Sophie Mudd versus Jessica Lowndes (JMD Title)

BEFORE:

No doubt the challenger has a little ANIMOSITY toward the champion's stable. "They've been ducking me for YEARS. All these events they have that I should be in, and they run away. Well. Mudd can try running all she wants tonight. It won't work. I'm going to FIND her and I'm going to KNOCK HER ASS OUT!"

"If Lowndes wants to come in and bang with me," says Sophie with a smile, "Well. She's going to find out JUST how bad an idea that IS."

ROUND ONE:

Lowndes wants to bang with Sophie. She steps right to Mudd and starts banging away, head, body, rack. And, the champion is more than willing to play on these terms. The brunettes are tossing away any pretense of defense and just HAVING at it and MUDD IS HURT! Lowdnes a short right hook and Sophie is GOBSMACKED! Jessica all in, winging away with both hands and DOWN GOES THE CHAMPION! A minute and a half in and Lowndes has knocked Mudd to her back! Jessica to a neutral corner quickly, watching and waiting as Mudd struggles to her feet at eight. Ref gives her the mandatory and ON COMES LOWNDES! Remainder of the round sees Jessica pummel Sophie along the ropes, tenderizing tummy jolting jug, hammering away at the head. At the bell, Mudd's still standing, but Lowndes leads 10-8.

ROUND TWO:

Grim stuff for the champion. She's wobbly and hurt and the challenger is taking full advantage. Lowndes stepping forward behind the left, backing up Mudd again and again. About a minute in, the champ is pinned to the ropes and the challenger goes RACK in a big way! Mudd tying up, hanging on, Lowndes shoving off, going upstairs, trying to finish this thing. Ref looking in closely as Sophie does just enough to keep him at bay. Final seconds see Lowndes hup-hupping to jug as Mudd keeps the gloves high, riding out the storm to the bell. When it rings, it's a shutout for the challenger, who's now built a big 20-17 lead after just two rounds.

ROUND THREE:

Mudd still wobbly, but Jessica's used a lot of energy in the first two rounds, and it shows. She's getting work done early on, but she's definitely slowed down, and, as we move into the second minute, Sophie shakes the worst of the damage and begins firing back, giving as good as she gets for, basically, the first time in the fight. Final minute sees Mudd begin to get the better of things. Lowndes is never hurt, but she's thrown onto the back foot more than once, as the champion slowly makes up the stagger. In the final seconds, Mudd pulls ahead, and, when the bell rings, she grabs the points, albeit narrowly, and cuts Jessica's lead to 29-27.

ROUND FOUR:

The champion has seized the momentum here, and she's determined to keep it. She's not exactly throwing caution to the wind, but it's getting pretty breezy as Sophie steps to behind the left jab, backing up the determined challenger with hard shot to head and body. Jessica being forced to give ground, but engaging in a fighting retreat, banging back to head, body, rack. BOOM! Right hand, SOPHIE and Jessica is STEPPIN' IN FENCE POST HOLES! Champion turns up the heat to eleven, backing the challenger up with blizzards of hard shot upstairs, and, then, after backing Lowndes to the ropes, it's time to go RACK in a major way! Jessica hanging on, tying up, trying to run clock here. She's taking a licking, but, despite her rival's best efforts, the Canadian hangs on to the bell. It's Mudd, wide, but Lowndes still leads it 38-37.

ROUND FIVE:

Champion looking to finish. Caution is now swirling in hurricane strength winds as Mudd wades forward, banging away at the wobbly challenger, working her body and rack all while looking for the shot upstairs that could finish this thing. Lowndes able to counter solidly in spots, but that doesn't slow down Sophie...BOOM! Right hand, MUDD and DOWN GOES JESSICA! Lowndes sent her her back with a NASTY straight right. Sophie to a neutral corner to watch and wait...but Jessica not going down this easily. She's up at eight and takes the mandatory...and ON COMES SOPHIE! Mudd a buzz saw winging away with both hands, trapping Lowndes on the ropes. HUP HUP to jug! Hooking ribs, then back to the rack. Jessica trying to keep the elbows tight and the hands high, but Sophie HOOKING that rack then wobbling Lowndes with a right uppie and IT"S OVER! The ref leaps in and it's OVER! And your winner by TKO5 and STILL JMD Champion, Sophie Mudd!

AFTER:

Sophie smiling but plenty respectful. "NO idea how flyweights stand up to that punch of hers. I'm in there with bantams almost every time out and she hits as hard as almost ANY of them. Problem is, she DOESN'T hit as hard as ME. I can dish it out, AND I can take it. That's why I'm JMD Champion!"
