Olivia Rodrigo just shakes her head: “Campbell, you are making a mistake picking me for a comeback. I am 15-1 for reason: I’m that good. Sure I lost to Milly Brown, but, Campbell you are no Millie Bobby Brown. As near as I can tell you are .500 fighter and you’ve lost your last three fights. I think you have made a big mistake in coming after me.”
Danielle is now glaring at Olivia: “We’ll just about that,” she growls. Olivia just smile confidently.

Olivia seems to be ignoring the counters as he ow resumes her attack on DC’s jaw and cheekbones. Dani obliged to keep her mitts high but now Olivia is drumming those hooks against DC’s rib cage to finish the round.
R2: Danielle and Olivia are again out promptly at the bell, but this time it is Danielle striking first. She fires a series of quick right and left jabs against Olivia’s jaw. Then she clips Olivia hard to the chin with lightning strike uppercuts. Olivia falls back and DC moves forward to follow up, but Olivia suddenly punches back with a volley of jabs of her own. Dani struck to the face, jaw and side of the head. Now it is DC falling back and Olivia starting after her. However Dani lands a big right to Olivia’s jaw that breaks up the pursuit. DC now moving back in and striking at Olivia to the body. Olivia belated answers with body punches of her own. The two fighters are in fight and binging in the body punches to the bell. The round is close but Danielle Campbell pulls out the win on the judges’ cards.

KA-BOOM! Olivia is smote by Danielle’s biggest right to the jaw of the fight so far. Olivia stumbles to one side and Danielle manages to add another to right to the jaw AND DOWN GOES OLIVIA! Olivia on all fours, breathing hard as the sweat drips from her body, as Danielle looks down with a told-you-so look on her face. Then it is off to the neutral corner for DC and the referee starts counting. Olivia pulls herself together and rises (with effort) to break the count at “EIGHT!” Danielle looks disappointed but hops to it when referee signals her to come in. However, Olivia is not about to give Danielle any further opportunities in this round. Olivia buries her face in her gloves and hunches her body. Dani can only punch away at Olivia’s flanks as the round draws to a close. With the knockdown to her credit, Danielle Campbell has no trouble winning the round.

Referee is counting as the blasted DC can do little more than lift her head with a groggy look on her face.
“EIGHT!....NINE!...TEN!...YOU’RE OUT!”
THE WINNER OLIVIA RODRIGO KO5!
After: “I warned it was a mistake fighting me and you all saw what happened,” Olivia Rodrigo tells the press after the fight. “That knockdown in the 4th? Well, I never said she couldn’t punch. She got me that time, but I was tough enough to shake it off—and she wasn’t it. Well, it’s on to the next fight for me!”
“I had my chance in the 4th, but I couldn’t close it out. She came back and closed me out. That’s the simple facts,” Danielle Campbell says (the next day). “Sure I don’t like losing the fight, but I feel there was hope I my knockdown of Rodrigo. A little more power in my punches and she would have stayed down. I will remember that going forward and I definitely will be going forward.”
Lively contest while it lasted. Probably not a surprise that Olivia Rodrigo (15-1) was able to beat a fighter on a 3 fight losing streak, but Danielle Campbell came close to pulling off an upset with the R4 knockdown. That should gave Campbell and her fans for better nights to come in 2024. Meanwhile, Olivia and her fas can look forward to the possibility of exciting things to come in the new year. |
