(Princess of the Beach Title Bout)

Camila: 29 YO, 5’2 (1.57 m), 30-18-0, 30 KO since 2017, Odd & End Fight Studio

Brec: 24 YO, 5’2 (1.57 m.). 17-10-0, 17 KO since 2017, Pretty Little Punchers

Before: This beach boxing title bout is being piped in live to other PPV beaches from an exclusive Caribbean resort (part of the Deluxe Package is VIP seating for the event). Current Princess of the Beach Camila Mendes is making her second title defense against Brec Bassinger, a former FCBA Flyweight Champion. They speak briefly with the press before heading to the ring. Brec is in a white bikini top with bright blue bikini bottoms and matching blue gloves with white laces, Blonde hair pulled by in a messy ponytail.

Brec speaks first: “I will admit this I my first time on the sand instead of canvas, but that is what makes it especially exciting for me. I have been training hard for this fight. This will be my second fight against Camila. I lost to in a KO6 back in 2021. So this is chance for me to even things up AND get a new title. I liked being Flyweight Champion and there quite like have a title on your record.”

Camila speaks next. The Defending Princess is in a high waisted black bikini with white glove (black laces). Her dark hair is in a bun.

“This will be my second defense and I thought it would be a good way to introduce Brec to the world on beach boxing. I am not surprised she is eager to fight me again. I can recall wanting to even things up with Millie Bobby Brown after she beat me and I did, too. Still. I handled Brec in 6 only 2 years ago. I need to see if she can do any better this time.”

“Oh, I will, don’t you worry about that” Brec interjects.

Camila looks annoyed: “Down girl. I am speaking and I assure you I am not at all worried about beating you.”

“You will,” Brec adds.

Camila gives Brec a scowl and says: “Let’s get this fight going.”

The ring is your basic four posts hammered into the sand with three lines of ropes The crowd is in comfortable shaded chairs . Camila and Brec climb in and have the preliminary chat with the referee. That done they touch gloves and then go to their corners. The time keeper (seated at a table with the judges) rings the bell. DING!

R1: Camila crowding in on Brec using her hooks to bound Brec’ belly and rib cage. Brec looks uncertain at first as she tries to move on the sand. Camila looks to be using the body busters to drive Brec it the ropes, Brec able to rally after she stuns Cami with a hard smash to the chin. Camila rocked for a few moments and now Brec can go after Camila to the body. Camila regains her senses and starts trying to drive Brec back in a bitter body punching battle up close and personal. Camila hammering break hard in the late round, but Brec giving it right back to her. They battle down to the bell. Judges rule the close round went to Camila.

R2: Brec B is fast from her corner at the and manages to stun Camila with an opening one-two to the chin. This causes Camila to fall back in disorder, Brec is moving well on the sand now, bobbing and weaving she keeps pumping out body/head shots. Camila under pressure, she has her mitts up high and they are protecting her head, but body is wide open and Brec’s hooks are feasting on Cami’s ribs and abs. Camila finally just scoots away which allows her to set up a jab screen to hold Brec off in the final minute. Und goes wide to Brec Bassinger,

R3: Camila trying regain control with early head shots aimed at Brec’s noggin. Brec moving her upper body well defensively and Cami not able to land her punches with power. Then Brec strikes back with a fast series of hooks deep into Camila’s belly. Cami doubled up and now finds her being hammered to her hooters with rising punches from Brec. Camila begins jabbing hard to get Brec to back off but the young blonde is relentless. Camila being driven around the ring, it’s all she can do to keep from being trapped on the ropes, Round ends in another big win for the Challenger.

R4: Camila watching Brec closely as the new round begins. Brec moving at the Champion with that bob and weave. However, this time it appears, Camila’s got Brec much better timed. As the Challenger grows near, but before she can attack—Camila attacks first. Brec banged up hard to the face and jaw. Then her head gets knocked back by repeated quick uppercuts Brec reeling back on shaking legs as Camila continues her attack. Brec covering her head but she is the one getting worked over to the body. Brec getting stung hard to the ribs and belly, being forced to hunch up and then worked to the flank ribs. Brec getting some counters going late, but mostly she getting worked over by Camila. Rounds ends. Camila looks pleased to see Brec looking rubbery legged as she make her way to her corner. Camila Mndes has won round wide.

R5: Brec cleaned up by the PLP corner crew and she is surprisingly quick off her stool at the bell. Camila moving at her, clearly eager to pick up where she left off, but gets an unpleasant surprise when Brec diverts her with the left and brings the right smashing into Camila’s mouth. Camila then gets a right/left combination to her jaw and chin and then three fast looks into the breadbasket. Camila drops back quickly to regroup. Brec hastens forward in pursuit. The two get into an intense exchange mostly to the jaw and chin. Repeated blows leave both fighters looking woozy as the impacts build up cobwebs in their brains. Brec going to Camila’s rib cage again and again until she’s got Cami backing away. It’s a slow retreat, but enough to allow Brec to edge out Camila to win a close round.

