Anne Hathaway vs Julia Roberts

This bout came together quickly when a nameless billionaire offered both boxers a very sizable check to face each other. Both accepted and here we are for this bout between Anne Hathaway and Julia Roberts.  It was a case of a rising young talent against a veteran battler and argues could be made either way as to who was favored for the contest.

Julia gets off to a fast start repeatedly driving Anne into the ropes in the first two innings with pounding body action. Anne rallied in the 3rd with a series of uppercuts to Julia’s chin that turned Julia’s legs to rubber but Anne not quite able to get her down.  Julia came back strong in the 4th, swiveling Anne’s head with big rights and lefts to the jaw. Anne was again driven into the ropes for more body punishment.

Julia thus  held a lead on the scorecards after four rounds against the younger actress. She had  survived a bad R3 and come back to win R4 by a wide margin. The fifth round began with both boxers jabbing but Anne surprised all by hitting Julia with a clean right hook to her body. This seemed to freeze Roberts as the air went out of her. Hathaway then hit her with a 3 punch combination that now had the redhead backing away. Anne followed with a couple more straights to Julia’s face that now had her controlling the bout. Hathaway went into Roberts’ body with a couple more hooks that had Julia sagging. Anne then crossed Julia’s face with a smoking left and right. AND JULIA GOES DOWN! Hathaway goes to a neutral corner and watches the count begin. She is more surprised when Julia is on her back grabbing for the ropes as the count passes seven. Ten soon passes and Anne is the winner smiling in the neutral corner.

Hathaway soon has her right arm raised as she is receiving surprising cheers here for her win. She tours the ring posing for the cameras and the fans.

“Annie had been taking a lot of body punishment from Julia, but she showed how deadly accurate her own body work could be. She landed in just the right spot to freeze Roberts and then moved to finish the job. It showed Anne Hathaway was the Real Deal,” celebrity boxing  historian K.O. Kapowski has written.
