Victoria Justice vs. Dove Cameron
(Results: Lookout. Words: Wiz)
BEFORE:
There was a time, not so very long ago, that Justice was one of those hot prospect girls everyone thought was on her way to FCBA glory. Since, she's been in four stables, lost sixty percent of her fights, and quietly turned 30 this past February. But, for those who may have begun to despair of ever seeing the Victoria turn the corner, well. All they have to do is look in the OPPOSITE corner. There stands Dove Cameron, another formerly hot prospect who fluked out of Mirage Boxing and was left for dead on the slag heap of failed prospects consigned to the indie ranks. Dove, however, was rescued by HISC, and the talking heads, rather than delving into whether or not Victoria will ever turn the corner, have spent the week discussing how the acquisitions of Cameron and Natalie Alyn Lind have turned the Cracker Consortium from a stable battling Father Time to remain on top to, once again, a dominant force in the two lower divisions.
None of that, of course, interests or worries Tori, who's all about getting a big "W" tonight. "As I've been telling everyone, I'm not as good as Dove. I'm BETTER. And, I'm going to PROVE it."
"You know what Justice is?" asks a hard-eyed Dove. "Just my next victim. Nothing more than that."
ROUND ONE:
Not much question this one is going to be about geometry. Tori has the reach, and she's using it early. Justice plenty athletic, moves well, and, when she gets the jab on target, well. Everything flows from there. The older brunette puts punches together, keeps Dove at a distance, doesn't let her get to spots where she can get off. Result is a round in which Justice is not just calling the shots, she's making the shots, shot after shot, for the entirety of the round. Dove manages some brief bursts of offense, but, while they're effective, they're nowhere near enough to offset what Tori's doing when she's controlling the proceedings with that left. At the bell, Justice has left no doubt, taking the round wide to grab the 10-9 lead.
ROUND TWO:
Second begins the way the first ended, with Tori dominant, using that length and that accurate jab to throw Dove off her game. About midway through the round, Dove's efforts to problem solve begin to bear fruit. She's moving the feet more, angling, keeping the gloves high, angling, doing whatever she can to foul her rival's aim. And, when Cameron can get to middle distances and get off? She doesn't waste the opportunity. She's throwing punches in bunches and slowly making up the stagger from the first half of the round. Unfortunately for the former champ, it's a bit TOO slowly. At the bell, Tori's taken the round narrowly to extend her lead to 20-18.
ROUND THREE:
Two way stuff this time, as both fighters get some, but not all of what they want. Instead of a round divided into two halves, as we got in the second, the third sees periods of action in which both fighters dominate. There are times when Justice is able to rule the roost with that long left jab. She gets it in Dove's face, stops her with it, then gets off in combination. At other times, Cameron's able to get to her spots and do what she did in the second half of the second, land punches in bunches, scoring well with both hands. When the bell rings, it's close for the second round in a row, but this time, it's Dove taking the points to cut Justice's lead to 29-28.
ROUND FOUR:
The bell rings and DOVE RINGS TORI'S BELL! Oh, Cameron lands a NASTY right hook just seconds into the round and Tori is HURT! Justice quickly backing and covering as the younger woman pushes all her chips into the center of the table. HISC beauty THUMPING away upstairs, ignoring the body Justice has put on sale almost completely. She's all about the finish now, but Tori does an excellent job of denying her, staying off the ropes, jabbing back in spots, and, when the legs begin to come around, countering effectively on occasion. By the final seconds, we're back on even terms, but the damage has been done. Dove's taken it wide and evened things at 38.
ROUND FIVE:
Justice back to range, using that jab. She's got the legs all the way back now, keeping Dove at bay, looking a lot like she did in the fir...BOOM! Right hand, CAMERON! Dove a NICE right hand counter and TORI IS HURT AGAIN! Younger brunette POURING on the fire now, backing Justice to the ropes and HAMMERING AWAY AT THE MIDSECTION. She's buying body in bulk, PUNISHING her rival. Justice crouching and DOWN SHE GOES! Dove PLANTS an uppie between those gloves and SNAPS Tori's head back. Justice's knees give way and she CRASHES, face first, to the canvas, falling past Cameron's right shoulder. The count is a formality. Tori is both down AND out. It's OVER! And your winner by KO5 is Dove Cameron!
AFTER:
Dove matter-of-fact in the post. "Like I said, Tori was nothing but an opponent for me tonight. Everyone knows what I'm after, WHO I'm after. That's right, 'Nessa, it's YOU and it's those BELTS. If you manage to hang on to them tonight, well. Check your phone. There'll be a message from me. And, if you've got any guts, you won't ghost me." |
