Brooklyn Decker vs Antje Utgaard
(Lioness Club of America vs The Fighting Academy) (69-29, 57 KO vs 27-13, 27 KO) Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: It's been over six years since Brooklyn Decker was shown the Front Street door and time has come for the Ohio model to face one of the women intended to replace her - Antje Utgaard. The Wisconsin model was still on the Front Street roster back then but never hit the jackpot despite losing only two fights during that tenure (one of them vs Amanda Righetti which is a common theme in FCBA history).
Meanwhile Decker bounced back almost immediately with the Lioness pride and enters the ring for bout #99 on the official record tonight. Nope, there won't be a great Asylum homecoming for the milestone one hundred but Claudia Schiffer leaks the news Brooklyn's next opponent has been booked already so the only problem is not to overlook Utgaard's challenge who might only be 3-for-13 lately but still has that middleweight punch in her given the social media hype videos!
Brooklyn Decker wears a leopard print bikini set & white gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a half-up ponytail. Antje Utgaard wears a red bikini set & blue gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a braid. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.
Round 1: Brooklyn goes up for the head-hunting test and Antje prefers to sit back and wait the series out. It's not like Brooklyn wants to get this one over and done with fast and she realizes the fellow ex-Front Street blonde owns that middleweight quality which can magically appear at any stage of the fight. The single punch dispute drags on for a while until Decker finds a proper one-two combo to unsettle the younger model and takes off with more efficient execution. She outboxes Utgaard in mid-distance and gets even more aggressive late on while the fellow blonde somehow keeps searching for that one-punch KO finish instead. Too early for that against a future Hall of Fame!
Rounds 2 & 3: Antje becomes more aggressive as she maybe realizes she won't finish Brooklyn off with a vintage slam dunk finish. She gets down to punish the body but still catches the older blonde's forearms in the process. She tries to bump Decker off in jug-to-jug contact and manages to unsettle the former champion with one of these efforts yet she misses on the aerial put away and gives Brooklyn time to find her footing again. The stalking drill continues for majority of the round but the single punch striking just doesn't do the trick here. More of the same in the third, Decker back on the lethargic ride if only she wants to catch Utgaard off guard through a counter-punch effort and the Wisconsin model just can't land that one big punch to open the proverbial door. A game of chess in the ring, not an ideal scenario however BLONDE! Magazine believes if we get a knockout here it will be worth a bonus prize!
Round 4: Decker ignites more speed to her tactics and she moves around much faster than her opponent which helps her to land some juicy knocks during the opening minute. She maintains the high-octane performance throughout the round and grinds Antje down with some body shots until she backs her onto the ropes where she rips more harpoons around the elbows. Utgaard has to clinch the Ohio model but remains stuck on the turnbuckle and gets picked off to the body in the final minute again!
Round 5: Antje on the move, goes back to one-punch finish scouting, lands a couple of good ones square on the nose but Brooklyn is not to be scared off by that effort. Back & forth swings, a lot of misses in between but the desire remains high as Utgaard jumps forward and bounces off the top of Decker's forehead before blasting her to the body. She drops the fellow blonde onto the ropes but just can't close her down and slices thin air while the Ohio model regains her rhythm and mounts a late comeback in the final minute. Both women trade more shots from point blank range and threaten to land that haymaker over the limit... Brooklyn thinks she's got it... but she only gives Antje a nasty swelling around the right eye that quickly grows into a problem which halts the Wisconsin blonde's progress and allows Brooklyn to clean her up with a late series between the gloves.
Round 6: Antje's right eye suffers more damage early in the sixth as Brooklyn whacks it with authority and this one weak spot opens the flood gates soon afterwards. Utgaard tries to unload immediate payback realizing her eye could be swollen shut soon enough but shoots over the fellow blonde's head and wobbles forward to meet a brutal cross on the nose that sinks her on jelly knees. Ugh! She tries to prevent gravity from taking over but then Decker flies in with a one-two combo that NAILS the younger blonde on the exposed chin and that is enough to SEND HER CRASHING DOWN on her backside. Ugh! Antje tries to get up almost immediately, realizes she's a long way off making it... goes down on one knee and then makes a late effort at eight only to wobble down on her knee. Uh-oh!!! That is that!!! She can't beat the count and Brooklyn Decker takes it KO6 style!!!
AFTER: Brooklyn vows not to rub it in as Antje has been fired from Front Street herself and technically Charlotte McKinney is the one who replaced the current LCA fighter so a quick hug between former stablemates is due. This was a cagey fight all around, both women knew each other well from the old Asylum days so they would never really outsmart one another. Brooklyn secured the winning series in the end helped by Antje's swollen eye and the failed decision to find that immediate swarming combo. If the Wisconsin blonde landed it, she's could have easily turned Decker's lights out alas it wasn't meant to be.
Meanwhile everything is ready to celebrate Brooklyn's 100th fight at the upcoming June PPV - except the name of her opponent. LCA coach Claudia Schiffer reveals that mystery shouldn't be hard to crack: "It won't be Theron and there are only like two other names that are big enough to stand the test. One is a blonde and other is a readhead. Go and figure!" (winks).
Official Result: Brooklyn Decker def. Antje Utgaard KO6. |
