NERIAH FISHER VS SOPHIE TURNER

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Neriah: 22 YO, 5’7 (1.70 m), 5-3-0, 5 KO since 2021, Odds and Ends Fight Studio

Sophie: 27 YO, 5’9 (1.75 m), 24-15-0 since 2015, Foxfire Boxing

Before: Young O & E lightweight Neriah Fisher is eager to take on Foxfire’s Sophie Turner. Neriah has gone 5-3 in 2021-22 finishing with back to back wins over Kelly Gale and Joy Corrigan. She had difficulties with more established fighters (her 3 losses were Evangeline Lilly, Troian Bellisario and Alexandra Daddario. She hopes to correct that against Sophie Turner.

“I admit I am learning, but I am learning fast. The wins over Gale and Corrigan have given me the confidence to believe I can beat Turner.”

For Sophie Turner, now in her 8th year of FCBA action, has compiled a decent 24-15 record, but she now has higher things in mind.

“What I want now is more title shots. I have had one back in 2020, but I lost it to Emily DiDonato. I realize I was only 2-2 in 2022 and 4-3 in 2021. You have to work to make yourself a serious contender and that’s what Neriah will be for me: one step closer to a title shot—a winning title shot this time!”

Neriah and Sophie seem cautious in their pre-fight comments apparently not wishing to motivate the other with an ill-chosen remark. Still, the tension of their clashing ambitions keep fan interest high. Much cheering as the twon eter the ring. Sophie in a blue-gray bikini trimmed in black with matching blue-gray gloves (black laces) bobbed blonde hair loose, but wetted down. Neriah in white bikini with black boots and gloves (white laces) hair in a ponytail. Ring instructions quickly gone over. Tap oif the gloves and back the fighter go to their corners.

Sophie covering up, trying to use the jab and scoring against Neriah’s ribcage, but Neriah getting some solid shots off Sophie’s head as round ends. Result is a close round that does to Neriah Fisher.

R2: Sophie fast out of corner and gives Neriah a crackling hard right to the jaw and follow-up left to the chin. Neriah wobbling, seeing stars, falls back and Sophie churns forward behind a punching barrage. Sophie none too pleased about this, turns on her heel and walks away as the dazed Neriah tries to get to her own corner.

R3: Sophie right back at Neriah, but Neriah is better prepared this time. Now, as Sophie starts swinging big for Neriah’s head, Neriah ducking under it and firing into Sophie’s chin. Sophie finally forced to back off and Neriah rolls after her. Big battle in the middle of the ring as Neriah clouts Sophie to the head and then hooks her to the belly. Sophie responding with hard ones that bounce off Neriah’s head. Neriah takes a lot of these shots, but finally she is forced to fall back, mitts at her head while Sophie works away at Neriah’s torso. Neriah then strikes back with a good chin chucker that has Sophie stumbling back. Neriah jumps after her only to get banged hard to the jaw by Sophie right hand. Two then pause and start back towards each other but time runs out. Much closer round, but Sophie Turner given the edge.

Sophie trying to steady the ship, but Neriah pouring on the punches hitting Sophie head and body in a bewildering barrage of leather. Sophie getting out of there as fast as she can, using jab to try to keep the rampaging Neriah at bay, but Neriah hounding her all around the ring. Neriah looks to be trying to pin Sophie to the ropes, but can’t quite pull it off. Rounds ends and Neriah Fisher has won this stanza wide.

R5: Neriah again on the attack as the new round opens. Sophie seems to have regained her composure and is showing a stubborn defensive action. Neriah finding her head shots now being blocked or blunted, goes to the body and Sophie responding with a body contact of her own. Two are looking each other in the eyes as they hammer away at rib, bellies and breasts. Steady, relentless whacking punches. Elbow moving in and out like piston rods. Staying eve much of the way, but late in the action, Neriah getting extra into her belly hooks, doubling Sophie forward and making her gasp with each fresh hook. Sophie forced back, but it is a slow retreat and though Neriah wins the round, Sophie Turner has kept it close.

Neriah writhing as the Sophie works her like the heavy bag in a gym! “CLINCH!” CLINCH!” Neriah’s frantic handlers are trying to shout over the roar of the bloodthirsty crowd. Neriah wraps her arms around Sophie in a bear hug that does stop the punching, at least until the referee can pry them apart. Sophie quickly trying to get back at it, but Neriah is retreating, trying to cover up while she regains her senses. Sophie now maneuvers to cut off the ring. Neriah trying to slip away, but each time Sophie blocks the escape route. Then Sophie closes in, she punches hard to the body, driving Neriah onto the ropes. Neriah huddling there, face in gloves, getting worked over and over. Neriah sagging under the prolonged punching, but she does not go down. Bell finally sounds to end Neriah’s ordeal. Neriah trying to hold her head up and march proudly to her corner, but her quivering legs make Sophie Turner wins round in a shutout.

R7: Intense conversation in the O&E corner. Neriah tearfully begging trainer not to throw in the towel. She insists she can come back and beat Sophie. Trainer looks doubtful, but yields to Neriah’s pleas. Neriah does her best to come out strongly, firing punches at Sophie, but reality overtakes her as a Sophie Turner right cracks into her jaw. Then a follow-up left smashes Neriah in the chin. NERIAH SHUDDERING AND COLLAPSES TO ALL FOURS—THEN TO HER FACE! Sophie heads for the neutral corner as referee counts. Everyone thinks this fight is over—BUT NO! Somehow Neriah Fisher has gotten to her feet to break the count. The referee isn’t at all sure this should go on, but he, too, yields to Neriah’s plea to let her continue. He waves an exasperated looking Sophie to come back in and she swiftly shows the fight should have been halted. Neriah driven to the ropes, tries to slide along them but Sophie is banging away at her head trying to get the stubborn younger woman down. Ringsiders are screaming for the referee to stop this! FINALLY! REFEREE STOPS THE MASSACRE! Referee cradles a still protesting Neriah to safety as Sophie raises her right arm in victory.

THE WINNER SOPHIE TURNER DEFEATS NERIAH FISHER TKO7!

After: “The fight should have stopped after the 5th!” Sophie Turner declares. “I am not here to seriously injure anyone, but some fighters just don’t know when it’s time to quit and fight another day. I do hope she’s all right after this and that she’s learned her lesson.”

O&E sources soon report: “Neriah will recover. She’s a brave one who didn’t want to just quit, but maybe now she’ll listen when we tell her the fight is over.”

Hard hitting fight with Sophie Turner just proving too much for Neriah Fisher tonight, Neriah had some good moments, but they weren’t enough. Sophie probably right that Neriah should have called it a night after that disastrous 6th Round, but one can understand not wanting to crush the fighting spirit of a young boxer by having her quit on her stool. Hopefully Neriah will soon recover from this setback and fans are looking forward to see if Sophie Turner will improve her contender status in the rest of the year.
