Peyton List vs. Emily Bett Rickards (Results: Lookout. Words: Wiz)

BEFORE:

Blonde battle features dangerous Emily, who's been in a slump of late, against Peyton, who's stabilized her career since signing with Front Street. There's mutual respect between the two, and that becomes obvious in the prefight. "She's definitely gotten things turned around," says Emily with a smile. "But. She's gonna be the second 'Peyton List' I beat. Count on that."

"Emily's about to find out," says Peyton with a smile. "Who the REAL Peyton List is."

ROUND ONE:

Rickards pushing forward immediately. She's athletic and has excellent power for the weight, and she wants to bring that to bear on Peyton. List, though, not having any. She's sticking that long left in her rival's face, stopping her with it, then following with solid right hands. It's really good stuff from the younger blonde, a clinic on keeping a girl off. Peyton's not really sitting down on much, but she's doing just enough of that to let Emily feel some power. And Rickards feels it. That doesn't stop her trying to get physical though. She's determined to take this fight to the younger woman. But, in this stanza at least, she can't get it done. Instead, it's Peyton who's in control throughout, and, when the bell rings, there's no doubt of the result. It's List and wide for the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Richards more circumspect this time. Rather than pushing in, she's WORKING in. List has gotten the respect she wants. But, that's all she's gotten. BOOM! RIGHT HAND, EMILY AND PEYTON IS HURT! That quickly, List is GOBSMACKED and nearly goes down. And now Rickards is ALL IN. She's winging away with both hands, forcing the younger blonde back into the ropes working her over to the body, then going upstairs with solid right hands. Ref on high alert as List is looking more than ready to go. Peyton clinching. Emily stacking. Peyton keeping the guard high, Emily bouncing hooks off it, then going downstairs with some NASTY body punches designed to bring that guard down. Doesn't work. Peyton keeps it high and keeps running clock to get to the bell. When it rings, though, Rickards has taken it wide to even things at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Rickards rolling. Older blonde has everything working for her now, and she's working OVER List. Peyton's legs are still unsteady and she's able to do little more than give ground and counter in spots while Emily piles up points and punishment. This, this right here is all that potential everyone knows Rickards has. It's complete stuff. Boxing ability. Quickness. Fluid motion. Great feet. And power. Power some lightweights would love to have. And, she's bringing all that to bear on Peyton List. By the final minute, the younger blonde is back on the ropes and getting worked over. She's firing back here and there, but there's no question who's in command, nor has there been for the entirety of the round. At the bell, it's Rickards wide and Emily's pulled into a 29-28 lead.

ROUND FOUR:

Rickards working forward, backing up List. Peyton firing back a bit more now, but still in retreat. BOOM! Right hand counter, LIST! Peyton sets the feet and lands a SCINTILLATING right and EMILY IS HURT! Rickards GOBSMACKED as List lets the hands go in a big way. Peyton MEASURING Emily with the left, sitting down on VICIOUS right hands. Rickards wobbling, but staying on her feet. Ref on a hair trigger, though, not going to watch too much more of this. Soon enough, the older blonde is on the ropes and the younger goes body, tenderizing tummy and ripping ribs. Rickards tying up, holding on, forcing breaks, running clock. Final thirty seconds sees Emily banging back, even working her way off the ropes, but the damage is done. At the bell, it's List wide and we're even at 38.

ROUND FIVE:

Ladies settle into some two-way stuff for the first time all night. Rickards moving, dipping, slipping, looking to step forward and bring the physical. List wants space, jabbing for it, following on with right hands and right hooks. Not a lot in it, as both blondes get some work done. BOOM! Right hand, PEYTON! List sets up a BRUTAL right to the chin with a perfectly timed jab and Emily is HURT! Rickards covering up, backing up, Peyton calling in the artillery, working over her rival with hard shot to both head and body. And DOWN GOES EMILY! a right hook from Peyton sends Rickards to the canvas! Peyton to a neutral corner. Emily down on her right side. Rickards rolls to hands and knees, grabs the bottom rope, straightens up, begins to stand, but, it's TOO LATE! Emily is still on her knees as the count passes her by and it's OVER! And your winner by KO5 is Peyton List!

AFTER:

"She's exactly what they say she is," says a scuffed Peyton. "Has as much power as anyone I've ever fought. Really good at just about everything. Thing is, maybe I wasn't, always, but I'm becoming pretty good at a lot of things, too."
