Maria Ozawa vs Maisie Williams

(Words: Epic)
Results by Lookout

Despite being fresh off fighting a match of her own, Mikie Hara made damn sure that she’d be there to watch Maria Ozawa dismantle Maisie Williams, who had dismantled her a while back. Maisie has no stablemate of her own watching from the ringside, but her presence is overpowering, and the audience’s favorite is her.

R1: I’m going to win this, audience be damned, thinks Maria as she goes into round 1. She puts the early pressure on Williams, forcing her back two steps, but does not get further than that. The two women brawl not too far from the center of the ring, their ire apparent as both opt to slug and throw defense to the win. Round one is mostly even, although its atmosphere is that of a bar fight. Apart from the opening pressure by Ozawa, neither girl stood out, so the round goes to her by a small margin.

R2: Maria fails to catch Maisie’s opening haymaker on her guard, taking it in the nose instead, and it is all Maisie from there as she flounders and her tempo breaks, allowing Williams to take control. Williams focuses on the head, looking to finish early, but Maria does not let her, only conceding the round by a large margin.

R3: This time Maria manages to ward off Maisie’s opener. Going low, she surprises the actress with a punch to the gut. Then she goes high in an overhand, connecting with a loud smack. But that is as far as she gets, Williams rallying in time to block the jab meant to finish her off, countering with a jab to the chin. That breaks Maria’s offensive momentum, and once more the match becomes a brawl, a bloody slugfest that no fighter can last in long.

R4: Round 4 sees the brawl break apart as Maisie sticks an arm forward, catching Maria’s hook, then pushing her arm away, opening her up to be torn apart by her punches. This allows Williams to push Ozawa all the way back to the ropes, where even glancing blows have dramatic effects, knocking heads around and eliciting loud cries of pain. A worm of doubt, unbeckoned and unknown, nestles in Maisie’s heart, but she’s having too much fun taking the other girl apart to care.

R5: Maria looks wounded going into round five, so Maisie lets loose with a blast sure to finish her off. But Ozawa, with surprising agility, dances around the punch and comes back around in a whirlwind, slamming a hook into her surprised opponent and knocking her down. The knockdown is more shock than anything, so Maisie is able to get up at six, but she is still shaken.

At that moment, Maisie knew she screwed up.

The fight continues, but Maria has the tempo, letting her push Maisie to the ropes and finish her shell-shocked opponent in a TKO as the ref steps in to spare the GOT actress further punishment.

Winner: Maria Ozawa via TKO5!
