Maddie Ziegler
(21, 5’5, 17:5 FCBA, The Dollhouse) vs. Cree Cicchino (21, 5’3, 42:16 FCBA, IBB)
Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse
BEFORE: "I actually was hoping to be fighting Avril tonight, but she was too scared of accepting my challenge,” Cree says with a knowing grin, before continuing. “guess she doesn't want another young Latina kicking her ass after Cierra beat her to a literal pulp last month. So I guess in the meantime I'll beat up her overrated dancer stablemate… again.” Cree punctuates the mic-drop silence with an eye roll, but then adds, “Maddie is not in my league, never was, never will be - her size is the only thing she's got going for her tonight...but it didn't help her much last time, didn’t it?"
Cree is of course referring to their match earlier this year in March, with both girls going to war and the fiery Latina picking up the win in a TKO6 victory. And while most of Cicchino’s speech was focused on her growing pains with the Queen of the Dollhouse herself, Maddie Ziegler looks incensed from across the press table, partially at being ignored, partially by not being treated as a stepping stone for her opponent tonight to fight her own stablemate.
“Cree got me last time but if she thinks tonight's going to be the same she's dead wrong,” Maddie says with a nod. “She is very beatable, she’s been beaten 5 times this year including getting knocked out by Ariana Grande in her first win in 8 years on top of losing twice to Millie...who I just beat a while ago. I think I'm better than Cree and I can't wait to prove it tonight.” There’s definitely a twinge of regret in the latest Doll’s voice, especially when listing off some of Cree’s prior opponents, and to Maddie, tonight’s rematch is going to be redemption that that earlier loss this year was nothing but a fluke.
Ziegler still sporting that two-inch height advantage when the two 21-year-olds meet in the center of the stage, puffing out chests, chins upturned, smirks on their lips. Everyone thought that Cree wouldn’t be able to outbox her taller foe last time, but the Italians Boxing Better starlet certainly proved them wrong. The two ladies separate after striking a cocky pose towards one another, and they head backstage for their final prep.
A day later, they face each other again from opposite ends of the ring - Ziegler is wearing her lime yellow sports bra and neon blue long tights, white gloves, her dirty blonde hair tied into a tight bouncing ponytail as she jumps up and down in her corner. In the other corner, Miss Cicchino is sporting a dark amber bikini top and short white shorts, with black gloves on either hand. There’s the wave of the referee’s hand, and HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!
ROUND 1: Maddie is lookig hot as usual, both physically and metaphorically, confidently striding into the center with both arms up, looking ready to brawl. She’s set on one purpose and one purpose alone: score her revenge and perhaps show up the Queen of the Dollhouse herself in rising above the Flyweight pecking order. Early jabs from Maddie are thrown with purpose and semi-power: puh puh puh as they target the shorter Cree’s head, showing she means business and isn’t about to let the same mistakes happen again. Cree finds it much harder, much earlier to circumvent those jabs, rob inwards to pummel the body, her vision filled with a barrage and flurry of lefts and rights, Maddie not letting up the pressure in order to keep the IBB starlet on the periphery. She knows that Cicchino can do damage up close especially with her compact frame - that’s how she got put away the last time, but not this, Ziegler vows. Several fast hands slam into the Italian girl’s forehead and chin, Cree growling with growing frustration as the damage adds up early. But Cicchino does manage to score some nasty overhands back in the final minute, soaking up damage to her face but ignoring it, then plowing a big right hand to the chest and body to at least do SOME damage by the bell. Big round for Ziegler to start, who shows off her expert control and the lessons she’s learnt so far.
