Kate Upton vs Amy Willerton
(Writing: LMW / Results: Lookout!)
Welterweight Title
Kate Upton (Champion) (31, 5’10, 124-33 FCBA, Lookout! Boxing)
Amy Willerton (31, 5’9, 20-8 FCBA, League of Mighty Women)
Pre-Fight: Lookout! Boxing’s Kate Upton will be making her first defense of her fifth reign of the Welterweight Title against League of Mighty Women’s Amy Willerton. These two faced each other for the first time earlier this year on the beach and Amy defeated Kate to take away her Queen of the Beach title, which was considered a huge upset. Amy will be looking for a repeat performance to take another title from the hands of her opponent, while Kate will be looking to turn things over and avenge her earlier defeat to hang on to her title this time.
The champ kicks things off at the pre-fight press conference and she looks as confident as ever as she begins to address the audience. “I’m not just any champion, I’m the Queen of the FCBA and I’m the one and only ‘Alpha Blonde’ around here, so it is stupid that I have to prove myself against one of these beta blondes, but here we are. This British bytch got a lucky punch last time, so now I have to put her in her place alongside all the other beta blondes!” She gives a snotty look towards her opponent.
Having won their first encounter, Amy isn’t going to back down though as she fires back with her response. “I thought I humbled Kate when I beat her and took her title the first time, but apparently I need to do it a second time to get the message through her enormous ego. I don’t mind beating her a second time though, because I didn’t get to knock her out the first time. This time I will definitely leave her jugs up on the canvas like an alpha bytch!” She turns to Kate with a smirk on her face and realizes that her opponent is not happy with her choice of words and she is coming over! Amy gets up as well and soon they get chest to chest, looking ready to throw hands. The event officials and both teams act quickly to separate them before it comes to blows before the title fight.
It is fight night and the challenger, Amy enters the arena first accompanied by her coach Ali Landry. Amy waves at the fans cheering for her as she makes her way to the ring. Once inside Ali and Amy go over their game plan for the fight. Ali knows Kate well and experienced her power first-hand, so while she failed to defeat her back in the day, her presence in Amy’s corner definitely helped in that previous victory. She will be hoping to lead her fighter to another one in this title fight.
Amy wears a red bikini set with black gloves and boots, while her hair is tied into a loose ponytail.
The champion, Kate comes out next followed closely behind by her coach Nicole Kidman. She waves and blows kisses on her way to the ring as she gets a huge roar from her adoring fans. Her demeanor changes once she enters the ring though and she now clearly means business as she gives Amy a long, hard stare.
Kate wears a gold bikini set with white gloves and boots, while her hair is tied into a battle braid.
Both fighters come to the center of the ring to listen to the final instructions of the referee and then it looks like instead of a touch of gloves we are getting a cold, hard staredown between the two as they clearly don’t like each other. After the referee urges them to do so, they step back to their respective corners and we are ready for 10 rounds of welterweight action for the title!
Fight: Round 1: The bell rings and to the fans’ delight, neither fighter is going for a cautious and calculated start expected for a title fight. Instead, they both rush to the center of the ring and the fists start to fly right away. Kate steps in with a big hook but she misses, which gives the opportunity for Amy to land a one-two combo as she times her approach better. Kate sets up her guard in time to defend the second combination though and then she counters with an uppercut to Amy’s abs. Next few punches either miss or get blocked and then it is Kate who finds the target again first with a right hook. Amy ducks under another hook to land a double jab-straight combo to Kate’s midsection, but then she gets hit with a big uppercut that forces her to take a couple of steps back. Just as Kate decides to follow her, Amy tries to step up again causing them to bump each other. It flares up the emotions again and it doesn’t take long for this fight to turn into a brawl with forearm pushes, shoulder bumps, clinches and wild swings. Kate has the physical advantage and she has more firepower too, so is loving it as she gets to bully Amy around for the rest of the round. Amy is fighting back and doing some damage as well, but clearly not as much as Kate, who wins the opening round in a dominant fashion and makes a clear statement.
After the bell, corner teams get put up to work early as both fighters are marked up already, Amy more so of course. As for the coaches, Nicole is happy with her fighter and tells her to keep up the aggression, while Ali has to put in more work with her fighter. She tells Amy “You need to calm down. This is not the type of fight you will be winning against Kate. So just slow things down next round and start working towards our game plan.”
