Robyn Lawley versus Ireland Baldwin

Ireland Baldwin still considered an interesting prospect in the welterweight division for 2023 as she tries to navigate unmanaged and hopefully get signed. That said, there’s trying to get noticed and there’s being reckless and many in the know think putting Baldwin in with Lawley is reckless! Ireland Baldwin being managed/trained by mother Kim Basinger, pumping up her girl in the corner before the bout“You’re every inch as big as this Lawley and when you drop her, the FCBA is gonna HAVE to take notice!”

Ringside, Poindexter Del Crunchy observes to the Man in the Hat, “It’s bloody true - Baldwin’s the same size as Lawley! It might unnerve that big girl to have to look an opponent straight in the eye!”

The Wiz, sipping a PBR, muses, “ Not the same size … the same HEIGHT … big difference! Baldwin weighed in for this fight at one hundred thirty six. Care to hazard a guess on Lawley? I’ll save you the trouble cuz I went to the weight in before betting this one … one hundred and eighty three pounds! Almost fifty pounds heavier … definitely not the same size!”

Round 1: Is this the future of the welterweight division? Gone are the days of the 5’10” battle cruiser Theron class - supplanted by 6’2” dreadnoughts?!! Ireland loose limbed and leggy. Up on toes, working perimeter, flashing jab - Lawley looks a little stiff by comparison. When Lawley looks to time a lunge, Ireland very quick to tie up. Robyn burning energy trying to work hands free and when ref breaks, Baldwin with veteran move of dancing behind the ref as she takes a convincing first round. Ringsiders nodding “Godzilla’s just getting warmed up”

Round 2: MCGee in corner, admonishing big girl, “Quit lookin’ for dat one shot. Just put hands on her! Ribs shoulders whateva … just put hands on her!” Big girl responds - battering lanky opponent with lefts and right - ribs, forearms, shoulders. Baldwin keeping composure, still working behind that long jab and mixing in the right behind it to keep Godzilla from just marching on her but a bruising second round for the kid!

Rounds 3-4: Baldwin leggy, showing ring generalship beyond her years, puts on a boxing clinic as she takes the third. Lawley responds to take the fourth based on pure weight of shot from those bludgeoning fists.

Round 5: Ireland gets the word in corner from Momma Kim, “Trading rounds won’t do it - they’ll steal the decision from you! We need something violent!”. Baldwin out as before, on toes, flashing jab, looking to lull the stalking Lawley - then straight right hand to the jaw that has the former champ with eyes and legs disorganized. Stumbles back, hand out to rope to stabilize, and Ireland on her fast - pounding left hand to the Lawley flan (and catching more than a little kidney). Robyn face scrunches in pain and she turtles up on the ropes. Baldwin going for broke - letting both hands go late in the round - pummeling the big girl who does nothing but take and take. At the bell, Baldwin boldly chest up with a stricken Lawley and Bassinger screaming like she just won the Academy Award!

Round 6: On precipice of upset of year, Ireland leaves corner with one word in her ear “FINISH!”. Baldwin now flatfooted, probing with jab and right hand cocked. She backs Lawley up with jab, spooks her with lead right … and walks into huge right hand. Baldwin gobsmacked …. face all “How could you?” … looking to backpedal but legs are hinky. Grim look on Godzilla’s face as she stalks - its search and destroy now! Baldwin in disorganized retreat - Kim Basinger imploring “MOVE!!!” but long right hand of Robyn like a heat seeking missile that detonates on chin and blasts the novice to her back. Count a formality - winner by knockout in the sixth round - Robyn Lawley. “Godzilla serving notice to Baldwin and perhaps some of the other young giants that there’s only one queen!
