Kelsey: 27 YO, 5’8 (1.73 m), 14-9-0 14 KO since 2021, Odds n’ Ends Fight Studio


Mary: 38 YO, 5’8 (1.73 m),76-59-0, 70 KO since 2007, Foxfire Boxing

Before: “I’m looking forward to this,” says Kelsey Merritt at the prefight presser, “Mary Winstead is a ‘legend’ to me. Sure, there are fighters with bigger records and more titles, but Mary is always such a tough fight. Plus I’ve lost to Taylor Swift, too, but I did beat her Foxfire stablemate Sophie Turner. I trust that has convinced Mary that I deserverespect as a fighter even though I a mere model.”

Mary Elizabeth Winstead smiles; “If you are trying to butter me up, that’s a pretty good way to do it. Oh, don’t fret about being a model, I m sue tolerant of them now, especially if they can beat me. I to think I am an obstacle eery would-be model boxing champion must pass in order to achieve her dream.”

“I’ll do what I can,” Kelsey said with a smile. “and I am hoping for the chance to Walk you when it is over.”

“You are a bold one, aren’t you? Lots of girls wanted to walk me and ended up with ME walking THEM,” Mary advised.

“It’s a chance I am willing to take,” Kelsey said.

“Then I will see you at the fight,” Mary said offering her hand.

“I’ll be there,” Kelsey said and shook the offered hand.

On the night of the fight, Kelsey Merritt comes to the ring in a shiny gray one piece swimsuit with KELSEY in white block better emblazoned across the front. She wears black gloves and boots with gray laces. Her hair is pulled back in battle braid. Mary isin one of her favorite ring outfits: a red retro one pieces with white polka dots, Mary wears red gloves and boots with white laces. Her bobbed hair is loose, but wetted down, The ring instructions proceed smoothly. The fighters touch their gloves and go to their corners. The bell rings.

R1: Mary bobbing and weaving as she comes in on Kelsey, then she strikes ringing blows on opposite sides of Kelsey’s head. Kelsey’s mitts shoot up to protect her head, but Mary able to rattle Kelsey with a sneaky right uppercut that gets into Kelsey’s chin behind her gloves. Kelsey swinging away from Mary, trying t set up a defensive jab screen, but Mary now getting Kelsey with digging hooks to her abs. Kelsey just trying to keep away from the ropes and avoiding a knockdown blow. Mary finishes with a hard punching attack on Kelsey’ right and left flank ribs. Bell sounds and ary has won the first stanza wide.

R2: Kelsey moving very quickly to start the new round and catches Mary coming in with a straight right to the forehead and a left to the jaw. Mary recoils and starts back but now Kelsey is banging hooks into Mary’s midsection stalling her counterattack. As Mary is trying to circle for position, Kelsey able to make lightning strike jabs into Mary’s jaw and Mary lurches to one side. Kelsey now pounding Mary’s left side, apparently trying to drive her into the ropes., Mary turns back and strikes Kelsey to the jaw. This buys Mary a little time, but then Kelsey is back on her with a pummeling series of body blows that have Mary huddled up at the bell. Round goes wide to Kelsey Merritt.

R3: Kelsey again out aggressively, but so is MEW and they have fiery exchange at center ring, At first it is Kelsey punching away at Mary to the head, but then Mary fights back with head shots of their own. They fight back and forth, sometimes going to the body, but mainly these are hitting the jaw, chin, cheekbones and side of the head. Then Mary shifts ears and startles Kelsey with a concentrated series of hooks to the belly. Suddenly Kelsey is gasping for air and looking uncertain. Then May strikes to the chin with blasting uppercuts to the chin AND KESEY”S FEET FLY OUT FROM UNDER HDER! DOWN ON BACK GOES KELSEY MERRITT! Mary heads for the neutral core r. Kelsey trying to regain her senses as the referee counts and she makes it up just I time to break the count at “NINE!” Fight resumes, but Kelsey goes turtle and give Mary nothing for what little is left in the round. Thanks to the knockout, Mary Winstead wins round wide.

