ALEXA DEMIE VS HAYDEN PANETTIERE

Alexa Demie: 32 YO, 5’1 (1.55 m), FCBA Debut, Bombshells Boxing Club

Hayden: 33 YO, 5’1 (1.55 m),77-48-1,60 KO since 2006.Foxfire Boxin

After: Thr prefight press event is off to a tense start as Hayden Panettiere informs the debuting Alexa Demie: “I hope I’m not too much of a ‘has-been’ for your glorious debut fight.”

Alexa doesn’t blink: “I didn’t say you were a ‘has been’, well, maybe not exactly. But you have seen your best days. All anyone has to do is look at your numbers. Sure over all record is good, but last couple years—not so good. It’s no wonder anyone remembers “Hayden Panties’ anymore.”

Hayden gave her a look of disgust: “Kid that “Hayden Panties’ stuff was old hat a long time and you aren’t making it any fresher.”

Alexa shrugs: “My point is that I am on the rise and you are—sinking.”

“Your concern for my career is touching,” Hayden said sarcastically. “And I wouldn’t be so sure you won’t be the one doing the sinking when this fight is over.”

“That’s not how I see is coming down,” Alexa said with assurance.

“Lots of rookies think that and then reality smacks them in the mouth. I plan to be doing plenty to your mouth,” Hayden informed her.

“You talk tough, but I am will find out if you are still all that tough,” Alexa retorted.

“Tough enough to beat you,” Hayden snapped.

“Ha!” Alexa blurts out.

“And I mean that,” Hayden promised.a

“And I mean to beat you!” Alexa fired back.

On that challenging note, the presser came to an end as the two fighters departed the stage. They met again in the ring on Alexa slides out of her roe to reveal a violet bikini with black gloves and boots (violet laces). Her black hair is pulled back in a battle braid. Hayden reveals a dark blue bikini trimmed in black with matching boots and gloves (black laces). Bobbed blonde hair loose. Ring instructions go quickly. Quick tap of the gloves. The fighters go to their corners. Both looking tense. Then the bell rings…

R1: SMACK! First punch from Hayden slaps Alexa across the mouth and then the veteran knocks the rookie’s chin back with her left uppercut. Alexa drops back. Raises her gloves high and then starts jabbing at Hayden as she starts forward again. Hayden moving her upper body well, working Alexa to the body with stinging barrage of hooks. Alexa stubborn. Not wanting to give ground, but getting hit over and over keeping her bottled up and defensive to the bell. Hayden wins round wide.

R2: Hayden came at Alexa behind a rapid fire series of jabs that tried to bewilder Alexa by hitting in unexpected directions. Indeed, Alexa looked to be in trouble early as she reeled from the multiple blows to head and body. However, Alexa suddenly broke up the rout by driving home a deep hook to the belly that staggered Hayden. Then Alexa followed up with swift right/lefts to the jaw and chin. Now it was Hayden who looked to be in trouble as she stumbled back. Alexa surged forward but as she was pulling back her right hand for a blockbuster punch—Hayden struck first! Hayden caught Alexa at the point of the chin and suddenly Alexa was on shaking legs. Hayden counterattacked the stunned Alexa who did manage to make a stand and fight Hayden to a stand-still. The round had been a close one, but the judges gave it to Hayden Panettiere by a close margin.

R3: Once again Hayden opened aggressively, but now seemed better prepared. As Hayden swung at Alexa’s head, Alexa was driving punishing hooks into Hayden’s body. Hayden was forced to back up, but came back in and this time she was after Alexa to the body. Whacking exchange of belly busting and rib roasting body punches from both fighters, but then Alexa stepped to open side and fired a overhand right that got over Hayden’s mitts to smite her right eye. Hayden shuddered under the blow and fell back in disorder. Then Alexa stepped forward with powerful right/left successive uppercuts to Hayden’s unguarded chin. DOWN WENT HAYDEN! Hayden landed on her butt and fell over on her right side. Alexa looked down in gloating triumph before the referee shooed her off to the neutral corner. The referee started counting and Hayden pushed herself into a crouching position. Then she got to her feet as the official reached “NINE!” The fight soon resumed, but Hayden chose the ride out the remainder of the round by going face in gloves and giving Alexa nothing to work with. Alexa did her best punching away at Hayden’s flanks and shoulders to the bell. The result was a round won wide by Alexa Demie and the rookie smiled happily as she walked to her stool. Hayden, by contrast, was quite subdued in returning to her corner.

R4: Now it was Alexa Demie coming out aggressively at the start of a round. She went straight for Hayden Panettiere’s head with straight shots into her face (Hayden’s already swollen right eye socket was hit again). She struck hard at Hayden’s jaw as well. Hayden was trying to reply with counters of her own, but Alexa was forcing her way in close and attacking the veteran with a fresh round of body hooks. Hayden was doubled up and being punched in the side ribs, shoulders and off the sides of her head/It was another big Alexa Demie which she won wide after the bell. Alexa was smiling very happily now in her corner while Hayden was glum and scowling.

R5: The bell rang and this time, Hayden Panettiere somehow found the energy to come rocketing out of her corner. She caught a clearly surprised Alexa Demie and doubled her up with a big right hook to the belly. Then she smashed an uppercut into her chin and then three successive rights to the jaw. Alexa was stumbling away, trying to reach the middle of the ring. However Hayden cut off the ring and banged away with alternating rights and lefts to the jaw. AND ALEXA CRASHED TO ALL FOURS! Hayden hustled to the neutral corner and watched as Alexa valiantly struggled to rise as the referee counted. She made to her feet to break the count at “EIGHT!” The referee allowed the fight to resume Hayden rushed in and managed to drive the wobbly Alexa into the ropes. Alexa had her gloves up high as she slide along the ropes, as Hayden pounded undefended torso. Then Alexa’s high guard faltered. Hayden was now able to force her gloved fists in to smite Alexa’s head from side to side. THIS WAS NO MUCH: THE REFEREE JUMPED IN! The official guided Alexa to safety as Hayden raised both arms in triumph and with a big satisfied grin on her face.

THE WINNER: HAYDEN PANETTIERE DEFEATS ALEXA DEMIE TKO5!

After: “I think Alexa knows now that I am not a ‘has-been’,” Hayden Panettiere tells the press after the fight. “OK, so she was able to knock me down in the 3rd, but I got up and two rounds later the referee had to stop the massacre. I am sure she’s sadder but wiser now.”

Alexa does speak (the next day): “You notice I left Hayden with that black eye so she can’t say I was all that easy an opponent. I am sad to have lost and I am even be wiser, but mostly what I am is determined to succeed in the FCBA. This was setback but I am no quitter. I will be back and I will win. That will happen, I assure you all!”

Although Hayden Panettiere has indeed struggle the past couple years, she was likely the favorite in this fight. So her winning was not surprise, but it was certainly a needed victory for the Foxfire flyweight. Alexa looked very good at times in her debut. She couldn’t quite pull off a win, but she did show potential and give management hope of better fights to come,
