LUCY HALE VS VANESSA HUDGENS

Results: Lookout Writer: Archer

Lucy: 33 YO, 5’2 (1.57 m) 38-40-0, 37 KO since 2010, Pretty Little Punchers

Vanessa: 34 YO, 5’2 (1.57m), 94-45-0, 86 KO since 2007, Lookout! Boxing

Before: “This is an interesting fight,” Vanessa Hudgens pontificates in the pre-fight, my record is SO much better than Lucy’s, but I have lost twice her, once in 2016 and once in 2017. I suppose it is petty of me, but I wanted to start evening things out. Lucy’s beaten a couple of jobbers so I am sure she is feeling proud of herself, I am here puncture that balloon. I will feel so much better once I’ve done that.”

Lucy Hale looks annoyed: “It’s taken you 5 years to get around to fighting me again? I think you were just afraid to risk a third loss to me. You should be afraid of that because I’ve got your number Vanessa Hudgens and you are going down again.”

Now it is Vanessa’s turn to look annoyed: “You Punchers are like a bunch yippy dogs—you don’t know when to shut up.”

“I certainly know when to shut you up!” Vanessa snaps. “and that will be very shortly in the ring.”

“That’s when you’ll lose to me again !” Lucy said with determination.

Two glare at each other before abruptly ending the presser, but the mood has not changed when they meet in the ring. They are both glaring angrily at each other.

Vanessa is wearing a white bikini with lace-up front, black gloves and boots with white laces. Her hair is in a messy ponytail Lucy in black bra and panties with royal blue gloves and boots. Bobbed hair loose, but wetted down.

Referee has to warn Lucy and Vanessa to save it for the fight” and then gets through the instructions, Quick glancing tab and the two march to their corners. What seems ike a long pause and then the bell rings.

R1: Lucy moving out the more quickly in the opening round and greets Vanessa with a brisk scrubbing attack to the face. Vanessa falls back as Lucy comes after her. Vanessa trying to hold off Lucy with the draw, but Lucy ignores the impacts as she now goes after Vanessa to the midsection. Vanessa can’t seem to get an effective jab going as Lucy’s incoming shots keep jolting her. Vanessa finally just gets out of there and trues to use distance to regroup. Lucy stays close to keep the pain coming. Round ends a wide win for Lucy Hale.

R2: Vanessa making sure she is the fastest one out of her corner this round. She all but runs towards Lucy and gives her a big clout on the chin. Lucy’s legs go all wonky as she stumbles away. Vanessa moving with her trying to land more punches to the head, but Lucy desperately ducking and dodging the incoming, but taking a lot of hits. Lucy trying counter, but these aren’t slowing Vanessa down. Lucy battered and bleeding from split lips as the round ends. Vanessa Hudgens the winner by a wide margin.

R3: Lucy and Vanessa are both out fast, but Vanessa is faster and stuns Lucy with an opening series of right/lefts to the jaw and then hooks to the stomach. Lucy falls back, but Vanessa is hammering her hard to the midsection. Lucy, bent double, finds herself backed into the ropes. Now all Lucy can do is bury her face in her gloves while Vanessa works Lucy’s torso over like she’s a heavy bag in a gym. Lucy is writhing and gasping under the relentless assault. Vanessa looks to be trying to cut Lucy down, but Lucy is seated on the ropes and is somehow able to ride it. Out, Bell rings and Vanessa steps back frowning in annoyance. Lucy slowly, stiffly removes herself from the strands and pushes passed Vanessa to head for her corner. Vanessa not appreciating the shoulder bump and turns on her, but watchful referee intervenes and sends Vanessa to her own corner. Vanessa wins the round in a shutout.

R4: Hard work by the PLP corner seems to work wonders with the banged up Lucy Hale. Lucy comes out of her corner and gives Vanessa a big straight “I’m-still-here-bytch!’ right to the nose. Vanessa recoils with blood running from her nostrils. Lucy following up with lightning strike rights and lefts to Vanessa’s chin and jaw. Vanessa covering up, trying to fall back and recover behind some frantic defensive jabs. Lucy moving nicely to dodge the jabs while now going after Vanessa to the body. Solid whacks to the belly and raking shots to the ribs and finally some nasty shots to the jugs that make ‘Nessa’s bra ups bounce. Vanessa is able to stay clear of the ropes, but this is Lucy’s round which she wins wide at the bell.

