Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse

BEFORE:
“Let’s be honest, Isabela is a pretty terrible boxer,” Roberts grins haughtily from her seat at the press table, folding her arms across her chest as she leans back. “She ended 2022 with a 1-4 record and she's already 1-3 this year. The fact that this hack beat me in January is a stain on my record. It was literally her only win this year. I'm here to fix that tonight. I'm going to absolutely WRECK Isabela in there. And when I'm done with her, I'm going after another joke of a fighter - Victoria Justice."

Emma Roberts as venomous as ever in her opening statement, but the Global Boxing Syndicate fighter of course has other plans for today’s fight, and while it’s true that she’s lost most her fights in the last 2 years, the one shining beacon of hope in all that depression has been her impressive upset victory over Roberts in January via TKO. As such, the Peruvian fighter is positively beaming from across the room, having dismissed the Doll’s tough talk at the start of the year, and now fully confident to do so again.

“Emma is ALL bark NO bite. She spewed the same threats back in January, and how did that work out for her? And if I’m a ‘joke of a fighter’, what does that make her? I don’t pay attention to all that noise. I know how to beat her and I’ll do it again, SHE is the underdog today. ”

Ladies square up at the stage area and just like before, Roberts’ two-inch advantage is projected to give her a slight edge in the betting odds tonight. It didn’t work out too well for the Doll last time, however, with Merced’s power put on display given her stockier frame. But Roberts is in fact on a three-fight winning streak, and having put away other dangerous foes such as Mia Khalifa might just signal for fortuitous tidings by the end of the night.

Hours later, we’re back in the arena proper, and despite cross words crossed earlier during the press conference, both fighters have stayed silent and brooding so far during their respective entrances. Even here in the ring, they’re regarding each other with harsh glares, trying for the most part to get their final preparations in place. Emma Roberts is in a lovely pink & white bikini, white gloves, her blonde hair in a tight ponytail, getting last minute from Carmen Electra in her corner. In the other corner of the sand ring, Merced is sporting a blue and black bikini, her brunette hair in a bun as she shadowboxes for the fans in her black boxing gloves.

The referee signals for the start of this next Flyweight contest, and with the sound of the bell, HERE WE GO with ten rounds!

ROUND 1:
Emma being aggressive out of the gate, no f*cking around for the Ice Queen with the stakes this high in her rematch. Lose once to Merced and you could call it bad luck. Lose twice in a row and she’d never be able to live her peers down. And with one of her fellow Dolls on the same card tonight, defending the Flyweight title itself, the only thing on her mind is to impress. She heads in and straight for Merced, immediately putting her on notice with a barrage of jabs to the head. Merced just barely has time to put up her arms to intercept, but it’s the force and malice behind each of Roberts’ strikes that are stunning her backwards, forcing a couple of grunts from her lips. Fine by Roberts, who wants to look like she’s dominating as much as she actually is. She catches the Peruvian girl with a low blast to the body before hoping to score lucky with another knockout high hook. But Isabela not just intercepts the powerful swing, but responds immediately with a cross hand of her own that SINKS straight into the Doll’s face!! OUCH! Roberts didn’t see that one coming! Emma barely has time to let out a gurgle before she’s hounded by return fire from the shorter brunette, Merced wading inwards and banging another pair of mitts off that pale tummy, before rocking the Doll sideways left and right with more flashpoint swings. We’re already in the first minute and the action has reached a crescendo, with Roberts now getting beaten back towards the ropes, that stubbornness in the Doll’s heart refusing to let her disengage and defend. Thankfully, the bell rings soon after, and what started as a promising outing for Roberts has turned into her worst nightmare!

