Priyanka Chopra versus Margot Robbie (Bantamweight Title)

BEFORE:

Blonde/brunette battle for the bantamweight gold sees Margot, who's won her last two, getting a second shot at the gold in the last two years against a streaking Big Choppy, who's won sixteen of her last 19 and claimed both the Ice Hotel and the bantamweight gold during that run. But, if Robbie's coming in as the underdog, the Aussie is, as usual, plenty confident. "She's probably the measuring stick at bantam right now. I mean, she's beaten just about everyone. So, when I take her title, there will be no doubts, will there?"

"I really wanted Gomez," says Priyanka, "But, Margot will do. She'll look just as good lying at my feet. Maybe better."

ROUND ONE:

Hot start for Margot. Aussie wants range, wants to box, while, of course, the brunette wants to bring her power to bear. Champ's trying to work forward behind the jab, but Margot a little too slick for her in the opening stanza. Robbie's staying off square, getting punches put together, getting the Indian beauty ALL out of sorts and keeping her there. Priyanka has moments, lands a couple of solid right hands, but, from bell to bell, it's Margot who's getting what she wants, piling up points, powdering the champion's face again and again. At the bell, the blonde has left no doubt about it. She's taken the points wide and grabbed the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Priyanka finding ways forward now. She's getting to middle distances, at other times, getting inside, banging away with hard shot. But. Only at times. At others, it's the blonde having what she wants, enforcing distance with that left hand, quick and accurate, in Big Choppy's face. When the Aussie's able to do that, she's getting by far the better of things. Result is a back and forth round that sees both champion and challenger have their respective moments and no one able to gain any sort of advantage let alone control. When the bell finally rings, it's one of those rare rounds with absolutely nothing in it. A draw. Which leaves Margot up a point, 20-19.

ROUND THREE:

More of the same as the fight turns into a battle for terms. Robbie slick and quick, moving beautifully, SNAPPING out that jab, getting it in Chopra's face again and again. Big Choppy resolute, working past, stepping inside the left, getting off at middle distances with hard shot. Indian beauty's plenty athletic, too, and she shows it with movement of feet, head, hands. She even manages to back up the Aussie a couple of times. But, Robbie's quickly back on the front foot. For the second round in a row, there's not much in it, but this time, the champion's done just enough to claim the points narrowly and even things at 29 apiece.

ROUND FOUR:

Back and forth again. Fight turning into what a title fight should be, a close contest between top-level fighters. If anyone thinks Margot doesn't quite belong at this level, well. She's proving those folks wrong as she's going punch for punch with the champion. For her part, Big Choppy remains patient, showing plenty of respect for the blonde, playing good defense, all while looking to bring that power to bear. Again, she manages to back Robbie up a couple of times, but she can't consistently square her up or keep her on the back foot. It's good stuff from both fighters, with, again, no one able to gain much of an advantage, but, for the second round in a row, the champ takes the points close and pulls into the 38-37 lead.

ROUND FIVE:

BOOM! Boom? BOOM! Right off the bell a NASTY right hand from Margot and BIG CHOPPY IS HURT! Champ GOBSMACKED by a perfectly timed cross from Robbie and the challenger is ALL IN! She's winging away with both hands, driving all before her, trapping the champion on the ropes and MAKING WITH THE HEAVY LEATHER. Brunette in ALL kinds of trouble, desperately hanging on as the ref looks in closely. She's taking fire from, seemingly, everywhere and looking ready to go. Margot's throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the champion, but, somehow those sturdy legs hold her up and she does juuuusssttttt enough to keep the ref at bay to the bell. When it rings, however, Robbie's pitched a shutout and evened things at 47 at the half.

ROUND SIX:

Margot in control from the start. Champion's legs still plenty iffy and the challenger is taking full advantage, backing her rival up again and again, squaring her up with that jab and following on with HARD right hands. Brunette game, trading space for time, taking a licking but continuing to do the ticking. She manages to stay off the ropes and even counter here and there, but it's the blonde who's getting work done, opening a cut above the eye and continuing to pound away, looking to finish. Robbie can't do that, but she does effect a fairly complete cleanup. At the bell, there's zero doubt about the points. It's Margot wide and the challenger pulls into a 57-56 lead with four to go.

ROUND SEVEN:

Robbie in control. Chopra moving better, seems to have shaken the worst of the damage, but the Aussie still has her in rever...BOOM! Right hand, BIG CHOPPY and MARGOT IS HURT! That quickly the champ turns the tide and the blonde challenger is in TROUBLE. Brunette immediately over to the offensive, forcing the blonde back, back, back with hard flurries, finally trapping her on the cables and GOING BODY IN A BIG WAY! Priyanka DIGGING to ribs and tummy as the blonde puts the body on sale cheap, then working back upstairs, landing a SOLID right that wobbles the challenger right at the bell. Margot survives, but Big Choppy takes the points wide and evens us again, this time at 66.

ROUND EIGHT:

Chopra looking to finish this thing. She's pressing forward, driving the blonde back with hard flurry after hard flurry. Margot still plenty buzzed, trying to do what Priyanka did in the sixth, trade space for time, run clock, get those legs back under her...BOOM! Right hand, BIG CHOPPY and Margot's RUMBLIN' STUMBLIN' FUMBLIN' around the ring and GOING DOWN after a BLISTERING right hook! Blonde crashing to her right side, bouncing once before coming to rest. Champion raising her arms in victory, then heading to a neutral corner. Count is a formality. Margot's down and out and it's OVER! And your winner by KO8 and STILL Unified Bantamweight Champion is Priyanka Chopra!

AFTER:

Priyanka's clearly been in a fight. Blood's still trickling from that cut above the eye and she's plenty puffy, but she's also flashing that gorgeous smile in the post fight. "She gave me fight," the Indian beauty admits, "And, I knew she would. She's plenty good. But. She's not the BEST bantamweight in the world. That's me. And, I've got the belts to PROVE it."
