Diletta Leotta vs Kylie Jenner
(Results: Lookout. Words: Wiz)
BEFORE:
Battle of two hard-hitters known for punishing opponents and being more than a little direct in their respective approaches. Jenner's also plenty direct when it comes to making her opinions known, and tonight is no different. "She's overrated," Jenner says. "She's beaten a bunch of girls in a weak welterweight division. She wouldn't be top FIFTY at lightweight. She's not beating girls like Agdal, Turner, Swift and Lipa. She's a stiff. And, I'm going to blow her out of there."
"This girl is a one-trick pony," says Diletta. "All she can do is SLOP. Well. She's going to find out what happens when she gets in there with a REAL fighter."
ROUND ONE:
Jenner pushing forward, as you'd expect. And Leotta DOES expect it. She's got the range advantage in this one, and she's using it effectively early. She's snapping out that jab, banging it into Kylie's face, keeping the younger woman off with it. And it makes all the difference. Leotta's getting by far the better of things for the first half of the round. Then, the brunette starts finding ways past the jab and everything changes. Kylie's getting in Diletta's grill, banging her to head and body, forcing her backward, making up the early stagger. By late in the round, it's Jenner who's pulled into the lead and who has taken command of the fight. Leotta's spending far too much time backing and covering as Jenner gets off lusty to the bell. It's close for the cards, but it's Kylie who grabs the 10-9 lead.
ROUND TWO:
Jenner aggressively after Diletta. She's got something going and she's determined to keep it going. BOOM! DOWN GOES THE ITALIAN! A short left hook from Kylie and Diletta is deposited on her shapely posterior! Jenner glaring down at the blonde, ref turns her forcibly to a neutral corner. Leotta shaking the head as the referee counts down on her. Gets to her feet at eight. Takes the mandatory. And. On. Comes. Kylie. Slop? Yeah. There's a little of that, but, what there's plenty MORE of is HARD accurate shot landing to the Italian's head and body. Leotta's pinned to the cables, taking, trying to ride out the storm as the ref, on a hair-trigger, looks on. Diletta's does jusssstttt enough to keep him at bay to the bell, but, when it rings, Kylie's taken it 10-8 to push her lead to 20-17.
ROUND THREE:
Kylie trying to finish. Diletta trying to survive. This is when Jenner shines. She's got a wobbly opponent she can line up and punish with her estimable power. And, punish Diletta she does. For the first two minutes of the round, the brunette simply bangs away at the Italian, almost exclusively upstairs, looking for the shot that will finish her. But, Leotta hides the 'off' switch very, very well, and, late in the round, shakes the worst of the damage and begins to bang back. Jenner keeps pressing, determined to remain on the offensive, but the American starts taking more and harder shots than she's giving. By the bell, there's no doubt about the result. Jenner's taken the points wide to claim her third straight round. But, Diletta's clearly back in the fight, despite trailing 30-26.
ROUND FOUR:
Leotta working the jab again as she did in the first round. She's doubling up on it now, using it to keep Kylie off. Jenner less active this round, looking a little arm-weary after all the effort in the past two frames. Leotta uses that to her advantage. She's staying at range, using her reach advantage, actually doing a little boxing here. Kylie manages to close here and there, and works mainly body when she does, but, most of the time, it's Diletta getting the terms she wants, and it makes all the difference. The Italian is far from dominating. She's not putting punches together all that well, and Kylie's blocking some of what she's throwing, but the blonde's getting more done for the first time all night, and, when the bell rings, it's Leotta who takes the round close and cuts Jenner's lead to 39-36.
ROUND FIVE:
Jenner getting BACKED UP early. Diletta's getting more aggressive now. She's landing that left, dropping rights behind, then stepping to the shorter woman, punishing her to head and body. Kylie, obviously, not all that effective going backward, which is why the Italian is working so hard to keep her in reverse. Yes, the blonde is taking some chances, because one good shot can change everything, but the dice are not coming up snake eyes. Instead, Diletta is taking control of a fight she was nearly out of a few minutes ago. And, things just get better for the Italian as the round goes on. By the final seconds, she's hammering away as Jenner covers up, unable to get anything going on offense at all. At the bell, it's Diletta and wide, and Kylie's once huge lead has been halved to 48-46 at the half.
ROUND SIX:
Jenner determined to get out of reverse. Goes to a half-crouch, begins working forward instead of just walking forward. Kylie able to block some of the jabs, step to. BOOM! Right hook, Diletta! Leotta hooks the former JMDD champ to the left jug and FREEZES HER with the shot. Then, the Italian lets the hands go, sending Kylie staggering backward and DROPPING HER with a right cross! Crowd going nuts as Jenner is spilled to her back, eyes wide, staring up at the ref. It looks to be over, but it isn't. Instead, the brunette struggles to her feet at nine and takes the mandatory. Italian charges forward, batters the American back into the ropes, and HUP-HUPS the rack. Kylie crouching, trying to cover up, ROCKED with a left hook to the chin. She grabs Leotta to keep from going down and Dilietta responds by hooking more RACK. It's all too much! The ref leaps in and bundles Jenner to safety! It's OVER! And your winner by TKO6 is Diletta Leotta!
AFTER:
Italian beauty jubilant. "I wouldn't be a contender at light? She can't last at welter! A couple of good shots and she gives in. She was BEGGING for the referee to stop it when I had her at the end. She can't HANDLE welter power. And, she can't handle ME."
