Kyra Santoro vs Shay Mitchell

BEFORE:
Kyra Santoro striding into the press hall like she owns the place, the Vixen displaying uncharacteristic confidence coming into this fight.

“I’m here to knock Shay off her pedestal, and then it’s lights out for Demi on the beach as well,” Kyra smirks from her seat at the table. “I’ve finally got a road to the championship laid out in front of me. No one’s gonna stop me, including Shay.”

Mitchell equally gloating from across the room, the PLP starlet rolling her eyes at the Vixen’s comments, then adding her own:

“Poor little Kyra’s got an inferiority complex, eh? I’ve knocked out bigger and better girls than she claims to be,” Shay says, with a laugh. “If she wants to get into the Top Twenty rankings, she’ll have to get past me first.”

Girls size each other up on stage, chins turned up, hands on hips, both brunettes of the same height but Santoro packing more bulk, standing her ground against the leaner Mitchell. Before they get into a shoving and slapping match, the fight officials separate them with an arm between.

Fight night hours later and both girls enter the arena to loud, pumping music. Santoro’s in a white and loose crop top, black bikini briefs and red gloves. In the other corner, Mitchell’s sporting a black brassiere top, red trunks, and black gloves, looking toned for her age.

Referee signals for the start of this Bantamweight contest, and HERE WE GO with ten rounds of heart-thumping action!

ROUND 1:
Kyra with that lead jab, left hand shocking Shay early in a show of force. Mitchell, moving a little slower due to her being almost a decade older than the Vixen, has no choice but to cover up and hope for the best for now. Santoro is merciless in the first round, big tank of a woman heading straight in and hammering away at Mitchell’s arms, scoring off the body with a thunderous hook to the stomach, then immediately trying to take off her head with a follow up. Shay is adapting well, however, only punching back and inflicting damage in the last few seconds, that seasoned jab scoring more often on Kyra’s face. If Santoro wants to break into title contention discussion, she’s gonna need more in her arsenal to distinguish herself from the crowd of worthy contenders.

ROUND 2:
Mitchell’s found her winning formula, at least for now, jabs sent in at Kyra’s face from afar, pestering the bigger brunette with stinging attacks that keep her at bay. Santoro’s always been a mix between an offense and defense fighter, now can’t quite make up her mind either as she tries to rush Shay down, swinging hooks at her sides, but then gets stopped abruptly by a straight right hand that craters into her cheek. Second half has Santoro keeping back, reevaluating and covering her face up more often. But her own straight attacks are taken clean on Shay’s guard. Sure, Mitchell’s wincing slightly from tasting the Vixen’s power, but it’s not going to sway the judges by the bell. Wide round to Shay, who looks like she’s in control so far.

ROUND 3:
And here Shay comes, emboldened by her success and now stalking the Vixen back with more jabs galore! Kyra’s grunting and groaning as she tries to intercept them all, but fails, taking crisp shots to the nose and lips, then having her own waistline banged on as Shay reaches under the arms instead to hammer her points home. Mitchell’s leaner figure gives the agility and speed to outbox the younger Vixen, and for now, she’s making full use of this advantage. Kyra has no choice but to turtle up and breathe, hopefully survive till another round and hope that her opponent will be tired out by then. Last few seconds and Santoro opts for a counterpunching strategy, slamming a return cross into the nose to shock Shay slightly, right after the PLP starlet landed her own combo. It’s not going to move the needle, but it’s a good start to turn the tide.

ROUND 4:
Santoro has gotten better used to Shay’s movements, hammers the older brunette with a choice cross to the arms before another straightforward lunge under the arms catches her flush on the tummy. Shay left gasping, experiencing Kyra’s power first-hand. Santoro being methodical here, sacrificing her defenses in order to land more powerful (and significant) blasts to Mitchell’s platform, and it’s working! Shay gets torqued to the side when another right hook crashes into her raised arm, almost blowing her off the spot there and then. Kyra slowly stalks in, continuing to ignore the jabs landing to her body and concentrating fully on flinging her rage back with a bigger and better number. Shay left breathing hard near the ropes, rubbing both cheek and chest, realization dawning on her that she won’t be able to maintain her speed and pace forever.

ROUND 5:
Shay is still moving as fast as she can, however, surprising Kyra when she evades another wild overhand swing to her head, then punts a one-two combo straight to the Vixen’s chest and tummy. All that damage is SURE to add up and fell the bigger girl, no? Kyra growling, more pissed off for now, keeps trying to chase Shay down to punish her back. However, Mitchell digs deep, swerving this way and that, before scoring with another deft hook that dings off Santoro’s chin, making her entire body shudder! This looks BAD for Santoro, who wavers and stumbles off to one side, reforming just a little too slowly… allowing Mitchell to rip another hook across her face, before an uppercut to the chin sends her reeling!! SANTORO DROPS DOWN to her bum, shaking her head in shock! It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Shay Mitchell!! The almost Cougar celebrates with a wide throw of her hands into the sky, before striding to the nearby corner and mounting the second turnbuckle, a wide grin spread across her face! Meanwhile, Kyra’s slowly getting back up, a mean glare on her own face as she recovers by the count of 8, and growls at the referee she fully intends to continue. Things are not boding well for the Vixen, but hopefully we get a conclusion in the second half of this fight!

ROUND 6:
Here comes the sixth, and once again, Shay’s marching straight in, thinking this fight is as good as over, pestering Kyra’s arms with jab combo after jab combo. Kyra plays it cautious, arms locked over her head, and who cares about those left-right punches thudding into her taut torso? The Vixen has a surprise waiting for the overconfidence Mitchell, however, slapping her silly with a waiting right hook to the cheek, another ripping inwards from the other direction, cutting the wind from her sails in one fell swoop of a movement!! Shay looks stunned, her mouth hanging open in a permanent gasp, legs buckling further as she struggles to keep herself standing. But HERE COMES SANTORO, hammering more punches into her sides, cutting her in half with sharp blasts to her tummy and ribs, before whipping the older girl’s head to the side again with a step-in blast to the ears. Sooner rather than later, Shay lets out a painful groan, taking one hook too many and getting SENT OFF HER FEET and DOWN TO THE GROUND, her body half-spinning from the force of the hook, making her crash chin-first to the canvas! And just like that… It's a return KNOCKDOWN for Kyra Santoro, who huffs and puffs and blows the whole structure DOWN! Mitchell has shock written all over her face throughout the ten-count, clawing at the ground towards the ropes, but making little other effort to push herself back up! Referee has NO choice but to wave the rest of this fight OFF! It’s OVER!

Official Decision: Kyra Santoro defeats Shay Mitchell via KO6!

AFTER:
Kyra looks dominant in victory, beating her chest as she roars to the crowds on all four sides of the ring. If this doesn’t push the Vixen up the rankings a little, we don’t know what will. Then again, some pundits would say beating a girl ten years older was a done deal to begin with, and refuse to give the Vixen credit for doing so.

“Like I said, Demi’s next. And I’ve got scores to settle with the lot of other girls from my past,” Kyra says with a smile and nod. “2023 is shaping up to be MY year.”

For Shay Mitchell, things don’t look as rosy, the PLP starlet having to be treated in a corner of the ring by a host of medics and staff. Later, she gains enough of her voice to respond to reporters’ questions on the way out:

“Insolence, that’s what I think. These youngsters think they can blow past us just because they’re younger and have louder voices. I want a rematch at some point in the future, for sure,” Shay says with a twisted expression.
