Anya Taylor-Joy vs Elettra Lamborghini

(Writing: LMW / Results: Lookout!)

Anya Taylor-Joy
(26, 5’7, 17-5 FCBA, League of Mighty Women)

Elettra Lamborghini
(28, 5’5, 27-10 FCBA, Italians Boxing Better)

Pre-Fight: League of Mighty Women’s young star Anya Taylor-Joy will be facing Italians Boxing Better’s JMD star Elettra Lamborghini up next. Anya will be looking to bounce back from her dreadful loss to Samara (Weaving) and end this year of mixed results on a high note. On the other hand, Elettra will be looking to build up on her earlier win from this month and get another signature win in conventional fights.

Anya kicks off the pre-fight press conference with a serious expression on her face. “I’m still angry about what happened in my last fight, but I’ll make Samara pay for it in the future! In the meantime, I will take my frustration out on Elettra. She seems to be the bully type like Samara and I’m done playing nice against them!”

Elettra doesn’t look worried about the intensity of her opponent as she begins her address with a smirk on her face. “I don’t get why she is angry, but I can understand why she would be jealous of me. I’m bigger, curvier, stronger and just better! I’m also a physical fighter and everyone knows that Anya can’t deal with that!” Elettra laughs in her opponent’s face as Anya stares at her intensely, but the press conference comes to an end without issue.

It is fight night and Anya is the first fighter to make her entrance with her coach Gillian Anderson accompanying her. It is curious as there were rumors that Anya once again had some trouble with her usual coach, Summer Glau, who will not be on her corner tonight. Anya only acknowledges the fans cheering for her with a nod as she looks focused for the fight.

She is wearing a black sports bra, matching trunks, red gloves and boots, while her hair is tied into a ponytail.

Elettra makes her entrance next with her coach following close behind her. She blows kisses to the fans cheering for her as she walks towards the ring. When she enters the ring, she twerks for a bit, which gets another loud cheer from the crowd. She also blows a kiss towards Anya with a smirk on her face, but only gets a cold stare back from her opponent.

She is wearing a leopard print bikini set that matches her tattoos, black gloves and boots, while her hair is pulled back into pigtails.

Both fighters come to the center of the ring to listen to the final instructions from the referee and then Elettra offers the touch of gloves with a smirk on her face, but Anya refuses, which is uncharacteristic of her. They step back and we are ready for 10 rounds of bantamweight action!

Fight: Round 1: Elettra on the attack as she tries to get inside and start an exchange, but Anya is the first to score as she lands a one-two combo during her opponent’s approach and then steps back. Unlike the last time, it looks like Anya will be sticking with her game plan and not get tricked into brawling with an opponent that likes physical fights. Whenever Elettra starts getting close, Anya repels her with double jab-straight combinations and she seems to be putting a bit more force behind those as she wants to do some damage early on. Even when the Italian gets inside successfully, she can only land one or two body shots before Anya answers with a combination and steps out of the exchange.

Elettra gets frustrated throughout the round, but as she gets more frustrated Anya finds more openings and lands those precise combinations to continue this vicious cycle. The Italian looks shell-shocked in this opening round as she can’t get any offense going and she gets hit on the head repeatedly. Anya wins the round easily as she looks like a woman on a mission.

Round 2: Elettra keeps coming forward early in the second round as well, hoping for a different outcome this time. However, Anya makes sure that everything stays the same as she tags Elettra with a one-two combo as soon as she gets within her reach. With the way Anya is focused right now, those short combinations look almost like clockwork. Elettra keeps eating her opponent’s punches, but to her credit, she doesn’t back up and instead keeps going forward, trying to get inside. It is only in the final minute that she succeeds and forces a longer exchange in the pocket. The Italian lands a lead uppercut to the abs and a few hard hooks to the ribs before Anya can answer with a shovel hook and step back. Elettra finally gets something going, but Anya still ends up controlling the majority of the action in this round, so she wins it and gets further ahead on the scorecards.

Round 3: Both fighters stick to their own approaches in the third round. However, it looks like Anya is getting tired of repelling Elettra with combinations from range, while the Italian doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. As a result, Elettra is able to get to the inside and force exchanges from there more often in this round. It is Elettra’s turn to get the upper hand and she is punishing her opponent’s body with shovel hooks and uppercuts as if to take revenge for the damage she received in the previous rounds. Anya is having trouble dealing with it as these inside exchanges against physical opponents has been the bane of her existence this whole year. She tries to answer back with single punches and when that fails as a deterrent she tries to step back, but Elettra follows her and starts another exchange immediately. Elettra’s relentless attacks only end with the bell, giving her a big round win to close the gap on the scorecards. During the break, Gillian applies ice packs to Anya’s midsection while telling her not to get caught in these types of exchanges again.

