Before: The “mini-stable war” between HISC and the PLP opens with HISC’s Michelle Williams taking on the PLP’s young Brec Bassinger. Mish were frank about in the pre-fight presser.
“I do not understand in how she is 2-1 against me. I beat her the first time we met in 2020, but then she somehow or other beat me in 2021. I thought I would fox that the next year, but she beat me again. This intolerable. I am determined to put my stamp on that upstart and make sure she knows who the superior fighter!”
“I am worrying you, Mish?” Brec inquiries. “You ought to be worried. I have now beaten you two fightin a row. If you weren’t so arrogantly stubborn you have quit while you were ahead—or behind, I guess would more accurate.”
Mish’s cheeks redden and she snaps: “Beating that insufferable attitude out you will such a pleasure!
“And I am going to enjoy deflating your big ego a third time!” Brec retorted.
Tempers were clearly rising and FCBA officials move to steer both fighters off the stage. However ill-will clearly hanging over the ring as the two met for the bout. Michelle is in a white one piece swimsuit with black gloves and books with white laces. Mish’s short hair is wetted down. Brec is in a sexy black one piece with white gloves and boots her blonde pulled back in a messy ponytail. Tense delay during yhe referee’s instructions is followed by a sharp, mean-spirited “tap” of th4e gloves and the fightes go to their corners. DING!
R1: Brec and Michelle both out quickly, but Brec boldly attacks early with fast jabs to smack up the Hall of Famer’s face. Mish knocked back on her heels, but strikes back with hard hooks into the younger blonde’s midsection. Brec drops back momentarily, then comes back in feinting towards the body but ringing up Mish to the chin. Mish knocked back on her heels again, but this time Brec moves with her and now jams in the belly hooks. Mish doubled up from these impacts, retreats and throws up sharp jabbing into Brec;s face that breaks up her attack. Still, the young blonde wins round wide.
R2: Brec maintaining her aggressiveness in the second stanza. She is moving around Michelle Williams, apparently trying to confuse the veteran, and pumping in a steady series of punches to the head and body. Mish seems be willing to stay on the defensive, but she is taking a lot of leather though she is keeping up a steady attack on Brec’s ribs. Then Brec fires in a late series of right-left combos to Mish’s jaw that makes the veteran’s knees quiver and she stumbles back, covering her face with her gloves as Brec fires away at her exposed torso. Bell rings to end the round and Brec Bassinger has won another round wide.
R3: Once again, Brec Bassinger moves aggressively towards Michelle Williams, but this time it is Mish who strikes first. The veteran blonde lunges forward and clocks Brec with a head swiveling right to the jaw. Brec staggers off to one side. Mish bodies up on the dazed Brec, driving her gloves fists into Brec’s right side ribs, trying to drive her into the ropes. Brec manages to turn and use her jab to try to stall Michelle’s attack. It does allow her slip around Mish and gain time at the center of the ring until Mish comes at her again. Brisk exchange of head shots fr a few moments, but then Mish lands against Brec’s chin with a right/left combo. Brec falling back gloves up high, trying to back out of danger as Mish slashes away at Brec’s rib cage and abs. Bell sounds and Mish sets back from a battered Brec. There is smile on Mish’s face as she walks to her corner. Michelle Williams wins her first round of the bout by an easy margin.
R4: Mish and Brec are both quick off their stools They head for the center of the ring with determination They open up with solid blows to the sides of each other’s heads. Then try working the jaw and chin. Then the battle drops down to an exchange of hooks to the body. However Brec then shifts her attack with a sudden drilling right/left into Mish’s chin. Mish;s head is snapped back and she lurches backwards. Now Brec drives in some fast jabs to bust up the veteran blonde’s face until she can get her gloves up to block them. Brec again shifts gears to fore in hook after hook into Mish’s belly. Mish groaning and gurgling as she is bent double and trying to scramble backward to buy herself some breathing room. Brec hanging with her, keeps up the body banging to the bell. Now it is Brec’s turn to step back and look over a worked over opponent.. Brec wins another round wide.