R5: Lucy coming right back at Vanessa, now seeming to concentrate on her body, but Vanessa is fighting back this round. The petite punchers go at it toe to, their elbows moving in and out like piston rods as rights and lefts slam into each other’s sweaty bodies. Steady smack-smack-smack of leather against wet skin can be heard by ringsiders. Lucy digging in, trying to push Vanessa back, but Vanessa fighting it out in the trenches. Lucy finally able to drive Vanessa back on her heels, but Vanessa still resisting with determination. Bell rings. Referee has to jump in and push them apart. The two stand sweat dripping from their bruised and aching bodies, just glaring at each other before turning away.

Close round, but when the judges add up te points they give it to Lucy Hale by a narrow margin.

R6: Vanessa striking early from a distance as the new round commences. Lucy is trying to get in close, but getting hit hard to the head. She falls back, circles and comes in again. Vanessa again there to greet her with a volley of punches to the jaw, chin and sides of the head. Lucy falls back but looks a less eager to try it again. This seems to cue Vanessa. Vanessa counterattacks with an opening barrage of belly buster hooks. Lucy, expecting more head shots, gets jackknifed forward from the impacts. Then Vanessa unleashes rising shots up into Lucy’s overhanging upper body. Punches burst between Lucy’s defensive mitts and smite her hard to the face. Lucy stumbles back in disorder and now Vanessa heaves in an overhand right/left to the forehead. Lucy staggered, gloves dropping down as bells ring in her brain and Vanessa smashes forward with a big right.left uppercut combination to the chin. LUCY ‘S LEGS SHOOT UP IN THE AIR AND SHE CRASHES ONTO HER BACK! Lucy stretched out, arms at her sides and eyelids fluttering uselessly. Vanessa quick to the neutral corner as the referee comes in to count.

Lucy struggling to rise, but can’t seem to do more than push herself up on her elbows and look around with a blank “What-just-happened?” stare.

“SEVEN!...EIGHT!...NINE!....TEN!...YOU ARE OUT!!”

THE WINNER: VANESSA HUDGENS DEFEATS LUCY HALE KO6

After: Happy times in the Lookout! Boxing corner as Vanessa celebrates her win with stablemates Jenna Coleman and Demi Lovato. Vanessa keeps an eye on the PLP corner where Lucy Hale is being tended to. When she can see that Lucy has been medically cleared, Vanessa heads over and pulls Lucy to her feet.

“Time for a tour of the ring. It is something I’ve wanted for a long time.” Vanessa says with satisfaction.

“I’m sure it is,” Lucy says wearily, but then Vanessa puts her right arm in a hammerlock behind her back. “Hey! I’m coming, you don’t have to do that.”

“Oh, but it will look so much better in the photos. Me: dominating Lucy Hale at long last!”:

Lucy protesting, but Vanessa’s not about to let go. Lucy finds herself forced around the ring and she can only put up with ‘Nessa’s gloating showboating.

“Just wait until next time,” Lucy growls once they complete the Walk and she start rubbing the feeling back into her right arm.

“Oh, I am looking forward to that—then I can make our record 2-2 and that’s one step closer to being 3 and 2,” Vanessa replies. “Though I don’t say when those will happen. I prefer to keep you in suspense.”

“You’re something else, Hudgens—and it’s not good,” Lucy growls.

Vanessa just laughs and walks away leaving Lucy to be consoled by Shay Mitchell and Troian Bellisario.

Quite a fight, but it goes to show how hard it is to beat a veteran fighter 3 times in a row. Vanessa was finally able to get a win against her nemesis Lucy. She had to work at though. Lucy managed to come back from being shout out in 3rd to win the next 2 rounds. Unfortunately for her, Vanessa then came back and put Lucy on the canvas for the 10-count. Good to be reminded of this rivalry, but we hope we won’t have to wait years for their next showdown.