Round 4: Elettra wants to continue from where she left off as she is the one trying to force exchanges again. However, Anya is making some adjustments as she is now using a single defensive jab and keeps her feet moving to stay outside of her opponent’s range rather than trying to repel her. With this new tactic, she is able to keep the Italian at bay for the first half of the round and during that time the pace slowed down considerably. In the second half, Elettra starts cutting angles to catch her opponent and she does so as we enter the last minute of the round. She lands a couple of shovel hooks to Anya’s tummy, but the LMW fighter decides to clinch with her opponent instead of trying to fight her way out of it like she did last time. Elettra continues to hit her opponent with body shots from the clinch, but then Anya puts her forearm against her face and pushes her off to land a one-two combination. Clinching, pushing and shoving between the two for the rest of that final minute. Not much action in the first part and the action in the second part is hard to judge, so this one goes down as a draw, which means that Anya is still in the lead.

Round 5: Both fighters are frustrated with each other after the previous round, so they want to go at it early in the fifth. They meet at the center of the ring and settle for a mid-range exchange. Anya makes the opener with a one-two combo, which is answered by Elettra with a right hook to the jaw and a left hook to the ribs. Anya returns the favor with an identical combo and then she blocks further attempts by Elettra to the body. They continue to stand and trade. Anya throws a big hook, but Elettra acts quicker and lands an uppercut to the body, which makes her opponent miss. She swings with a hook of her own, but this one misses too as the LMW fighter dodges it and comes back with a cross that lands hard. The Italian fighter might be hurt by that last punch as she backs away and starts circling the ring, shifting to a more defensive approach, which is uncharacteristic for her. Anya is content with landing short combinations for the rest of the round. She wins the round and further extends her lead on the scorecards.

Round 6: After getting a breather during the break, Elettra is back on attack at the beginning of the sixth round. Anya isn’t backing down either, so they start with another early exchange. Elettra lands a jab up top and then goes to the body with a hook to the ribs. Anya misses with a double jab, but then scores with a hook to the jaw. They continue to trade leather with both fighters landing some shovel hooks to each other’s tummy. Anya fakes a jab and then slips a straight between her opponent’s guard that lands hard on the nose. Elettra’s nose starts to bleed, but she doesn’t back up and returns fire with two rapid shovel hooks to the body. However, another stiff jab-cross combination from Anya forces the Italian to step back. This time Anya is not willing to let her opponent go, so she puts more pressure on Elettra with combinations up top. The Italian covers up, so none of them lands cleanly, but she is still in trouble. Anya goes to the body with a couple of hooks to the ribs, forcing her opponent to protect her body. She fakes another hook to the body, but goes to the chin with an uppercut instead. Elettra is on shaky legs, her guard is down and nose bleeding. A left and a right hook to the chin leaves her barely standing. Anya capitalizes on it with an uppercut to the chin that lifts Elettra off her feet and she lands with a loud thud on her back, spread-eagled! The referee takes a look, realizes that Elettra is knocked out cold and waves it off! It is all over!

Official Result: Winner via KO in round 6, Anya Taylor-Joy!

Post-Fight: A surprising aggressive celebration from Anya as she quickly walks over to her defeated opponent and plants her right foot on Elettra’s tummy while raising her left fist. Gillian comes over and gently pulls her away as Elettra’s coach and the medical staff also arrives on the scene to check up on her. Gillian congratulates her fighter and tries to calm her down, while on the other side they let Elettra take her time to recover and then the medical staff help her off backstage for further assistance, but we are told that she will be alright.

After getting her hand raised by the referee, Anya quickly demands the microphone to make her statement. “This is how I deal with bullies from now on! Did you see that Samara!? This is what you will get when we meet next time!” She drops the mic and walks off the ring followed by her coach Gillian.

Anya ends her bumpy season with a victory, which she probably hopes will be a good sign for next year. She was also more aggressive and feisty than usual, so it will be interesting to see if she continues in this manner. As for Elettra, she was very effective when she was able to force her opponent to engage in inside battles, but she couldn’t do that for long stretches, which sealed her fate. She also had a bumpy season, but she will still end it with a positive record and knowing that she had a JMD title reign this year.