R5: Brec hustling forward, clearly eager to continue her beating of Mish, but before she land her first punch, Mish strikes first with a deep hook to the gut. Brec jackknifes forward and reels back gasping for air. Mish now banging Brec’s head from side to side and then it is back to to the abs with more drilling hooks. Brec all doubled up, looking confused as she just tries toguard her head from a finishing blow. Mish then works to get Brec back into the ropes. Now Brec goes to the jab and slows up the attack with blows into Mish’s face. Mish then attacks Brec to the right side, pouring in the leather against her side ribs, Brec shuddering as her ribs are now white-hot with pain signals and she is finally driven sideways into the ropes. Mish digs in and pours I the leather. Brec writhing and twisting but she is not going down. Rounds ends with Michelle Williams scoring a big, wide win and leaving Brec wobbling back to her corner.
R6: PLP corner crew working hard to clean Brec up while Brec and trainer Nia Peeples discuss the situation. Brec not looking happy as she comes and adopts a defensive posture, Michelle swarming in, circling Brec, just firing away at Brec, testing her defenses and landing quite again and again. Mish showing special attention to that right flank of the young blonde and Brec keeps trying to turn away. Mish keeps at her until Brec seems to lose patience with being on the defense. Brec whirls around and goes for Mish’s head, but it Mish seems to have been waiting for this. Mish deflects the incoming punch and then fires back a counter right. This blow hits Brec hard on the forehead, Brec shudders and Mish then brings a left into Brec’s chin. DOWN GOES BREC BASSINGER! Brec spins around and crashes to the canvas in a heap. A smirking Mish trots to the neutral corner. Referee moves and starts counting. Brec pulling herself together, summons her strength and makes it to her feet at “NINE!” Fight resumes, but now Brec is fully defensive, she has her face in her gloves and just trying to keep her wounded right side away from Mish Williams. Mish still hoping for a finisher from her flank attack, but Brec’s doing too good a job of keeping it away. Still the bell sounds and Mish Williams has the first knockdown and has won the round easily.
R7: It is a chastened Brec Bassinger who sits on her stool as Nia Peeples wags a finger in her face, It seems evident Brec was supposed to stay defensive in the last round, but got goaded into a rash attack. Nia then gives Brec further instructions and her charge nods solomenly. When the bell rings, Brec comes out with a determined look. Michelle Williams is coming out too and she looks determined to end this NOW! Mish starts out with quick thrusts at Brec;s sensitive right flank, but quicjly reveals her real intention to try to get at Brec to the chin or jaw. Brec hit glancing blows as she manages to duck away, but then she comes back a banging right off Mish’s chin. Mish swings back at Brec, but again can’t land squarely and again she gets countered hard in her own chin. Mish falls back, trying to suck Brec in close, but Brec moves to the side and bangs three fasts jabs into Mish’s jaw. Brec then sides back and unleashes right/left uppercuts to Mish’s chin. Mish suddenly glassy-eyed and Brec sinks to down and then shoots up with a final, shattering right uppercut to Mish’s chin. MISH CRASHES ONT HER BACK AND LIES THERE STARFISHED! Brec wastes no time in hastening to the neutral corner. Referee moving in and starts to count. Mish trying valiantly to rise, manages to reach her knees and then tries to push herself up. Crowd holds its breath….
“EIGHT!....NINE!....TEN!...YOURE OUT!!”
“NOOOOOOOO!!!!” Mish wails as she finally does make up just a few seconds too late, but she is so wobbly standing there that the referee tells her:
“I would have stopped the fight, Ms. Williams you’re in no shape to go on!”
Mish hangs her head and stomps her foot in frustation.
THE WINNER BREC BASSINGER OF THE PLP OVER ICHELLE WILLIAMS OF THE HISC BY KO7!
Score: PLP: 1 HISC: 0
AFTER: The mini-event off to a bad start for HISC as Michelle Williams loses her bout with the PLP;s Brec Bassinger (and is now 3-1 against BB). Brec takes Michele on a Walk of Shame as her PLP teammates whoop and cheer.
“I was glad to get this war off to a good start. I admit I got reckless in the 6th and nearly blew it, but I came back and took Mish down. Shes been the terror of younger fighters for some time, but I’d say I have gone pretty far in ‘defanging’ her tonight. Now lets settle down and see Troian and Shay mop the ring with the rest of the HISC’s!”
And as the fans look forward to the next bout, they can ponder that Brec Bassinger came close to disaster, but still managed to score the win. No doubt this fight is one Mish Williams would prefer to forget, but it would a foolish younger fighter to think she is no longer a danger to newcomer FCBA flyweights. |
