Maddie Ziegler
(20, 5’5 ½, 9:2 FCBA, The Dollhouse)
Vs.
Sadie Sink
(20, 5’3, 2:2 FCBA, The Punching Queens)

Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse

BEFORE:
A couple of things these next two fighters have in common: both are recent debuntantes in the FCBA scene, and both girls recently didn’t fare so well against a certain Millie Bobby Brown.

"Me and Sadie are the same age and we both debuted this year,” Maddie speaks first, nodding confidently from the press table. “She just beat Nell Tiger Free who's very good and has a lot more experience than her so I know she can box. I do have more fights than her too but I'm not expecting an easy fight at all tonight. I'm still the favorite in my eyes so hopefully I can continue my streak with a 3rd straight win. So yeah...Long story short I'm going to knock Sadie out.” Maddie says with a smirk.

Sadie’s record has been mixed thus far but it’s off to a promising start, as Ziegler just pointed out, having bested Nell and Danielle Rose Russell, and both ladies looking to cement a third straight win in a row. Sink not liking those snarky comments right at the end, however, and so the Texas American smirks and responds in kind from across the table:

“Tough words for someone that just got knocked out by an 18 year old…” Sink says, her voice snarky, which draws a scowl from Ziegler, before she continues. “Maddie seems way too sure of herself for someone who’s still as new as she is on her rookie year. No one thought I would knock out Tiger Free till she was snoozing at my feet. Ziegler will meet a similar fate tonight.”

Strong words from both young ladies but those two-and-a-half inches of height advantage for Maddie might make all the difference. Then again, the same was said of Sink’s disadvantage when she fought Nell Tiger Free, and we all know how that contest turned out. Ladies square off at the podium, fists raised up and poised to the other girl’s chin, lips upturned at the corners, both blonde and redhead coming into this fight with a confident streak. Thankfully, they both separate moments later, after the cameras flash their fill and the fight officials gesture them back to their respective corners.

Hours later, Sink is first to enter the arena, wearing a simple black tube wrap around her chest, and long white tights for bottoms, her fiery red hair tied in a long ponytail. She has a pair of white gloves on either hand, pumping her fists to the tune of Kate Bush’s Runnin’ Up That Hill. Up next, The “Mad Dog” Maddie Ziegler strides onto the stage and strikes a pose of her own with two hands to the side and a practiced dancer’s twirl. The Dollhouse rookie star is clad in a neon yellow sports bra and long electric dark blue tights, her blonde hair in a royal looking bun and she’s wearing blue boxing gloves, looking ready to rock as the fans go wild for her!

In the ring, the referee gets the nod from both corners and signals for the bell! HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
Patient and balanced - that’s how we’ve usually described Maddie’s moves, and she doesn’t disappoint here as well. First minute sees both girls circling from afar, trading leather to the arms, both sides seeking the face for the first stunners of the evening. Maddie’s more used to dancing, moving faster and shooting in combos with greater speed, tagging Sink on the forehead and body with some early thudding action. Sink on the other hand appears to be biding her time, looking slightly unsure of her foe’s capabilities, especially this early on in the fight. She responds to the Doll’s attacks with that right jab of her own, not tagging Ziegler as often but landing her fair share of early pokes and prods to the cheek and body. Bell rings and Ziegler perhaps edges her out by a close margin, but not really by much.

ROUND 2:
Sadie’s at a reach disadvantage here but that doesn’t stop the redhead from playing the aggressor. She absorbs Maddie’s combos on the way in and then fires swift overhands over the Doll’s arms, out of nowhere, stunning Ziegler between the eyes at the end of the first minute. Ziegler wasn’t paying attention, underestimating her foe too early on, to her own detriment. She spends the second minute trying to get out of range of Sadie’s attacks, with the shorter redhead charging her down and sinking several shots into her body and arms, hoping to overwhelm her early and score an upset. Maddie successfully controls her for the rest of the round, however, creating enough distance to blast more left-right combos into her arms to stay her hand, and Sink has to be satisfied with a wide round for her earlier efforts.

