Katheryn Winnick
(44, 5’4, 34:20 FCBA, The Dollhouse) Vs. Keira Knightley (37, 5’7, 20:34:2 FCBA, Celebrity Wrestling Federation)
Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse
BEFORE: "This year hasn't been the best for me...losing my last 2 fights was hard to deal with but I did fight pretty stiff competition,” Katheryn says with a mix of emotions from her seat at the press table.
The PRESS conference is occurring a couple of hours before their official fight on this PPV card, with Winnick and Knightley coming into the hall with mutual cheers from the audience. Katheryn looks slightly encouraged by the vote of support, as she continues:
“I've slowed down the pace and I'm taking my time preparing for these fights as much as I can. Keira is someone I've never fought before and is going to be a good challenge at this point. She's younger and taller and ready to kick my ass I'm sure. Hopefully I can bounce back tonight with a good win. I want to finish the year stronger than how it started."
The audience certainly thinks so, giving her a roar of support, especially from the back of the room, which prompts Winnick to give them a wave of acknowledgement. On the other end of the table, Keira is smiling back, getting acknowledged by her opponent always a nice feeling.
“I have mad respect for Winnick and all she’s done. Every time she steps in the ring, I’ve been cheering her on. Now, I find myself facing off against a woman who never quits, despite her ups and downs. This is going to be an amazing fight, I can just feel it,” Keira says.
Mutual respect at the podium, as blonde and brunette face off and then shake hands in a cordial manner, wishing each other the best of luck. Those three inches of a height advantage might prove useful for Knightley, but it’s certainly offset by Katheryn’s power in her bulk.
Hours later, Winnick is first to enter the ring, dressed in her usual white fighting gear of sports bra and tights with matching white and black gloves, her blonde hair in a ponytail as she pumps her gloves high to the music. Next, Knightley’s coming into the arena in opposing colors, a black sports bra and long, grey fighting tights, already swinging black gloves from side to side with every stride to the ring.
The referee’s eager to get this Bantamweight fight started, getting the nod from both ladies in their respective corners. There’s the wave of the hand and HERE WE GO with ten rounds!
ROUND 1: Kat’s staking her claim as usual, arms up and body brimming for a brawl. She starts jabbing at Keira to test her defenses out, and those punches that land are already causing damage, pushing Knightley backwards as though each of those jabs are packing the power of a straight cross. Knightley knows she can’t hang and bang with the more powerful Doll, trying to keep her distance and jab back, but still losing on aggregate, with Kat’s power slamming into her arms and body, paying her back two-for-one with each exchange. Knightley gets a little wiser towards the end of the round, bobbing and weaving to avoid another swing to the head from the Doll, but there’s not much action left when the bell sounds. Wide round to the Doll, and an excellent display of what she’s capable of.
ROUND 2: Knightley follows through, jabs sent high and wide and often at Winnick’s head, trying to keep the Doll off her case, with limited success. Winnick’s eating shot after shot off her forehead, trying to both defend herself and occasionally power a shot back in. But those straight crosses are intercepted by Knightley’s arms. Sure, the Brit is getting pushed back a couple of steps each time she takes one of those power-blows, but hitting the arms ain’t the same as scoring back off the nose and lips, as Knightley makes use of her reach advantage to score often and throughout. Bell rings and it’s a nice comeback performance for the recent CWF signee, with Knightley getting a second and third and sixth lease on her career, with many more bouts to come!
ROUND 3: More of the same in the first minute, with Knightley mixing up her combos with the occasional overhand fist off the top of the head, knocking Kat’s head backwards with a grunt. Winnick’s still having trouble dealing with the height differential, lunging at Knightley’s body with thundering hooks to draw equal grunts back, the wind getting knocked out of the Brit’s body to effect. Second half, however, and Keira chooses to hang even further back, breathing a little harder, afraid of Kat’s power if she gets in too close. Fine by Kat, who slowly circles and steps inwards, throwing yet more hooks outta nowhere to try and floor the leaner girl. But Keira still slips out of the way with relative ease, managing to avoid the attacks until the bell finally rings, to edge out a victory.
ROUND 4: Slower start, but Katheryn’s better blocking the Brit’s incoming combos, before rocking Keira back with a straight hand to the body and arms. Keira’s getting hounded backwards and across the ring, frustrated by her own attacks either missing or being blocked by a firmer defense from the Doll. Winnick’s taking ground, bit by bit, her own head weaving side to side, showing off her agility, before catching Knightley off the body and ribs with a side hook swing, another rising to bash the side of the head and send her stumbling off to the side with a grunt. Keira’s answer is even more speed and distance, firing multiple jab combos in a desperate attempt to stay Kat’s hand. Thankfully, the bell rings soon after, giving the Brit some much needed breathing space.
ROUND 5: Keira is still scrambling to adapt, however, moving fast and to the side, with Winnick coming straight at her with an intention to brawl. Knightley not moving fast enough, immediately getting hounded with hook after hook slammed into her arms, the Brit girl doing her best to protect her vulnerable chin, occasionally swinging back to cuff Winnick’s temple and body. But it’s an uphill battle indeed, with Katheryn too hungry to get in close by hook or crook, bashing another fist off the Brit’s ribs to stun the lithe girl on the spot by the ropes! Knightley’s in TROUBLE, getting rocked by another rising swing off the side of her head, before an uppercut catches her clean on the chin down the middle, CUTTING her strings on the spot! AND DOWN KNIGHTLEY GOES, getting rocked off her hinges, groaning into the canvas with her face buried between her elbows! Referee gestures for Winnick to head back to the neutral corner, which the Dollhouse blonde obliges without much protest, as Knightley struggles on the ground. The count is slowly rising from above her, and Keira’s face is twisted in pain as she uses the ropes to try and pull herself back up. However, a last push upwards doesn’t seem to work, and she collapses back down to her knees at the very last moment, failing to meet the ten-count! The ref’s waving his arms overhead, signaling this fight as OVER!
Official Decision: Katheryn Winnick defeats Keira Knightley via KO5!
AFTER: Big grin from the winner as Katheryn Winnick raises both arms up high and turns to her team. The Dollhouse corner can breath a sigh of relief as Winnick, who came into this fight as the favorite, managed to get the W in tonight’s fight against a fairly dangerous opponent, proving she still has what it takes to compete outside of Cougar bouts at her age of 44.
Winnick (almost) always gracious in the ring, walks over to Knightley and waits until the Brit is able to sit up with the help of her team. She exchanges a hug and a few encouraging words before finally turning around and thanking her many cheering fans.
Shortly after, an all-smiles Katheryn makes her victory march out of the ring, and is stopped for a short interview. “Fighting Keira was a great opportunity and I’m glad I was able to execute my gameplan the way I hoped to. She’s welcome to a rematch at any time.” When asked about who she has on her mind as her next opponent, Katheryn only chuckles, and responds with a short “We’ll see.” Before walking away and disappearing behind the curtains – leaving both the fans and the media guessing about her future plans. |
