Laura Pausini (Latin Union) versus Alesha Dixon (Beevers Babes)

Now a pair of, what shall we say, mature celebrity boxers, face each other now, and whilst neither of them has been successful in FCBA, there’s been enough interest to stop most fightfans leaving the auditorium for the bar

Both ladies are in the ring, Laura wearing a blue onepiece outfit, Alesha typically hot in yellow lingerie

Round 1

The bell rings, and immediately it’s Laura on the offensive, taking Alesha by surprise maybe as she gets clubbed to her lovely face with left and right handed punches, the Brit being put firmly in her place as the older woman sends her backwards into her own corner, where she gives her body a good thumping, Alesha defending as best she can, keeping her elbows tucked in, wary that Laura might just whip an uppercut up between her gloves, but it’s too soon for that, and Laura tires as the clock ticks into the final 30 seconds, Alesha able to punch her way out of trouble, and she peppers Laura’s face with left and right handed punches through to the bell

Round 2

Encouraged by her comeback in the opening round, Alesha is immediately the aggressor in round 2, and she’s hurt Laura with a right hook to the jaw which sends the Italian stumbling backwards to the ropes, then lands a good left on her cheek whilst she’s got her there, Alesha looking for a superquick win now, with Laura looking devoid of ideas as to how to get off the ropes, Alesha banging punches into her left and right flanks in turn – but she gets careless, overstretches herself when she looks for a right hook to Laura’s face, and the Italian hits her with a series of punches, left jabs and a couple of right crosses, making Alesha back off, with both women feeling pressure now, both beginning to bruise around their eyes as the bell ends the second round of an entertaining fight

Round 3

Alesha attacks Laura quickly, but the older woman easily intercepts her, and she’s quickly reversed matters as she gives Alesha a series of solid punches to her face, the Brit wilting a little, Laura encouraged, and she rips a couple of really hefty left hooks into Alesha’s body, and those shots have hurt her, the younger woman dropping her arms as she yelps, and in comes a left hook to her jaw, which is too much for Alesha, her knees buckling as she collapses to the canvas, and this might be over? No! Alesha is up again at 8, albeit looking groggy, her jaw a little swollen, but she’s able to stand and trade punches briefly before she has to clinch and run down the clock to the end of the round

Round 4

Laura needs to get on top of Alesha early in this round, and she’s doing what she can, but the Brit resists nicely, covers up so that the older woman just can’t land a decent punch, then hits the Italian pretty damned firmly on the counter, Laura’s head bobbing back and forth, her face showing shock and terrible disappointment, having looked to be so close to her first FCBA win in her 36th fight! She’ll have to go back to basics though, because Alesha isn’t looking like she wants to be a victim tonight, and she’s working Laura around the ring as the older girl tires, Alesha looking like she’s increasing her pace as she keeps the Italian trapped in a neutral corner for the remaining seconds, hitting her to her body and face, Laura looking very shaky as she slides along the ropes to her corner, blood seeping from a cut over her left eye

Round 5

This fight is likely to be won by the woman who simply won’t quit, and tonight that might just be Alesha Dixon, who imposes herself on Laura immediately, and looks like she isn’t going to let the older woman get as much as a metre clear of her stool, the Italian’s left eye now streaming blood as Alesha targets it with her right hook, now she moves her attack ‘downstairs’ and punishes Laura with some sickening body punches, before looking for the finish, Laura pretty much leaning against the ropes when Alesha cuffs her across her face with a left hook to put her down. Laura looks like she’s trying to get up, but her legs have just gone, and she rolls over at 7, and is counted out

Result: Alesha Dixon knocked out Laura Pausini in round 5

Laura will feel so aggrieved not to have won her first fight for almost 10 years – but sadly for her, she fell just short again!