ROUND 3:
Maddie plays it cautious in the first minute, which has mixed results. She’s better able to control Sadie’s advances on her position, but at the expense of her own lack of points being scored. Sadie just raises her gloves and intercepts those patented Dollhouse jabs, then responds with a snap shot to the body or up into the nostrils, still taking the Doll by surprise. Ziegler was perhaps briefed on her counterpart’s lack of reach, but didn’t quite anticipate Sink’s aggressive moves to make up for the deficit. Ziegler takes another cross punch between the eyes, which snaps her head back and makes her wince hard in pain. Crowd ROARS as Sadie rushes inwards, hoping to capitalize!! Ziegler takes more dull shots off the tummy and ribs, then gets blasted across the face with a right hook, with another swing across the temple sending her REELING!! AND MADDIE GOES DOWN!! Sink showcases her power here as she sends the Dollhouse blonde off balance before collapsing down to her knees! Sadie confidently struts back to her corner, thinking this fight is as good as done! But Maddie’s slowly getting back up, a look of sheer concern in her eyes, as she wills herself to her feet by the count of 8! This fight is going to continue, despite that early scare!

ROUND 4:
Sink tries to dart in to mop things up, finish the Doll off before she can gain the upper hand again. Maddie’s putting up a brave front, however, locking her arms over her face and taking and taking those combos left and right. It’s working, for now, with Sink having to dip low and blast away at the Doll’s body instead, sapping the wind out of Ziegler’s sails, but it’s not the same effect as knocking her head off its hinges. Maddie gets away in time, panting hard but still staying alive, and manages to punch back in the second half with that strapping right cross delivered square to the middle of Sink’s arms, which pushes her back and stops her right in her tracks for the rest of this round. Ziegler pulls out a miracle by the bell, fending off the earlier assault and then edging out her rival by a razor thin margin.

ROUND 5:
Sink still needs time to catch her breath, as an early rush towards Maddie ends in abject failure. Maddie is just too fast, too energetic, too early, showering Sink with counter-attacks and stopping her advance too early for the redhead’s surprise attack to be effective. Maddie starts pushing inwards herself, rocking the redhead with a dipped low swing to the body before blasting her with another right cross to the arms. Sink gets defensive, wincing from her opponent’s power and her own lack of stamina to keep pushing forward, and forced to play catch-up here. Maddie picks her apart one forward foot at a time, before catching the Stranger Things starlet with another cross-hand to the chin! Sink grunts out loud, backing away and looking stunned! Ziegler LEAPS IN and starts WAILING away at her undercarriage, left-right uppercuts pumped into the area just above the waistline before slamming a bigger hook to the face - Sadie lets out a shout of pain as the glove catches her off the temple, sending her REELING off to one side!! Sink barrels into the nearby ropes, but doesn’t have enough sense to latch onto them to steady herself, FALLS BACK DOWN before rotating onto her back, her drowsy face turned towards the stadium lights!! And this might be it!?! Referee is already hovering over her, starting the dreaded count, as Ziegler circles back to her corner, smirking confidently, the Doll raising a fist to acknowledge her loyal fans! Referee hits the count of 10 and poor Sadie is still tits up and lying spreadeagled, her chest rising and falling but remaining utterly knocked out cold! The ref has no choice but to WAVE the rest of this fight off!

Official Decision: Maddie Ziegler defeats Sadie Sink via KO5!

AFTER:
A sigh of relief and a big smile from Maddie and her team signals the end of this contest as Ziegler raises her arms and proceeds to hug her corner personnel including head trainer Loken.

The proud blonde gets her hand raised by the referee while Sadie’s team rush into the ring to attempt to bring their fallen redhead back to reality, but Maddie, who seems pretty disinterested in her opponent’s fate - begins her victory lap around the ring, waving to her many fans who certainly got their money’s worth tonight with another impressive performance from the Dollhouse dancer who’s been rising through the flyweight ranks at rapid speed this year.

At ringside, Maddie is asked about the fight and remains respectful to her opponent. “It was a good fight. Sadie’s a fighter. I knew it coming into this fight and I totally felt it in the 3rd round when she knocked me down… the 4th was pretty scary because I knew she was going to go all out but I’m pretty proud of my defense and was able to get through it. I got back into it in the 5th and I felt she was tired and she just couldn’t handle me at that point. Good fight to her….she’s good.”

A difficult fight for Ziegler tonight which almost went the wrong way but the Dollhouse rising star was able to turn things and take the fight to Sadie and get the promised knockout. After two impressive wins over Russell and Tiger Free, the redhead has suffered her 3rd defeat and goes to a 2-3 record, while Maddie scores her 3rd win in a row, improving her record to 10-2.

With only one more month left for the year, we look forward to finding out if Ziegler will choose to grace us with one more fight to end the year with - hopefully with a bang!