R6: Camila out aggressively early on, but runs into Brec buzzsaw head shots. Brec duking and dodging Camila’s counters, really making Camila’s head spin from side to side and then bob like bobble head toy. Camila seems unwilling to back up even as the battering continues. Then Brec drops down, lowering her right to her ankles and then shoots up. Camila caught looking as this booming right uppercut snaps her head back AND DOWN SHE CRASHES TO THE SAND! Brec stares down in delight and then skips off to the neutral corner. She watches the referee counts, but Camila is able to rise up on her elbows, then pull herself together to just beat the count at “NINE!” Brec is waved back in but the close call as turned Camila ultra-cautious for the remainder of the round. Cami buries her face in her gloves and lets Brec pound away at her shoulders and sides to the bell. Brec books the first knockdown of the fight and gets a wide win on the judges’ cards.

R7: Brec now on the attack as she clearly is out to finish the bout, but Camila’s had tie to recover. Action starts at mid-ring as soon as the two get close and Brec launches her opening attack, but Camila crouching down fights back to Brec’s body. Brec takes the challenge and the two are quickly toe to toe and firing in the leather as their elbows move in and out like high speed piston rods. Ringsiders can hear the sound of leather against sweaty flesh quite clearly as the two battle it out over a relatively small square of sand. Stays even much of the way, but Camila able to set her feet in the sand to leverage her legs for more punching power. Brec getting pushed back and gasps for air as the belly busters keep coming. Brec still punching back, but Camila is pulling ahead for a close win at the bell.

R8: Brec and Camila out for the new round and Brec is moving more slowly now. Looks like the previous round drained her batteries. Camila moves at once to take advantage. She feints a renewed attack to the body, but then a big right hand cracks off Brec’s jaw and sends the blonde spinning to one side. Camila swoops after the stunned Brec firing in punch after punch to turn her face into a bloody mess. Brec finally able to get her gloves up to protect her battered face, but now Camila is hammering her to the belly. Brec is driven into the rope where she huddles, able only to protect her head as her body writhes under the storm of Camila Mendes’ leather. Camila pounding in the body busters, trying to get Brec’s legs to give way, but she can’t quite manage it. Bell rings and Brec is holding the top rope to keep erect. Her face is a wreck, but she pulls herself off the strands and shuffles across the sand to collapse on her stool. Camila watches her go with a little smile of satisfaction. She’s won the round in a shutout and given young Brec a fearful beating.

R9: PLP corner crew works desperately to clean up Brec. They wipe the blood off but she’s still got a badly bruised and swollen face. Trainer is looking at her anxiously and seems to advise Brec to throw in the towel. Brec suddenly comes alive and angrily cries: “NEVER!” The spirited response seems to be what the trainer was hoping for and Brec comes out at the bell.

Camila watches as Brec makes a determined effort to get back in this fight. She heads straight for Cami and lunges forward aiming for the Champion’ jaw. Unfortunately, Camila can see th blockbuster coming, she turns to block it with her shoulder and then swings back to strike Brec between the eyes with her right. Brec stumbles back and now Camila advances with a slow, methodical beat down of her challenger. Camila works Brec over to the body until she’s forced to lower her guard and then straight rights and lefts smash into Brec’s face. One big right hand scores a direct hit on Brec’s left eye socket causing it to swell up rapidly. Brec pushed back into the ropes and now Camila goes after Brec’s chin. Uppercut lifts Brec onto her tiptoes and she seems about to flip over the top rope. However Camila then steps back and DOWN COMES BREC BASSINGER! Brec topples onto her face and lies there groaning. She lifts her head up and seems to see Camila smirking down at her. She closes her eyes and turns her head away. Referee orders Camila to the neutral corner. Camila trots over and she waits confidently as the official starts counting. Brec does stir and somehow makes it to her knees, but that is it.

“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!...YOU’RE OUT!”

The loudspeaker comes on: “THE WINNER AND STILL OUR REIGNING PRINCESS OF THE BEACH: CAMILA MENDES! SHE DEFEATS BREC BASSINGER BY KNOCKOUT IN THE 9TH ROUND.

After: Camila can’t help but do some gloating I the aftermath: Sure she had me down the 6th, but I showed her. I gave her what must be one of the worst beatings of her career. Let that be a lesson her when dealing with the likes of me!”

Brec cleaned up and checked over. She is still battered mess, but she doesn’t resist when Camila finally gets her chance to Walk her. They go around the ring. Camila wanting to make sure everyone a good look at the damage she did to the young blonde. Brec quiet, but gamely plods along.

It’s the next day when she briefly comments: “I admit she worked me over worse than anyone I can remember. I guess she showed me, but I am more determined than ever to show her—some day.”

Rousing beach battle gave those VIP fans at ringside and those watching in the other beach venues their money’s worth. Brec looked like she about to pull off a big upset in the 6th, but once again a knockdown isn’t the same as a knockout. Camila got off the sand and three rounds later she had wrecked Brec crumpled on the sand being counted. A rough introduction to beach boxing for Brec Bassinger, but she quickly learn the technique of fighting on sand, but Camila Mendes proved too much for her. Very good win for Camila who showed she can come back from adversity to win over a very game challenger. Fans wonder who Camila will be fighting in her next title defense.
