VALERIE LOUREDA vs MARGOT ROBBIE
Results Lookout, Words Sceej
For a fight with no belt, this one is generating a TON of fan interest. Hawked as “Lola Vice v Harley Quinn ”, its captured imaginations,
Robbie puzzled and perturbed at pre- fight press conference, “I mean, I get everyone has to start somewhere but she picks me for her debut fight? What is that supposed to mean? I mean, I’m ranked in the top 20. Does she think she just walks in off the street and beats me?
Carnation’s cheeky new sensation giving the press all it wants, “Hey, she’s got the number one movie in the world and I’m looking to make a splash, so I figured I’d knock out ‘Barbie’ and get people’s attention right away! And anyone who wants to make the mistake of thinking this is a ‘debut’ fight for me better check my MMA record! Sorry Barbie - Lola Vice is crashing your little party!”
Fight Night: Loureda in the ring sporting split color sports bra and trunks in blue and pink (is she stealing the “Harley Quinn” look) and black gloves and boots. Carnation CEO Stephanie McMahon working the corner. Margot Robbie - well what else(?) - pink sports bra, trunks, boots and gloves, veteran Scrubby McGee is her trainer.
Round 1: Valerie is giving away height, weight and experience BUT don;t tell her that! Robbie a notoriously slow starter and Lola Vice looking to run her out of the ring before she realizes the fight has started! Brunette low on style but high on energy - just pumping hooks with both hands, lefts and rights, buffeting body and shoulders - Robbie in earmuff so no clean shots to the head but there are some solid impacts! Australian looks to clinch but having difficulty controlling violent little fireball, who works hands free to keep punching. Big first round for the novice!
Rounds 2-3: Margot Robbie administer a complimentary boxing lesson to the rookie. When Lola looks to blitz, slick heel turns out of danger and ALWAYS with a cuffing right to the ear of the brunette. Margot behind jab, center ring, pumping and dealing, occasionally dropping follow up right that stuns Carnation fighter. Could be argued that Loureda does not win even a single minute of the second and third rounds. Not taking serious punishment but seriously frustrated!
Round 4: Valerie getting some on the fly coaching in Carnation corner, McMahon telling her “Your front foot OUTSIDE her front foot! Cut the ring … don’t let her circle left!” and Loureda does a halting but credible job, able to frustrate some of Australian’s movement and force exchanges where she can let hands go to the body/ Not dominating BUT she’s no longer being dominated = improvement. It’s still Robbie’s round through first two minutes behind that crisp jab and educated footwork. Then in a wild trade, Lola lands left hook flush to the jaw that puts a shimmy in blonde’s knees - Margot is hurt! Brunette puts hands on her and bulls her to ropes, sets up shop and hammers flanks with both hands. Robbie grunting, looking to spin out but opponent corralling her back to ropes. Margot responding with little cuffing shots to Loureda’s head but not enough power to get little pitbull off of her. Near end of round, Blonde begins to sage noticeably under body attack and Vic near lefts her out of her shoes with sneaky uppercut inside. At bell, Lola Vice chesting up and giving damaged Robbie an earful until referee backs her off.
Round 5: Tactical round with Margot Robbie up on toes, seems skittish of opening up, Loureda frustrated by movement and starting to reach with lead right hands. Even round.
Round 6: McMahon gives Loureda tongue lashing in the corner, “Don’t just watch her dance! Pressure pressure pressure …” Lola Vice out of the corner with a snarl on her lips … and walks straight into a surprise straight right hand that has her walking in fence posts! McMahon from corner “CLINCH!!!” but youngster not registering. Left right left combo - left jab, straight right, left hook - drops Carnation fighter on her back. Brunette woozily trying to get limbs organized and back to her feet but count passes her … winner by knockout in the sixth - Margot Robbie!
Post fight: Robbie to corner to console/congratulate movie fighter on a spirited debut. “She’s tough”, Robbie admits, “and a lot stronger than her size would indicate. She sticks to flyweight she’s gonna make a ruckus.”