ROUND 2:
Roberts grinding her teeth and growling to be set loose again. You know what they say, right? If at first you don’t succeed, charge and charge in again. And that’s exactly what the Ice Queen does. Merced was expecting a slower round but finds the blonde immediately CHARGING towards her, forcing her to quickly cover up her head or get it blown off its hinges from that early, rocking overhand. Roberts STILL not letting up, banging more hooks off Merced’s frame whenever and wherever possible, managing to hit some, with Merced’s arms only able to intercept so many and so often at a time. Emma’s clearly on the warpath and it shows, not giving her opponent any room to breathe as she slaps another hard hook into the side of her head, sending Isabela groaning off to the side with her mouth hanging open. But just as Roberts follows after her, hoping to capitalize, she has to apply the brakes when one of Merced’s own hooks comes sailing back in return, almost snagging her clean on the body if not for a glancing off the forearm, before the GBS starlet rattles her right back with a follow-up swing to her arms high, which almost throws her off balance. Girls get into a makeshift brawl near the ropes, taking turns bashing leather into each other’s heads and bodies, but after the bell rings moments later, it’s Emma who’s left breathing hard and still gnashing her teeth. She’s taken the round this time, but she’d expected it to be a much wider margin than how it ended.

ROUND 3:
Merced, on the other hand, seems content to take all the victories she can. She’s better prepared for another of Emma’s charges at the bell, bracing herself for Emma’s bait and switch tactics in the opening minute. Roberts, having walked in with her usual sense of bravado, torches the arms with a flurry before ending with a bigger swing up high to stun. But almost all of her attacks are absorbed by Merced’s waiting arms, with the GBS girl instead picking and choosing when to bite back with that short-ranged jab to the nostrils or chin, each time snapping the Ice Queen’s head back with a painful grunt. Not too good news for Roberts if she doesn’t somehow turn the tide, and all that rushing in will surely sap a girl of her stamina just as easily as anything else in a fight. Still, the blonde seems determined to get into Isabela’s space and make her pay for that first humiliation, connecting with a low, lunging hook to that lean torso before attempting to blast her head skyways with a follow-up uppercut. No dice for the latter, and doubly no dice moments much later on when Merced simply responds with a slap of a right glove into her cheek, which jolts the Doll’s head to the side with a loud moan, before Roberts finds herself gets pushed backwards with more thumping shots into her sternum. If the second round was a disappointment enough, the third is a disaster, with Merced ending it strong and having enough of a sturdy defense to edge out another win for herself.

ROUND 4:
What’s this? Emma Roberts hanging back? Maybe she’s taken a page out of her fellow stablemate’s book, with Avril Lavigne having mellowed tons herself in recent months. And with three rounds of a lopsided result to show for it, the Dollhouse corner must be breathing a sigh of relief that Roberts is actually paying attention to her foe’s movements, putting up that guard as a main priority instead of letting her fists rip and roar inwards without much thought. It’s a wake-up call for Isabela Merced as well, who spends the first minute alone just waiting for Emma to make the first move, and when that doesn’t come, her impatience forces her to attack first, to little success. This allows Emma to counterattack with purpose, showing off her technical skills to return fire and do some damage: a straight jab landing flush to the cheek here, another banging hook off the ribcage to force Merced on the defensive. It’s Isabela’s turn to try and rush in and brawl in the final minute to try and turn the tide herself. But Emma simply moves in tandem with her foe’s advance, backing away and blocking the more egregious lunges at her body, before again shoving her fists back into Merced’s waiting face to earn her a wide round overall at the bell.

ROUND 5:
There seems to be a change in the air, as Merced now has a serious look etched on her face, and even though there’s that same expression on Emma Roberts’, it’s a good sign that the Dollhouse blonde is taking her opponent a little more seriously compared to last time. They circle and jab, forceful spikes of leather thrust into the arms, as well as above and below, each girl trying to break past their defenses and go HAM on the other. Emma is the one who excels in this equalized game, both pestering Isabela with her longer reach and landing painful shots off her forehead and midsection, and then diligently keeping the brunette off her case whenever Merced throws caution to the wind and attempts to rush her down. THAT’S how you do it, folks… Roberts not just adapting to her foe’s strategies here, but exploiting, throwing a shower of combos towards the Peruvian fighter’s head to mount damage so Merced is forced to retreat and keep away. Then, just as Merced takes another stiff punch above the eyelid, which throws her head and body backwards, Roberts sinks her teeth right in, stepping forwards and CATCHING her with a follow-up chug of leather into the body, before using the momentarily stun to LIFT her head into the air with a final uppercut landed to the chin!! OUCH in turn, as Merced lets out a groan and goes reeling backwards, on unsteady feet! THIS TIME, ROBERTS POUNCES, going to TOWN on what remains of the younger girl’s defenses, plunging more leather into her body and arms, arms and jawline, rocking the brunette this way and that silly! Merced’s swaying in the wind when a final hook her clean across the chin, which SWIVELS her about entirely, and with a look of anguish, her eyes roll up into her head and she loses her balance on her feet - AND DOWN SHE GOES with a loud BANG, hitting the sand face-first and then rolling over onto her back, utterly unmoving! It’s a KO5 moment right there, made more impressive with Merced barely making ANY move to get back up! The referee’s already waving his arms overhead, declaring Roberts the undisputed victor of this rematch!

