DANIELLE CAMPBELL VS MEG DONNELLY

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Danielle: 27 YO, 5’3 (1.60 m). 29-21-0, 20 KO since 2014, Pretty Little Punchers

Meg: 22 YO. 5’3 (1.60 m). 16-5-0. 16 KO since 2019, Front Street

Before: “I consider myself a rising star in the Division, but I know you’re only as good as your last fight,” says Front Street’s Meg Donnelly that pre-fight press meeting. “Now, I lost my last fight to Miley Cyrus, that was my only loss so far this year and I need to get a win to show I am bouncing back That I can do it against a veteran like Dani Campbell makes me all the more eager to get into the ring.”

“I wouldn’t be in such a rush, Meggy,” replies Danielle Campbell, “I am on 2 fight win streak and you’re just the sort of ‘rising star’ I like to knock down a rank or two.”

“I’m willing to risk it,” Meg says coolly.

“Then prepare to lose,” Danielle says bluntly, but Meg just gives her a defiant smile.

Come Fight Night, we find Danielle entering the ring and removing her robe. She is wearing a a dark blue one piece swimsuit with black gloves and boots (blue laces), Hair in a battle braid. Meg enters the ring and removes her robe to reveal a sunny yellow one piece with big white dots. White gloves and boots with yellow laces. Blonde hair in perky ponytail. The ring instructions are smoothly covered. Gloves are tapped and the fighters go their corners. The bell rings…

R1: DC moves forward rapidly and starts smacking away at Meg to the head. Meg under heavy pressure, falls back and tries her defensive jab. Dani maintaining a steady pressure against Meg shaking her up with digging hooks to the midsection alternating with banging blows to the jaw and chin. Meg trying to steer clear of the ropes does manage to get in some counter blows late to DC’s chin, but it’s not enough to keep Danielle Campbell from winning the round wide.

R2: Meg D makes sure to be the first one out f her corner this round and she goes right at Dani C. Rat-a-tat-tat shots to the chin and jaw and belly slam into Danielle early. Meg trying to force her back into the strands, but DC resisting with defensive jabs to Meg’s face. Meg knocked back on her feels, but comes right back and heaves answering rights and lefts into Dani’s face. Then they go at it toe to toe at point blank range. Breasts and ribs and abs getting worked over. Meg slips in some surprise chin clippers to knock DCs head back. DC rallies, but time runs out before Dani regain all the lost ground. Meg D able to come away with a close win.

R3: Meg continues the battle up close and personal. She presses in close, forehead and breasts nearly touching Dani’s. Dani feel the pressure, but digs down and whacks right back. Two are slugging it out in a small area in the middle of the ring. Elbows churning in and out like pistons on a steam engine. Once again, Meg uses surprise uppercuts to attack Dani to the chin. She is getting enough force to shake DC’s knees, but PLP fighter comes back after regrouping. However, once again, Meg’s been able to eke out a win on points.

R4: Enough of this toe to toe stuff! Danielle Campbell seems to have decided. She comes out and starts whacking Meg Donnelly to the head from a distance. Meg trying to get back in, but is driven back each time by determined punching from Dani. Meg getting lumped up to the jaw and cheek bones. She finally has to cover up and strike at Dani as she tries to advance. Dani now circling around Meg, making feints to keep the blonde off balance under fire. Danielle wins this round wide and looks confident she has righted the ship after losing the previous two rounds.

R5: Meg and Dani now both circling at the center of the ring, stabbing out punches, looking for openings. Then Dani comes forward bobbing and weaving as she goes for Meg’s head. Meg ducking and dodging, countering to the body with her counters. Dani keeps coming forward and Meg trying to block. Then Dani ducks down, looks to come rising up with a big shot t Megs chin, but LEG STRIKES FIRST. Meg slams a sudden right hand HARD into Dani’s right eye Dani recoils in shock and BOOM! BOOM! Right/left combo to DCs chin. DOWN GOES DANI! DC hits on her butt and swoons to her back. Meg quickly trotting to neutral corner as referee arrives on scene to count. Dani struggling to rise, twice nearly regains her feet only to topple back down as her legs give way. Dani desperately tries a third time, but she is too late.

“TEN!....YOU’RE OUT!” referee is crying as Dani bursts into tears of frustration and Meg is jumping up and down in victory.

THE WINNER MEG DONNELLY DEFEATS DANIELLE CAMPBELL KO5!

After: Happy night for Meg Donnelly, but a miserable one for Dani Campbell. Meg just can’t resist taking the proud DC on a jaunt around the ring. Dani just can’t stop the tears flowing. Her right eye is badly swollen and seems sure to produce a memorable black eye. She stumbles along held up by the beaming Meg.

“I just waited for my chance and struck!” explains Meg later. “I left her on her back hearing birdies chirping and bells ringing. Moral of the fight: Don’t mess with Meg D!”

“I was so close,” a distraught Dani says following the fight, “I was sure I was winning and then it all blew up in my face! This one hurt!”

One can hope that Danielle Campbell will quickly recover from this setback. She did look like she was taking charge of the fight, but ‘Dangerous Donnelly’ proved she’ll take advantage of an opening. Impressive win for young Meg and she is showing really is a “rising star’ among the FCBA flyweights. Fans eager to see what she can do next in the ring.
