BEFORE

Melanie has the mic “I know you have heard all this before. Every fighter who doesn’t fight much says the same . I want to fight Charlize. I have nothing to loose and everything to gain. I managed to get a call to her late last year. I told her who I was and that I wanted a fight with her. I could tell, she didn’t know who I was. She said let me look at your record and I will get back to you. She called back and said “ Sorry, but I won’t fight you. You are fifty two and I don’t fight opponents over fifty”. I retorted “What the matter, you afraid that some obscure old English girl is going to knock you out. I hear want to fight Upton and she doesn’t want the match, so when I leave you out on the canvas she can call the fight off. There was a long silence on the phone and then she said in a hard voice. April 28th next year and on the beach, Take it or leave it. So here I am. I have never fought on the beach, but I understand she has the record for wins there. Now nobody thinks I can possibly win. I hear there is no line in the betting houses is Las Vegas, but at least I can say I fought her”

Back in her trailer, she has watched Sykes on the arena’s TV. She says “lets go” and Neve throws her black robe over her shoulders. Kate the Great tells Charlize “You’re not going to get out of our fight. so their is no use in taking a dive.” Charlize “I don’t take dives. You know that.

Charlize enters the ring and doffs her robe. She in the usual red bikini, boots and gloves. Melanie is in a purple bikini with black boot and gloves They meet in the center of the ring for instructions and a stare down. but Charlize breaks it off. She been in the ring too many times to be intimidated. They touch gloves and return to the corner.

Round 1 Both are out of their corner quickly They meet in the center of the ring with Charlize scoring first with those three right jabs to the face. Sykes is driven back a couple of steps, but she stops Charlize with a left uppercut. The two then are at close quarters and go toe to toe with left and right crosses to the head. It’s a short exchange and they break it off. but Charlize clearly had the better of it. Charlize is stalking Melanie. Melanie is moving to avoid Charlize when she suddenly surges forward with a left-right to the head. A round house right from Charlize sails harmlessly over Melanies head and she lands a a right to Theron’ bra bring a winch of pain from the great blonde. Chalize moves quickly to get in close punching room and the two are back toe to toe. Once again Charlize is getting the best of it, so Melanie moves away. Charlize is on the hunt. Charlize lands a right to Sykes’ jaw. Melanie retaliates with another left-right to the blondes bra and then drives a solid right into her solar plexus Charlize is hurt but throws a right to Sykes’ head. Melanie is now in close and starts a barrage of punches into Theron’s midsection. Theron manages a right to the face that stops Melanie punches, but not for long as she catches Charlize with another uppercut driving the blonde back to the ropes. Melanie once again unleashes a flurry of punches and they land in the blonde’s midsection, bra and head. Theron has her gloves up trying to defend herself wards off a lot for the punches when a hard right lands on her right ear. Charlize sags in the ropes, but keeps her gloves up defending her head. Melanie has Charlize set up for the big final punch, but can’t land it and the bell rings. Sykes corner is in highs spirits. Their girl took it to the Goat, hurt her and won the round. It’s different in the “Great Ones’ corner. As the Nasdaq corner does it’s job, Kate the Great is beside herself. She rages at beat up blonde. “You did a good job surviving the round. She made you look like an amateur. You should be ashamed of yourself. You want to see a picture of yourself. I can get a mirror. Now you get out there and stop embarrassing us. You been in 455 fights. If you don’t know how to do it, you’re dumber than I thought” Theron’s eyes show fury as she gets off her stool, ready for the next round

Round 2. At the bell both move to the center of the ring. Melanie notices that Charlize absorbed the punishment she dealt her and doesn’t seem the worse for it. She’s going to get in close with the blonde, go to work on her midsection to bring her gloves down then go for the right ear again to destabilize her and then land a big right to the chin and she will pull the biggest upset in the FCBA’s history. She moves in and eats a couple right jabs. Melanie is in close and goes to the blonde’s midsection. Charlizes hands are dropping to her waist. Just what Melanie wanted. Well not exactly. Theron’s right drops to her hip and her body twists and that right comes up and onto Melanie’s chin. The crowd roars to it’s feet. They know they have seen a knockout. Melanie crashes to the canvas on her back. Theron doesn’t bother to look. She knows the fight is over Upton greets Charlize before she gets to the corner and gives her a big hug. “I knew you were going to get serious. That was a great punch”

AFTER: Charlize and Kate were at one table with Melanie at a table next to Charlize’s table.

Charlize: “I want to thank Melanie for taking this fight. I have to admit I underestimated her. She’s far better than I expected. She taught me a lesson in that first round. Had it lasted a little longer it would have been me counted out.

I had to end the fight in the second. I couldn’t stand having to listen to Kate between one more round. Once again. I want to thank Melanie for coming although I didn’t appreciate that first round.

Melanie: It’s me who should be appreciating Charlize for taking the fight. She turned me down at first, but I had to threaten her with embarrassment to change her mind. At the end of the first, I thought I had her. I was going to shock the boxing world. Unfortunately. I forgot her reputation for being able to take an incredible amount of punishment and that big right hand, I have never been hit that hard. Anyone who thinks she has lost some power needs to get into the ring with her. They will change their minds. Again I want to thank Charlize for the fight and a nice payday.

At the Theron table Kate whispers into Charlize’s ear. “She has no idea how much power you’ve lost”
