Kelsey Meritt versus Joy Corrigan

Before: Both fighters repulsed by champions this year, looking to reestablish. "When I'm on, no model on Earth can stand against me," Joy says in all sincerity. "Take Taylor: I brought the model out of her, and I'll get to Kelsey the same way. See - they fight, they compete, but they're little hot-house flowers who wilt in the real heat. And Joy Corrigan is the Real Heat!" Kelsey rolling her eyes at tough-talking blonde: Merritt's looking to make a statement. "I promise you this," Kelsey says at podium, "if Joy comes at me flailing - like she did with Tay-Tay? I will destroy her. She cannot punch with me - it's impossible. If she boxes, at least she might survive, but slug? No - it's inconceivable." Joy in white jogbra and trainers, matching gloves, hair back in a braid. Kelsey in black one-piece, matching gloves, hair loose over back and breasts.

R1: Kelsey gloves up at temples, bending at the waiust, moving her head low and trying to rotate up out of the crouch with hooks., Joy loose-limbed, right hand at her chest, left across her stomach--she's wading in, twisting into clouting side to side power shots, disdaining a jab in an effort to get in and work early. Thick two-way punching, but Merritt getting the better of it. Kelsey riding back nice with Corrigan’s right hand, taking the edge off, then jamming back a stubby right to the chest, and that clanging left hook off the jaw, blonde butt in the ropes late, not answering back as Merritt plugs gut with shoving leather to the bell.

R2: Girls flat footed, falling in with power, Kelsey still setting up her hook with rolling upper body movement, getting firm clouts on Joy's jaw. Corrigan bringing in lefts and rights wide, but finishing up close on Merritt, landing drifting blows herself on occasion in slinging trade, Even till late: girls turn into simultaneous walloping hooks and Kelsey's legs give way. Merritt wide-eyed, hands drooping--she totters back on her heels, minces forward a few steps--she's hurt and Corrigan wades in. Joy with her slinging, walking barrage, clouting lefts and rights clobbers Kelsey to the ropes, brunette shipping groggy at the bell.

R3: Kelsey shakes it off, hands up high, blocking shots against her ears and jaw, dipping down and getting into Joy’s breadbasket with stubby rising rights, turning over the hook on the chin. Joy backing up, then did-digging underneath with limber left/rights, girls falling in, struggling for more work. Corrigan showing improved head movement, making Merritt miss over the top, creating with some openings for the blonde in a close third.

R4: Kelsey in that tight guard, dips under a bridges right hand, comes back with a rolling hook to the chops, Joy’s turn to funky foot hurt. Merritt hard-eyed as she steps close, jams a downward chopping right onto Corrigan's mouth, dig-digs her belly a hook and nails her a hard right cross as blonde falters. Joy dazed on the ropes, right hand up, left low--she closes up her stance as Kelsey climbs aboard. Classic Lima-style lashing, scalp rubbing hard against Corrigan face and upper chest, palms and shoulders shoving the blonde back, chugging, clubbing assault--short and thick up the middle, or bashing flat 'round the sides. Constant pounding assault leaves Joy slack-jawed, throbbing as Kelsey goes bell to bell--struts back to her corner beaming.

R5: Joy sidestepping, dancing around the perimeter in the first minute, just wants to frustrate Kelsey, get her breathing hard. Merritt keeps coming, hands up, trying to step into Corrigan with a chopping right, spitting out a little jab as she cuts down the ring. Midway through, Joy drops a right over Kelsey's left, startling the brunette on the cheek, Merritt’s front legs gives a shimmy as she covers up hurt. Corrigan crowding in close, scrounging in Kelsey's gut with digging little hooks, joining in with muscular right hands to the pit of the stomach--brunette groaning to the ropes, scrambles to keep it together. Joy in hard with her head, then picking Merritt up with a short contact right uppercut, back in tough with her head again and a WITHERING left hook hard on the liver. Kelsey shouting in pain, hands outstretched to Joy's neck, but brunette's legs are GONE! Merritt slides down Corrigan's thighs to quake gutshot on the mat and this one's OVER! Joy Corrigan KO5 in spectacular fashion as she finally breaks her O&E jinx!

After: Kelsey in denial when she comes to; in teary-eyed shock when Joy yanks her up off her stool for a walk of shame, blonde glowing as she pulls Merritt about, showing her off in the corners, really rejoicing in brunette's abject misery. "I knew I'd destroy her," Joy confidently relates in postfight, despite the fact she narrowly got out of perilous first&fourth rounds. "I knew it at the weigh in - I always make Kelsey feel unlovely, and that ruins her fighting confidence. You know, she and Kelly both lost to Emily, and beating her makes me think I'M the logical choice to fight for one of the titles. My guys should think about that, because I need tiaras and belts and all the trimmings. Other girls have these things, and I deserve them too."