R4: Urgent work in the O & E corner as Kelsey slumps wearily on her stool. Their hard work pays off as Mary is reasonably steady in coming out for the new round. Mary approaching with a determined look, clearly she is out to finish the job, However Kelsey cracks a hard right off Mary’s jaw and an equally hard left uppercut to the chin. Suddenly Mary’s leg rubbery legs and is stumbling back. A resurgent Kelsey is now punching clean, hard strokes to the body and head, Mary fighting back with counters of her own, but they aren’t slowing Kelsey down. Mary is being driven slowly towards the ropes and only the bell saves her from being pinned there. Kelsey Merritt comes back strng and wins this round wide.

R5: Now it is te Fxfire corner doing urgent damage control to their battered fighter. Mary showing her recuperative powers as she comes out strong off her stool. Mary duels with Kelsey in another exchange of head shots, but this time, it is Mary’s chin and jaw work that are the more effective, Kelsey is retreating with her gloves up high. Mary now going to Kelsey’s torso and pumping in the deep, damaging hooks that push a gasp and shuddering Kelsey into the ropes. Kelsey manages to take a seat and bur her face in her gloves, Mary now working away at Kelsey’s vulnerable torso in a though breast to belly beating. Kelsey just hanging there, taking the bombardment to the bell. At the bell, Kelsey pulls herself off the ring, but hods her head up as she tries to march to her corner, but her ovements show she is hurting. Mary departs for her stool. She’s won the round wide,

R6: Again the O & E crew is out to the test and again they are able to get their fighter out for the next round. Kelsey is showing stiffness early on, but gets her dukes up as Mary comes in on her, Kelsey now using her gloves to try to block and blunt Mary’s punches. Mary circling and counter circling and gets Kelsey off balance enough to land some good blows to the head and chin. Then Kelsey seems to see opportunity of her own and as Mary starts in again, Kelsey bangs MEW with an explosive left off the chin. Mary is caught flush and stumbles sideways. Kelsey now attacks Mary to the left side and driven her right side into the ropes. Mary shielding her head as Kelsey pounds away, Mary sliding along the ropes, but Kelsey staying with her keeping on the pressure. Mary comes to a stop just as the bell rings. Kelsey walks away with a big smile knowing she hs won the round wide. Now Mary is the one aking her way slowly to her corner.

R7: Foxfire crew springs into action. Mary looking shell shocked but jumps to her feet at the bell and heads for Kelsey. Kelsey watching Mary’s approach warily for tricks. Kelsey makes some quick moves to Mary’s midsection. Mary reacts but not quite as fast as earlier. Now Kelsey ups her punch rate, alternating between head and punching. Mary’s reacts look jjust a little slow. Kelsey makes an apparent fresh attack on Mary to the ribs and Mary’s trying to counter with rib shots of her own, but in doing this Mary’s chin is unguarded. Kelsey strikes like a cobra with one rapid-fire uppercut after another. Then she adds right/lefts to the jaw AND MARY CRASHES ONTO HER SIDE!! Kelsey scooting off to the neutral corner as referee starts to count. Mary pushing herself up off the canvas and then into a crouching position. The count is rising apidly as she tries to stand but topples on to her backside. She tries again, but it is too late:

“NINE!...TEN!...OUT!” cries the referee.

Mary now erect but has to to be held up by the official As Kelsey Merritt raises her arms in triumph!

THE WINNER KELSEY MERRITT DEFESATS MARY ELIZABDETH WINSTEAD KO7

After: Kelsey is congratulated by her O&E teammates, but she keeps a close on the Foxfire corner where Mary is being checked out. Kelsey catches a “high sign” from Mary so she knows to come over.

“Ready to go?” Kelsey asks helping Mary to stand.

“AS ready as I can be tonight. You got me good. You should have the pleasure of showing me off to the fans, but you better keep your arm around me. I am still a little weak in the knees.” Says a game Mary.

Kelsey obliging outs a supportive arm around Mary’s waist and then the two take a tour of the ring, Mary insists they stop for fan photos several times before they complete the circuit., They then hug and Kelsey goes to rejoin her teammates.
Quite a back and forth battle. Kelsey Merritt proved she can take a pounding and come back hard in the next round. A very good win for her against one of the tougher fighters in the FCBA. Mary’s not one to brood over her losses and word is she is already talking about her annual “Santa-kini” bout at the December PPV