Round 2: Kate is on the attack again as she wants to keep the pace up, but Amy clearly had enough of it in the previous round, so she listens to her coach and switches to a defensive approach, trying to slow things down. She keeps her guard up and her feet moving to keep her distance from Kate. The champ tries to close the distance and get her hands over the challenger. She succeeds from time to time, but while some of her punches slip the guard of her opponent, most of them either miss or get blocked. Amy also finds the target with some of her defensive jabs, but they are meant to keep Kate at bay rather than doing damage. As a result we get a slower and less exciting second round compared to the banger of an opening round, but Kate must be content as she wins it and extends her lead on the scorecards.
Round 3: More of the same at the beginning of the third round as Amy keeps defending and circling around the ring, while Kate chases her to land a few clean shots if she can get past her guard. After the first minute however, Amy starts firing back as she steps in for a quick combination and steps back out when Kate swings. She is still not doing much damage, but she is clearly frustrating Kate with this hit-and-run tactic. It is almost like Amy is using these short combinations to provoke the champ and to cause her to pursue and attack her more recklessly. Kate indeed gets more aggressive as frustration starts to build up and she goes for wilder swings as she steps in pursuit of the challenger. It gives some counterpunching opportunities to Amy, but she is not taking full advantage of those yet as she is still wary of Kate’s power. Still, Amy wins the round narrowly to get herself a bit closer to the champ on points and starts to gain some momentum.
Round 4: Looks like Amy continues to execute her game plan in the fourth round as she finds her rhythm to move in and out of range to tag the champ and make her chase after her. As the round progresses, Kate is not only visibly frustrated, but she is clearly losing steam as well. She ends up going for wild and sloppy swings, leaving her defenseless for any counterattack. Unlike last round, Amy starts to take advantage of these openings with body shots, one-two combos to the face and hooks to the chin. She is still avoiding staying for longer exchanges, but she is definitely doing damage now and it is accumulating over time. Kate is still moving forward and chasing her opponent even if it doesn’t seem to be working for her, which makes her look like a zombie as the round comes to a close. It won’t end well for the champ if she continues like this. Amy looks happy as she wins the round wide and takes control of the fight by sticking to her game plan.
During the break, it is Nicole’s turn to talk some sense into her fighter. “Okay Kate, deep breaths and listen. I know you want to beat up Amy badly, but you can’t just chase her around the whole time. You’re the champion, let her come to you. Just take command of the center of the ring, let her do her own thing and look for opportunities to cut the angles and catch her quickly. No more running around and wasting your energy!”
Round 5: Kate looks more passive as she starts the fifth round with a defensive approach. It is not clear yet if she is listening to her coach or if she is just hurt and tired. Amy is playing it safe and only steps in for short combinations, trying to make the champ chase her again. Kate is not taking the bait this time though and stays on defense. Amy keeps moving in and out to land some clean shots, but she gets too comfortable with her movement and that’s what Kate has been waiting for. As Amy takes a step back after a combination, Kate realizes that she can cut the angle to trap her opponent, so she steps in with a left hook. Amy is able to block it, but the follow up uppercut to her abs lands hard and forces her to step back. The champ steps to her left, lands a right hook and gives Amy a forearm push to trap her in the corner. Kate has Amy where she wants her now, so she starts firing away with her arsenal. Amy tightens her guard and braces for impact, but while she blocks a good number of shots, it is hard to switch between protecting her body and her head with the amount of punches Kate throws at her, so she ends up eating some nasty shots. Kate is not slowing down as she enjoys punishing her opponent and she is possibly looking into ending this fight right here, right now. Amy is not willing to give up on her title challenge though, so she finds a way to survive by ducking under a big right hook and then clinches with the champ. After the referee separates them, she quickly moves away from the corner, keeps her feet moving and soon the bell rings, so the challenger survives to fight another round. Kate wins that round wide though and she is once again leading on the scorecards.
Ali tries to encourage her fighter during the break, while the corner team works on getting Amy ready for the next round, applying ice packs to her body and an enswell under her left eye. At the opposite corner, Kate is taking deep breaths as she used a lot of energy in that last minute, but she is happy knowing that she hurt Amy. Nicole tells her to stay focused and to end this thing soon.