Official Result: Emma Roberts defeats Isabela Merced via KO5!

AFTER:
And the Ice Queen evens the score! It was an early scare in this fight but Roberts managed to turn things around by the end, and none too soon! Roberts lets out a well-deserved ROAR for no one else but her own credit, striding to the center of the ring and striking a cocky pose with both arms outstretched and raised high. Say what you want about Roberts, but she knows how to get the job done and in style!

Case in point: Roberts immediately sheds her gloves and walks back over to Isabela, the fallen princess still left laid out on the hot sand. Well, she’s given a “helping hand” by Roberts, who doesn’t skip a beat and lunges down for her messed up hair, before dragging the listless youngster towards the center of the ring.

The GBS corner is up in arms but what the hell are they gonna do? Get in between the Ice Queen and her prey? Even the greatest daredevil would be a fool to do so... Roberts is given free reign to toss the spent Merced back down to the soft sand, the brunette hitting the ground face first with a groan.

The victorious Roberts then proceeds to triumphantly plant her bare foot down into the poor girl’s upper back, posing once more with her hands on her hips, making Isabela squirm beneath her as her weight pins the defeated GBS star down, face in sand. “Hope you like the taste of utter defeat, with a side dish of SAND, b*tch!.” Roberts sneers down at the young girl who dared disrespect her less than a year ago and is now paying the price, The Doll pressing her weight down on Merced’s back one last time for emphasis. It’s a dominant end to a great victory for the veteran actress who continues to prove she’s one of the top women in the division with a 4th straight win over much younger competition this year.

Emma acknowledges it as much later on when she takes her leave from the ring, then taking a moment to speak to reporters by ringside. “Isabela said I was “old news” in January. Well…” The blonde chuckles, looking straight into the camera. “Here’s the LATEST news, Merced – I just WRECKED you!. Poor little you. If you ever want to get destroyed again, give my management a call. I might be able to squeeze you into my busy schedule. I’m always up for destroying these young, clueless girls who love to run their mouths. It’s addicting!.” Emma is then asked about the flyweight title bout for tonight and the blonde definitely has something to say. “I knew Avril would never give me a shot at the title, she’s too much of a wimpy coward for that. But today’s the last day of her ever touching that belt. Nessie is going to destroy her in there, that is obvious. And when Nessie is the new champion, she BETTER give me a shot…or she’ll look like a complete, cowardly loser. I wrecked her in 2019, and I will wreck her again if she’s ever brave enough to challenge me. You want revenge Nessie?” Roberts smirks into the camera. “A shot at the title is the ONLY way you’re ever going to get anywhere near me. I’ll be waiting, whore.”

Smiling, Roberts turns to the fans one last time, blowing a few kisses before retiring to her backstage room, leaving Merced laid out on the hot sand surrounded by her medical team. The tough youngster has suffered her 3rd loss in a row today after facing strong competition in names like Holt, Hudgens and now Roberts. After finishing 2022 with a disappointing 1-4 record, Isabela falls to a similar 1-4 record in 2023 as well, and perhaps it’s time to allow the talented brunette to bounce back and get some momentum going with fights against some of the newer young talent around.

We’ll have to see how the GBS choose to handle this delicate situation moving forward, but we wish Isabela the best.
