Natalie Alyn Lind versus Nina Dobrev

BEFORE:

Pair of top-level bantams get it on in this one. Neens, a former champion, has won ten of her last thirteen, while Lind appears to have taken that final step to top contender since the trade to HISC, having won four straight against top competition. And, both blonde and brunette believe they'll come out on top tonight. "It's cute that Natalie's getting a push at HISC," says Nina with a smirk. "But, she's what she's always been, good, but nothing special. I'M the special one, and I'll prove that tonight."

"Oh, I know all ABOUT the Bulgarian Bully," says a hard-eyed Natalie. "And, she's not bullying ANYONE tonight."

ROUND ONE:

Bulgarian not trying to bully. At least, not completely. Styles are different here. Nat works well as a pressure fighter, getting inside, working body, using her power. Neens has plenty of power, too, but she likes to work at range, use her length, extend on punches. And, in the first, that's exactly what the brunette does. Lind has moments when she gets to spots and gets off, and she's effective when that happens, but she's spending MUCH too much time out on the end of Dobrev's jab, out where the older woman can drop right hands on her. Result is a VERY good opening round for Nina, who not only takes it, but takes it wide to grab the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Lind true to her word, not getting bullied. She's working forward now, angling, keeping the gloves high, getting inside, banging body. Dobrev tying up, forcing breaks, but she can't keep Nat The Brat at bay in this stanza. Instead, it's the blonde who's getting what she wants, taking the fight to the brunette, backing her up, landing solid shot to the head. Dobrev able to get some breathing room at times, and she's getting work done when she can, but, for most of the round, it's Lind who's in control, piling up points and punishment right to the bell. When it rings, there's no question about the winner. It's Natalie and it's wide and we're even at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Lind right back at it, pressuring, backing Nina up, GETTING ROCKED BY A RIGHT HAND! Out of NOWHERE, the Bulgarian lands a NASTY counter that has Natalie wobbling, and Neens goes FULL BULGARIAN BULLY! She's battering her rival backward, hammering away with both hands, pinning Natalie to the ropes and then GOING TO WORK. It's head, body, head stuff from Dobrev, who works a little JUG for good measure. Lind taking and taking, jabbing back here and there to keep the ref at bay, but he's looking in closely as Dobrev PUNISHES the blonde right to the bell. When it rings, Natalie's still on her feet, but Nina's got it wide and leads 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Dobrev pushing, looking to finish this th...BOOM! Right-hand counter, NATALIE and NINA IS HURT! Dobrev all WOBBLY BUTT and Lind ALL IN! Natalie winging away at the buzzed Bulgarian, driving her back to the ropes and GOING TO WORK ON THAT BODY. Lind DIGGING ribs and tummy and PAYING NEENS BACK TO THE JUG! Dobrev shipping the shell, hanging on in a tight guard, tying up when she can. Blonde PUNISHING the brunette, buying all that on-sale body in bulk...all while allowing Dobrev to run clock. Final seconds see Nina tie up, spin off the ropes, get to work with the jab. Legs have come around and she's clear eyed again. It's too little, too late for the round, which Natalie takes wide to even things at 38, but an opportunity has clearly been lost for the blonde.

ROUND FIVE:

Neens working at range, using the jab, moving the feet. She's determined to establish control here. Nat not cooperating. She's working forward, looking to ba...BOOM! Right hook NINA and DOWN GOES THE BRAT! Natalie dropped to her knees by a perfectly-placed hook! Dobrev to a neutral corner, but Lind is up at five, shaking her head, looking more ticked off than hurt. Ref gives her the mandatory and waves on Nina. Dobrev walking forward behind the jab. She's backing up the blonde, who's a little wobbly, but clearly not ready to go. Veteran brunette knows it and doesn't get too aggressive. Instead, she simply controls the rest of the round, scoring well with both hands to the bell. It's 10-8 to the Bulgarian, who pulls into a 48-46 lead at the half.

ROUND SIX:

Dobrev at range, using her length and boxing skills. She's getting that jab on target, dropping in rights off it. Natalie moving well, has shaken the damage. She's angling forward, slipping inside, working some body until Neens is able to disengage and get back to range. It's good, back-and-forth stuff between two very good bantams, and there's not much in it. Try as they might, neither fighter can gain control of the proceedings. Final minute sees several sharp exchanges as both blonde and brunette try to grab the points, but, when the bell rings, it's very, very close...and it's Neens, who extends her lead to 58-55 with four rounds to go.

ROUND SEVEN:

Same again. Dobrev at range, Lind looking to work forward, get in close, bang. And, again, both fighters are having some success getting the terms they want...and scoring well when they can do so. Again, it's even stuff, with no one able to gain any real adv...BOOM! Right hook, NATALIE and Nina is HURT! Dobrev stumbles backward, covers up. Lind letting the hands go. RIGHT HOOK! DOWN GOES DOBREV! Bulgarian dropped to her right side. Natalie to a neutral corner to watch and wait. Nina pushes to hands and knees at eight...but that's as far as she gets! Dobrev still on all fours as the count passes her by and it's OVER! And your winner by KO7 is Natalie Alyn Lind!

AFTER:

Lind definitely has the look of someone who's been in a fight, but she's got a lovely smile for the camera. "I knew she'd try that," Natalie says. "I knew she'd try to get physical, to bully me in there, but it wasn't going to happen. I'M the one with the power SHE can't handle, and that's why she ended up crawling around the canvas like a baby! The Bulgarian Baby! It has a ring to it..."
