CH BREC BASSINGER VS MILLIE BOBBY BROWN

FCBA FLYWEIGHT TITLE BOUT

Brec: 23 YO, 5’2 (1.57 m), 16-9-0, 16 KO since 2019, Pretty Little Punchers

Millie: 18 YO, 5’4 (1.62 m),12-0-0, 12 KO since 3/25/22. Lookout! Boxing

Before: “How could I not offer next title shot to Millie? I mean, she has been burning up the Flyweight Division since she started in March. I2-0 for someone who is only 18. That’s got to be a record,” declares Brec Bassinger at the prefight presser, “but all winning streaks come to an end. So I thought I should be the one to end it in a fight for the title belt. I expect her to go down hard, but she will go down at the end.”

Millie Bobby Brown smiles: “I would not count on that happening Brec. I have met a lot of very good flyweights this year and they have all gone down. I am not saying that to brag. It’s just a fact. I suppose some day I’ll lose, but it’s not going to be in this fight. You see, I feel I have fought my way to this chance to snag that belt and I am not about to let it slip away. I am grateful be here, but I will be even more grateful to bring home that belt in my first year. Lookout Boxing has been of so much help and encouragement that winning the title would be a perfect holiday gift for them.”

Brec listens to this stirring tribute and smiles mischievously: “Well, you will have at least got a shot at ‘Best Sucking Up to the Boss in Her Rookie Year.’”

Millie frowns: “That is not funny. I am very sincere.”

“Oh, I am sure you. They must really know how to stoke your ego,” Brec added.

“It’s not ego if you can do it and my undefeated record in 12 fights speaks for itself,” Millie retorted.

“Nevertheless you still have to remind everyone about it,” Brec pointed out.

“Oh yes, I am sure it bothers you that you have lost 9 times and I have NEVER lost,” Millie snaps back.

“I don’t like losing and neither will you when I leave you 12-1,” Brec fired in reply.

“And you are going to hate it when I strip that belt from your waist,” Millie warned.

“You haven’t done it yet. So don’t count on it happening!” Brec declared.

The two young women were now glaring at one another. PLP’s Communications Director Autumn Reese appeared at Brec’s side.

“Come on Brec, save it for the fight,” Autumn whispered.

“Yes, Brec, save I for the fight—you will need it!” Millie said with a smirk.

Brec looks ready to take an early swing at Millie Bobby Brown, but she is held back by Autumn Reeser. Auumn then steers her charge off the stage as Millie looks on in bemusement.

“Sorry folks, I am afraid that’s it, see you all after I win this fight,” Milly told the assembled scribes and fans.

“NO YOU WON’T!” Brec Bassinger is heard to shout from the wings, but she is now out of sight.

The ill-will between Brec and Millie is still strong as they appear in the ring for the title fight. The crowd seems to love the “grudge match” aura and are waving signs and banners of support for their favored fighter. Millie Bobby Brown is first to the ring. She is wearing a light blue one piece swimsuit with dark blue gloves and boots (light blue laces). MBB’s hair is loose, but wetted down. Then the Defending Champion appears in a red one piece swimsuit (high cut) with black gloves and boots (red laces). Brec’s hair is in ponytail. The two face off. Brec ism smirking at Millie while Millie is glaring back. Referee has a sternly remind the two young fighters to listen to his instructions. They settle down long enough to get through these formalities and then quickly SMACK (not touch) gloves before going to their corners. Then the bell rings…..

R1: BB out quickly and goes to the head with a steady barrage of jabs. MBB smacked up around the face and side of the head hunches up. Brec now putting hooks into Millie’s ribs, but Millie firing right back into Brec’s midsection. Intense body action up close and personal as the two young boxers strive to dominate. Brec getting better leverage with her feet, allowing her to pump more power into Millie’s abs. Millie forced slowly backwards as the round draws to a close. The judges find it a a close round, but give a narrow edge to Brec.

R2: Millie the quicker out of the gate this round and she gives Brec a swiping mouthful of leather to get things started. Brec put on her heels, raisin g her mitts to protect her head, but now Millie has the chance to work over Brec hard to the rib cage, belly and eventually her chest. Brec fighting back against the body barrage with one of her own. Millie getting pounded to the torso, but she continues her own attack. Even trading through the middle minute, but then Millie gets one hook after another into Brec’s gut. Brec suddenly gasping for air and falling back to catch her breath. Millie now pumping jabs into Brec’s head, Brec countering, but taking more than she’s able to give back. Round ends and this time it is Millie with a close win of the round.

R3: Millie again out quickly and opens with a fresh series of shots to the stomach. Brec struggling forward, but then Millie lands a crackling right to the chin. Brec is staggered by the blow and stumbles back in disorder. Millie leaping forward with shots to the head. Brec manages to cover up, but not before she’s gotten lumped up around the cheekbones and jaw. Millie then returns to working Brec to the body. She’s scoring well at this point as Brec is only belatedly able to get some decent counters going to avoid a shutout. Still, Millie Bobby Brown wins the round wide.

R4: MBB rolling forward out of her corner with confidence, but promptly runs in a BB counterattack. First shot catches Millie between eyes turning her leg to rubber. As MBB is floundering backwards on quivering stems, Brec is pressing in banging shots off Millie’s head and adding some nasty hooks to the belly. Millie driven back into the ropes and just a she hits them, Brec gets in a sneaky right uppercut to the chin. DOWN GOES MILLIE! MBB’s legs shoot out from under her and she is dropped to a sitting position with her back against the ropes. Brec trotting back to the neutral corner and then looking back as the referee stands over the stunned Millie and counts. Millie comes out of her stupor and is able to use the handy ropes to pull herself to her feet in time to break the count. Brec waved back in, but Millie prudently just goes into a tight turtle-like defense and Brec has to settle for whacking away at the challenger’s flanks and shoulders to the bell. Knockdown assures Brec Bassinger of a wide win this round.

