Brie Larson vs. Peyton List

(Results: Lookout. Words: Wiz)

BEFORE:

And, it's Xanatos Gambit time on PPV, because, tonight, blonde beauty Peyton List is about as on the spot as you can be in the FCBA. List's stable, in the wake of what it calls a "come from ahead to lose" defeat against Selena Gomez has given the blonde bantam an immediate chance to right the ship...and one heck of a challenge...in the person of Brie Larson, one of the first names mentioned when the discussion turns to elite bantamweights. Front Street is looking to "find something out" about Ms. List this evening, and one might legitimately wonder what it will do with the evidence it collects. But, if Peyton's feeling the pressure, she's definitely not letting on. "Yeah," she says with a shake of the head. "I let Selena off the hook last month. But, the takeaway there should be that I HAD Selena, who's a pretty damn good fighter, ON the hook. Well. Tonight, I'm going to hook Brie, and I'm not going to let her slip away."

"I'm not sure," says Brie with a smile, "Why Front Street would feed a girl who couldn't beat Gomez to ME. But, rest assured, I AM going to make a meal of her."

ROUND ONE:

And, the early returns do not look good for Ms. List. Brie gets to work immediately at range, getting her box on, putting Peyton on the defensive. Larson has a bit of reach, not much, but enough for her to make good use of it. She's getting the distance she wants, getting to the spots she wants, and getting off in combination, all while Peyton pretty much backs and covers, countering here and there, but unable to put punches together. And, things don't get any better for the blonde as the round goes on. She's not finding any solutions, as the brunette simply keeps doing what she does, piling up points and punishment. Final seconds sees a HARD right from Brie that snaps back Peyton's head and is a fitting finale for a round that the older woman wins wide to grab the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Better in the second for the younger woman after hearing it in the corner from Neve Campbell. She's getting BUSY now, getting the jab working, dropping right hands over top of it. Brie's responding in kind and terms are pretty much agreed upon. It's ranged boxing, just as we saw in the first, but, this time. List is able to hang with the brunette, giving as good as she gets, despite a very high work rate from Ms. Larson. It's the kind of round purists love, with both fighters boxing very well, using movement of hand, head, and feet, feinting, looking to create openings that can be filled with leather. And, to her credit. the blonde is able to hold her own and even a little more than that. When the bell rings, it's very close, but it's Peyton who gets the points and evens things at 19.

ROUND THREE:

More positive information for Front Street. It's another round of boxing, and, while Brie gets off to a hot start and gets List on the back foot again, Peyton won't stay there this time. She gets things going after about thirty seconds, and we're right back where we were in the second, with blonde and brunette fighting on even terms, mostly at range, with Brie on occasion, and, even more occasionally, Peyton, venturing forward behind a left jab, looking to sit down on a hard punch. Result is a very competitive round once again, with neither woman being able to build a solid lead. What ends up playing is that first thirty seconds when Larson grabbed, albeit briefly, the initiative. Those points prove to be the difference in another close round, as Brie gets the stanza and moves back into the lead 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Another round of ranged boxing looks to be in the offing early, as blonde and brunette, once again, set up at range and get the jabs working. Again, it's even stuff as Brie and Peyton trade combinations and neither can gain and adv...BOOM! Right hand, LIST and DOWN GOES LARSON! Out of NOWHERE, Peyton DROPS Brie with a beautiful one-two and this place is going NUTS. List to a neutral corner to watch and wait hopefully, but the brunette dashes the blonde's hopes, struggling to her feet at eight. After a mandatory, the ref waves on Peyton, who goes all in immediately. List calls in ALL the heavy artillery, driving Brie back into the ropes and battering her with both hands. Veteran Larson hanging on in a high guard, doing just enough to keep the ref at bay...and to survive to the bell. When it rings, though, Peyton's taken it 10-8 and pulled into a 38-37 lead.

ROUND FIVE:

List looking for the finisher and cleaning up while she does so. She's got Brie in reverse, and she's keeping her there with heavy fire. Larson willing to trade space for time, looking to get those legs back under her, but the blonde isn't just piling up points with all the hard shot she's landing. About mid-way through the round, though, Larson starts to shake the worst of the damage. She's still on the retreat, but now it's a fighting retreat. Brunette's landing solid shot in counter, and, while the blonde is still getting more done, it's no longer a romp for Peyton. Final seconds sees one of the best exchanges of the fight, with both women landing BOOMING right hands that snap back the heads of their respective opponents. At the bell, there's no doubt about the points. Peyton's taken it wide to lead 48-46 at the half.

ROUND SIX:

Ladies back at range on even terms now. Brie's got the legs back and Peyton knows it, so the younger woman isn't going to force pace and walk into something. Instead, she's willing to get back to the tactical stuff, especially considering she's sitting on the lead. For Brie's part, she's getting good work done and is clearly confident of her abilities on these ter...BOOM! Right hand, LARSON and List is HURT! Peyton wobbling, nearly going down, and Brie LETTING THE HANDS GO, winging way, ROCKING List with a straight right and DROPPING HER WITH A LEFT HOOK. Now it's Brie heading to the neutral corner to watch and wait. List flat on her back, sits up at seven, tries to stand at eight and drops back to her knees! It's OVER! The count passes Peyton by and it's OVER and your winner by KO6 is Brie Larson.

AFTER:

Peyton inconsolable in the Front Street corner. It's happened again. She's come from ahead to lose. Meanwhile, Larson complimentary in the post fight. "She's a good fighter," Brie admits, "And I hope I didn't grease the skids to send her out of Front Street. She was just in too deep tonight...because she was in with the best bantamweight in the FCBA. Could have happened to anyone. And, in fact, it HAS."
