BEFORE: Disney TV doesn't exactly broadcast boxing fights but these two actresses can truly exchange notes how to become teenage audience favorites if only Selena Gomez claims she's acheived higher levels of stardom compared to Peyton List's Cobra Kai signature effort. Then again Gomez is yet to claim the elusive FCBA championship belt and since she's on the wrong side of thirty some experts believe she's missed her window already. Over to Ms List who has posted 13-1 record since joining Front Street in May 2021 and might be on the verge of earning herself a title shot off Selena's stablemate Minka Kelly IF she can take Gomez out in first place.
Selena Gomez wears a leopard print bikini set & red gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a high ponytail. Peyton List wears a black crop top with yellow trim, matching hip-huggers & yellow gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a curled ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
All Peyton in the opener and she gives the more experienced opponent no respect whatsoever. Cobra Kai special in full swing that rocks Selena's head from the word go before the blonde gets versatile and pummels the exposed midsection as well. Selena in quick retreat, unable to match the blonde's pace, dances around in sheer avoidance and still looks outclassed for lack of a better word. Asylum chants in the audience, List flying to clobber Gomez back to the post, chops her in half and threatens a genuine whitewash that would truly put her on the verge of a championship battle according to BLONDE! Magazine pundits. Selena slumped at the bell, lost for answers already... loud pep talk from Eva Mendes during the interval.
Rounds 2 & 3:
Selena finds a gritty response and mostly limits the damage however Peyton feels she can break the Latina's resistance right away here and just piles on more leather regardless of the resistance. She offers impressive work rate but the damage factor shrinks in the process and leaves Gomez well-positioned for a counter-punching response that stalls List's progress down the stretch. Selena claws herself back into contention each time and claims she's not ready to be send down the gatekeeper path just yet. Pesky slugging rocks Peyton's pretty face and leaves her nursing swollen lips alas she's convinced Gomez didn't steal those two rounds outright...
Round 4:
Blonde girl on top... more body slugs soften Selena's stance and chase her out of the zone while Peyton crashes in with more quick strikes up the middle to drop the Texas woman into coverage. Perhaps Selena fancies the counter-punching success too much here and gets outworked by the numbers instead... List pressing on... cleans up the waist line and moves into a rare uppercut pounce... scores! Selena caved in along the ropes, looking second-best again, unable to find her rhythm while Peyton cleans up from point blank-range to resume control of the action.
Round 5:
Peyton in charge... beats Selena for the overhand swing and settles in from there to blast vicious leather into the brunette's face. Ugh! Some blood spilled in the process as Gomez's nostrils suffer beyond the resistance mark... List doesn't glue her attack upstairs and catches the reeling opponent on the midsection before a stray elbow on the breasts drops the older actress onto the ropes for good. Peyton doesn't let up and slams a rare uppercut combo on the chin followed by a hard one-line on the nose. Ugh! Big money shot right there that FOLDS GOMEZ TO TAKE A KNEE!!! Front Street coach Grace Park is ready to jump into the ring but the fight isn't quite over yet. Selena wipes the bloody nose and takes the count all the way to eight before getting up. Looking soft? You bet but Peyton has to finish her off... and she doesn't! A mis-timed attack bounces off the top of the brunette's forehead and wobbles her into a lenghty clinch as Gomez hangs on to reach the half-distance mark. Cobra Kai leads on the cards wide!
Round 6:
More blonde puffing and huffing... Peyton on the brink while she works from the inside when disaster strikes, Selena lands one quick harpoon on the liver area to open one hole up the middle... and Gomez cranks it up blowing a vicious uppercut combo on the chin to slump the Florida native into spasms. Ugh! Cue in another head-rattling combo on each temple and then Selena wrecks the blonde on the jaw with another power punch on the money! Look out... LIST GOES DOWN amid a wild cheer from the audience as the Hispanic voices come to the fore. Uh-oh!!! Grace Park cannot believe it... she screams out at Peyton to get up here and there's a brave effort from the blonde vixen, she is up at eight but still cuts a very hollow look in her eyes... ref calls her out... no response... and again... still nothing. Blank stares in the Front Street corner as the fight is waved off!!! TKO6 Selena Gomez in come-from-behind fashion!!!
AFTER: Shocking comeback that even the Lioness entourage finds hard to embrace here. Selena had the fight lost and somehow she pulled it back courtesy of one power series that broke her opponent's resilience against all reasonable odds. Peyton falls to 13-2 on Front Street duty and this one will sting for a while. Another case of Asylum fighter struggling to win "big" fights in the making. Even Eva Mendes admits the plan for Minka Kelly to consider Cobra Kai as her next title challenger was genuine. But it just didn't happen. Peyton is too shocked to respond to BLONDE! Magazine questions and storms out of the ring moments after the official verdict is announced. Check back at the Boxing World Online tomorrow!