R5: Lookout corner crew working hard to get Millie out for the new round, but she is slowly to come out and very defensive. Brec eager to finish Millie off and is punching as she circles around the clearly hurting challenger. Millie shows discipline in being able to keep herself mostly covered up with just few flurries of counterpunches to keep Brec wary. Brec looking dominate and wins the round easily, but MBB not hurt this round either.

R6: Sure enough, Millie Bobby Brown comes out swinging in this round and Brec Bassinger gets her head swiveled from unexpected rights and lefts to the jaw. Brec looks startled as she tries to put some distance between herself and the resurgent MBB. Millie bobbing and weaving, doing her best to keep Brec confused and off balance. Brec trying to get at Millie to the head, but she’s taking a lot of head shots herself. BB finally forced onto the defensive and just try to keep from being driven into the ropes. Rounds ends with Brec dripping with sweat and breathing hard as Millie looks quite pleased with her big comeback round.

R7: BB on the counterattack as the round commences. She is fast out of her corner and firing away at MBB to the head and jaw. Millie banged up by these blows, but punches Brec right back to the head and jaw. Two then trade big right and left hands that leave both of them lumped up and oozing blood from their faces. They both momentarily drop back to try to clear the cobwebs, but then plunge into it again. Now they trade chin shots and again they both stumble back from the impacts, but Millie seems the quicker to recover. She lunges forward to smite Brec to the cheekbones and make her cover up. Then Millie works the belly with some hooks to finish things up. Late surge allows MBB to win a close round.

R8: Now it is the PLP corner crew being put to the test. They patch up their battered fighter as best they can and she does manage to move out reasonably well at the bell. Mille on the attack again, but this time she runs into Brec’s uppercut. Millie is whacked hard by successive Brec Bassinger right and left uppies and the impacts seem to leave hearing chirping birdies. MBB does instinctively bury her face in her gloves and Brec has go after the challenger to the belly. Brec working her elbows in and out like piston rods as she sends a doubled up Millie back first into the strands. Brec pounding away at Millie. She’s doing a lot of damage, but MBB not buckling as she stays up to the end of the round. Brec looking annoyed and frustrated as she watches MBB peel herself off the ropes. However, BB can console herself with winning the round wide.

R9: More work for the Lookout crew, but they do get Millie up and ready for the new round. Millie attacking, obviously wanting to answer Brec’s R8 offensive, Brec not about to let MBB regain momentum fights back hard. Furious battle back and forth across the ring. First it is MBB driving BB back with head and body shots, but then Brec blasts Millie with a right to the jaw and left to the chin. Brec then goes to body with hooks only to have an overhand right from Millie catch her hard to the right eye. Brec staggers, looks dazed by the blow, and looks around groggily. BOOM! Out of Brec’s new blind spot comes Millie’s right and it clouts Brec HARD! BREC SPUN AROUND—DROPS TO HER KNEES—AND TOPPLES ONTO HER SIDE!

Crowd is wild with excitement Millie Bobby Brown makes her way to the neutral corner and the referee starts to count. Brec is moving. She pushes herself up into a sitting position. She tries to stand, but falls back. The counting continues relentlessly. She tries to rise again. NoQ! She falls back again. She struggles to rise a third time but then seems to freeze.

“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!!!...YOU’RE OUT!”

THE WINNER AND NEW FCBA FLTYWEIGHT CHAMPION: MILLIE BOBBY BROWN BY KO9!

AFTER:

“NOOOOOOOOOO!!!” Brec wails as now, just a little too late, she makes it erect. Referee shakes his head and Brec stands there stricken, tears rolling down her bruised cheeks.

But Millie Bobby Brown is leaping into the air with excitement. Her Lookout teammates rush out to congratulate the young Champion. Millie makes her way over to the disconsolate Brec.

“You are so good Bassinger. You nearly had me,” Millie admits.

“But you got up and you beat me. I got to congratulate you, you have had won amazing rookie season,” Brec admits wiping at her tears, “but I just wish it didn’t hurt so much to lose. I really liked being champion. You better take good care of that belt.”

“Don’t worry, I plan to, and look at this way: we’re both pretty young. This is only the start foi us. I think fighting you was a terrific challenge. I am sure we’ll be doing it again for years to come.”

“I do too—but next time I’m gonna beat that count,:” Brec said.

The two young fighters hug and then Millie leaves for the ceremony where she is formzlly awarded the FCBA Flyweight Championship belt.

Quite a battle of young flyweights. Millie Bobbie Brown climaxed an undefeated 13-0 rookie season by winning the Flyweight Title. It was undoubtedly a painful loss for Brec Bassinger who fought hard, but not hard enough to successfully defend her title for a second time. Flyweight fans have reason to be excite at 2023 begins with a very new face as the leader of the Division. How far she can take her unbeaten streak? MBB has left an impressive number of defeated opponents (to which the name of Brec Bassinger can be added) as potential future arch-rivals. As for Brec Bassinger, her brief time at the top will no doubt leave her eager to get back up there. 2023 could be an exciting one for her as well.