Round 6: Amy is still feeling the effects of the beating she got in the previous round, so she is on the defense and she tries to keep her distance with the champ. Kate is focused on knocking the challenger out though, so she looks for the right moment to cut the angle and she soon finds it. She steps in with a one-two combination, forcing Amy to tighten her guard to defend again. Amy blocks a couple of shots up top, so Kate goes to the body and lands a couple of hooks to the ribs to open up the defense. She then goes up top again. Her jab gets blocked, but then she slips a straight punch through Amy’s guard. It lands hard and breaks Amy’s guard. Kate tries to capitalize on it and swings with a big right hook, but she misses as Amy ducks and then bam! Amy hits Kate with an uppercut to the chin and the champ looks stunned as she is caught off guard. Amy goes for it with a right hook and a left hook to the champ’s chin and down goes the champ! What a turn around! “Stay down, alpha bytch!” Amy yells at the champ before walking over to the neutral corner. The referee begins the count. 1…2…3… Kate sits up and shakes her head, she still looks confused about how quickly things have changed 4…5… she gets on one knee, trying to muster her strength 6…7…8… she gets up and raises her guard to show the referee that she can continue. Amy looks a bit annoyed, but she still rushes at her opponent confidently, hoping that the history will repeat itself. Unlike their last fight though, Kate is not willing to go down without a fight. With the champ firing back, Amy can’t put as much pressure on Kate as she wants. She is still winning the exchanges, but she is not getting another knockdown or the stoppage that she desires as the round comes to an end. A huge momentum swing as Amy wins the round to tie the score again, but more importantly, she takes the control of the fight with that knockdown.
Round 7: Both fighters are ready to go at it again as they meet in the center. They stand and trade as Amy scores with a couple of body shots, while Kate misses with the jab, but lands a straight. Then they both go for the body and it quickly becomes physical as they wrestle for position, creating space with shoulder bumps to land shovel hooks. After a while they end up clinching, but they still hit each other from the clinch, so the referee ends up having to separate them again.
As we enter the second half of the round, both fighters are starting to get sluggish with their movement, but neither of them are backing down either. Amy initiates the exchange with a successful jab-straight combo, but then she misses with the hook as Kate lands an uppercut to her abs. They both miss with their next couple of attempts and then Amy finds the target again as she lands a right hook to Kate’s chin, forcing the champ to take a couple of steps back. Feeling that it is her moment, she steps in with a big hook, but Kate dodges it and comes back with a hook of her own that lands hard! Now Amy is staggering, but she fires back with another hook. It is too sloppy though, so Kate easily avoids it and lands an uppercut to lift the challenger’s chin, setting her for a massive hook to the jaw that turns and drops Amy face first to the canvas! The champ returns the favors and taunts her opponent as she stands over her. “I dare you to get up, bytch!” The referee ends up having to order Kate to get to the neutral corner and then begins the count. 1…2…3… Amy moans as she slowly rolls over 4…5… she sits up as she rubs her jaw 6…7…8… she attempts to get up, but she stumbles and falls down on her knees again 9…10! Amy can’t get up, it is all over!
Official Result: Winner by KO in round 7 and still the FCBA Lightweight Champion, Kate Upton!
Post-Fight: Kate quickly gets her gloves removed and then goes over to help Amy get back to her feet. It is clearly not out of her kindness though as she roughly pushes the barely standing Amy to the corner. Just as Ali decides to enter the ring, her shirt gets tugged and she turns over to find Nicole. After a short exchange of some select words, they start pushing each other, so the officials end up having to separate them and escort them to the backstage.
With Ali gone, Amy is at Kate’s mercy as she is barely conscious and leaning against the turnbuckle. Kate walks over to the opposite corner and then slowly turns to face her defeated opponent, while the crowd buzzes with excitement as they know what is coming. Kate gets a running start and then launches herself towards her foe to execute her signature jug splash! Amy cries out as first her jugs and then her whole body get crushed under Kate’s weight and bigger jugs. Looks like Amy has passed out after the impact and she is about to slump, but Kate holds her upright against the turnbuckle for a little longer as she has some things to say. “Pathetic! I was hoping that you can take another jug splash, but clearly that is too much to expect from a beta blonde. You will never be an alpha blonde like me, Amy, so you better know your place and show respect to your Queen from now on! Now, let’s leave you jugs up on the canvas.” She lets go of Amy, who slumps down the turnbuckle unceremoniously. Then the champ grabs Amy’s ankles and pulls her to the center of the ring, where she leaves her spreadeagled and poses over her with the title belt in her hands as the crowd cheers for Kate!
It was a hard fought battle and for a moment there, it looked like history will repeat itself and Amy will upset Kate for a second time to take away her title again, but Kate showed her grit to make a comeback and demonstrated her knockout power to successfully make her first defense of her fifth reign with the Welterweight Title. It is fair to assume that the rivalry between Kate and Amy is far from over though as they are now tied in their head-to-head record and clearly no love lost between them before, during and after that fight.
