BEFORE: Time for an old fashioned Disney clash between two former teenage queens of the genre - both calling Texas their home state - however fast forward 15 years and Selena Gomez has pulled away from Hilary Duff in several business categories including the ones that actually matter the most. Hilary's boxing career also took a major hit in the last few years but then she upset Victoria Justice during the VIX Operation Valkyrie and suddenly there's a chance she might not be completely washed up just yet!
Selena Gomez wears a crimson red bikini set & silver gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Hilary Duff wears a neon blue bikini set & black gloves. Long light brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Selena gets off to a quick start as she realizes Hilary might have nothing to lose so it's better to neutralize any danger right away however Duff is ready to match the initial attack which triggers a proper dust-up in the center of the ring. Selena drives her mitts into the fellow brunette's face and manages to knock her backwards but Hilary goes for the wild overhand swing response anyway and catches the Latina on the nose a couple of times which slows the Lioness progress. Both girls remain in close range dish out more heat up the middle where Duff holds her own until she gets whacked on the boobs and grinds into a halt while Selena duly clobbers her onto the ropes thereafter but runs out of time to add more punches on target.
Round 2:
More of the same in the second where Hilary jumps into a hectic aerial attack and nails the younger brunette with a couple of hard hits however she's unable to truly hurt the Lioness Latina. Both girls keep trading hard punches in the center of the ring which is more than enough to please the crowd anyway. LCA coach Eva Mendes begins to lose her patience as if she expected Gomez to blow Duff away within seconds but it's easier said than done and even some of Selena's hard shots into Hilary's face don't carry enough power supply to leave her on top; Duff works herself back into contention spraying a sudden body assault in the final minute and she cripples Gomez with a vicious shot in the liver area followed by a nifty one-two on the chin that wobbles the younger woman onto the turnbuckle right at the bell.
Round 3:
Hilary runs up the jabbing drive and lands several clean shots into the Latina's face before dropping a left hook on the jaw that staggers Gomez back to the ropes. Ugh! Selena tries to swing from that spot rather than use her footwork to escape the looming collision course but she misses with her approach and has Duff piling on more leather up the middle to shock some fans in the audience. Roll back the tape to mid 00s after all and Hilary buries the younger Disney princess behind a desperate earmuff while landing more vicious shots on target. Selena's guard barely survives the onslaught but the Latina woman gets pounded back to the turnbuckle and eats more leather like she's the alleged over-the-hill fighter in this contest. Hilary gets pulled away at the bell and yells back at the LCA corner to indicate she's not quite done here after all.
Round 4:
Hilary seeks immediate success and squares up to the seemingly wounded Gomez but the initial approach fails to break through the tight guard before Selena lands a quick one-two on the chest and plugs the older actress on the solar plexus. Ugh! Hilary refuses to back off and hopes she can dominate the younger brunette in close range again but an overhand dispute nails her on the nose and staggers her back to the ropes when Gomez finds the ultimate power punch from the left. She tags Duff on the ear one more time and drives a hard uppercut on the chest to drop her into loud spasms. Uh-oh. Hilary is still too proud to back off and takes a wild left hook on the ear that FOLDS HER FACE DOWN ON THE CANVAS deep into the final minute. Selena struts back to her corner and she's fortunate it's not quite 2006 anymore so Duff is unable to beat the count in time! KO4 Selena Gomez!!!
AFTER: The eventual result doesn't tell the full story as Hilary showed enough grit to give Selena plenty of trouble before a slugging tactics gone wrong gave the younger woman a deciding break. As game as Duff proved to be, she couldn't overcome this elite test and she might have to settle for journeywoman deluxe career now that she's in her mid 30s. This being said the Disney period of her career should earn her more opportunities against the Next Gen upstarts.
