trading with as the blonde tries to work forward. Until she isn't. When the brunette's had enough of banging with, she slips away from the taller girl, circles, resets, does some ranged boxing, until Orkin can close again and get back to trading leather. To Elodie's credit, the tyro doesn't get overly aggressive or sloppy. It's clear she's been well drilled. She plays defense, sets up punches, doesn't try to do too much. And, when she's working on favorable terms, she's getting the better of her rival. But, Brown's able to offset that with her work at range, offset it and a bit more, building a small lead that she carries to the bell, taking the first round and the 10-9 lead.
ROUND TWO:
More of the same in the second. Lots of close-in trading, as the blonde is determined to impose will on the brunette. But, Millie's far from punking. She's firing back, scoring with both hands, and, again, when she's had enough, slipping away to circle, reset, work at distance until Elodie can get back in her grill. The difference this time is, the blonde's doing a better job of closing. More of the round is being spent at close quarters with heavy leather flying, and that's the game that Orkin wants to play. She plays it well. Very well, in fact, for a teenager in her first fight. Well enough that she's beginning to make the brunette uncomfortable at times, forcing her backward, forcing her to cover up. And, so it is that, when the bell rings ending the second, Elodie's claimed the points and evened things at 19.
ROUND THREE:
Same again. Ladies clearly both happy with how things are going. So, the brunette hangs in as the blonde works forward and firefights develop. Millie holds her own in those situations, until, eventually, she decides to bail and reset, getting some ranged work in as the blonde again pushes forward. For the third round in a row, no one is hurt, and, for the third round in a row, it's a near-run thing. No one is able to gain any real advantage let alone take control of the proceedings. Instead, it's excellent, two-way stuff that, again, is especially impressive coming from Elodie, who's in an FCBA ring for the first time against a girl who's already moving up the rankings very quickly. At the bell, there's absolutely nothing in it. It's an even round and the cards remain even, now at 29.
ROUND FOUR:
It ain't broke. So, nobody's fixing it. The fight's settled into a predictable if action-packed pattern. Sharp exchanges at close range, everybody landing hard shot. Nobody hurt. And, always the brunette who decides to break off contact, circle away, reset, get some work done at range before the blonde can get back in and get physical. Two takeaways from what we've seen so far. The first is that Elodie definitely looks like the prospect tongues have been wagging about. The second is that trying to get physical with Millie might not be a path to victory, because the brunette shows she can both take and give out punishment quite well. As for the fourth, it's yet another close round, this one ending in another narrow victory for Elodie, who pulls into a 39-38 lead.
ROUND FIVE:
Elodie in Millie's grill early, getting a bit more aggressive now, though remaining sound as she has the entire fight. She's backing up the brunette here and there, bringing her power to be...BOOM! Right hand counter, MILLIE! Brown ROCKS ORKIN with a fantastic right hand, and, now the brunette is ALL IN. She drives the blonde back to the ropes and then starts calling in artillery strikes. Elodie, as she has the entire fight, shows maturity beyond her years and experience. She doesn't panic. Instead, she forms the tight guard, plays defense, rolls with punches, blocks others, jabs back here and there to keep the referee at bay. All of that, of course, is well and good, but it doesn't change the fact that Brown's giving her a licking and does so right to the bell. When it rings, Millie's taken it wide and evened things at 48.
ROUND SIX:
Now it's Brown coming forward. She's taking the fight to Elodie, who's still not sure of those legs. Millie works some body, as Orkin keeps the hands high. She steps to, hooks ribs, then goes upstairs. It's excellent stuff from the brunette, who's taken control now and in a very big way. BOOM! Right hand, BROWN! Orkin all wobbly-butt. RIGHT HOOK and DOWN GOES ELODIE! Millie raising her hands to the sky before turning to march to a neutral corner. Blonde down on her right side as the referee begins counting. She keeps trying to push off the canvas, but can't seem to figure out how to do it. Even as the numbers get higher, the blonde tries...but she can't get it done. The count passes her by and it's OVER! And your winner by KO6 is Millie Bobby Brown!
AFTER:
Millie matter-of-fact in the post-fight, because, frankly, she's had bigger and more impressive wins than this. "It's like I told you," says the brunette. "She's NOT special. She's just another girl who couldn't beat me. There are a lot of THOSE already. And, there are going to be SO MANY more." |