ROUND 2: Cree is’t giving up the chase, however, keeps swerving in and swinging away, wide lefts and rights sailing at Maddie and putting her even further on the defensive. Maddie can jab all she likes at Cree’s frame but if her punches aren’t slowing the IBB girl down, it’s gonna be trouble in the long run. Cree still bubbling and overflowing with energy, her face getting scrunched up or shocked to the side, grunts flowing like sweet honey from her lips, but she’s STILL rushing in and landing punishing shots off Maddie’s lean torso, Maddie either too slow to back away or not expecting this level of energy from the shorter girl. It’s her loss, literally, as Cicchino rips in another right hook to impact the side stomach, another left swing almost taking her head off if it wasn’t for Ziegler’s fast reactions to swerve backwards at the last second on instinct. Final minute sees both of them dancing back and forth, Maddie having to reevaluate her strategy and perhaps put more power behind her punches in order to dissuade and desist. But doing so might leave her more open to Cree’s attacks. Decisions, decisions. Round ends with Cicchino letting out a roar of triumph of her own, and a rapid string of insults in her native tongue. No one really knows what she’s saying to Maddie, but it’s definitely nothing good…
ROUND 3: And here Cree comes, parts of her face red-cheeked and still-fuming, but knows that she’s got Maddie on the defensive now and wants to capitalize… She shows off her speed for someone her size, coming in hot like a cannonball fired from a barrel, immediately pouding on Ziegler’s arms the moment she gets in range. Screw those errant jabs coming in the other way from the Dollhouse blonde, she says, as Maddie’s return fire doesn’t give her pause. Ziegler tries to move fast and with purpose, skirting the ropes and not allowing herself to get pinned against them, in the meantime forced to cover up and swerve like the wind, unless she takes one of those nasty swings to the head and goes down a second time. To her credit, she looks as though she’s been working on those defense drills in the gym, her movements fluid and angled just right, moving her head to dodge another big right hand from Cicchino. Cree is all too happy though to score off the Doll’s body, exploiting her foe’s openings to pound and pummel that lean waistline, earning some shocked gasps from Maddie’s lips as she gets further pushed around. Definitely not the best round or result for Ziegler, but at least she manages to stay upright and on her feet by the bell. Widest round for Cicchino so far, and from that smile on her face, it’s as though expending all that energy was well worth it…
ROUND 4: Ziegler gets good advice from her corner during the downtime, nodding fervently and catching her breath, getting dunked with a bucket of cold water to shake off those red welts all over her body. The Doll’s here to fight and win, and needs to do more to counter Cicchino’s strengths. Bell rings and Cree, still looking like a million dollars, that smirk hiding behind her raised gloves as she makes another bull rush towards Maddie, hoping to plant her face to canvas this round. But that expression turns on a dime once Maddie meets her center court, bobs and weaves around another big, lumberous swing, before planting an overhand of her own right between the Italian girl’s eyes! OUCH! Cree swaying for a microsecond, her eyes squinted shut and mouth hanging open, but she quickly rights her ship and swings again, perhaps on pure instinct! Wild BRAWL erupts in the center of the ring as both girls punish each other silly, Cree taking the worst of it as her punches connects with Maddie’s guard mostly, whilst the huffing and puffing blonde targets her foe’s face with swiping lefts and rights across the cheek and jawline, before pummeling an uppercut into the base of her chin for good measure! And Cree is the one getting pushed back! She’s forced to defend herself for the rest of the round, still taking the odd swing at Maddie’s head in the interim, but finding it difficult to counter the Doll’s countering, with Maddie’s renewed focus and agility allowing her to slip past her attacks! By the time the bell rings, the tide has turned in this fight, and though both ladies can boast to be equals in terms of points scored, things are not boding well for Cicchino’s second win!
ROUND 5: Round 5 and both girls are already breathing hard, coming off their stools and looking to take the fight to the next level. They circle more warily for the first few seconds, and it’s considered a success on its own for the Dollhouse corner, with Cree looking more hesitant and unwilling to rush in to pressure their girl. This leaves Maddie with more breathing room and opportunities to do what she does best: jab and cross at the shorter girl’s head and body, skirting left and right and pounding away at her frame without much danger in turn. Maddie looks like a stuck rock in the face of the incoming torrent, all she can do is raise and lower her guard in anticipation of each wave of attack, but Maddie’s too seasoned for that at this point, the Dollhouse girl knowing how to feint high before plugging a brutal cross into her stomach, or do the opposite, lunging for her ribs before tagging her off the eye with a nice rising hook. The odds for Cicchino continue to deteriorate this round, and her limited counterattacks are again without much venom. Bell rings and Maddie’s sporting a wide smile, knows she’s got the fight in the bag if she can maintain her advantageous position.
ROUND 6: First minute and Cree shows that same hesitation, sticking close to her corner and ropes, not letting herself get pushed back but holding her ground with a firm defense of locked arms over her face. It gives the signal to Maddie, however, that her opponent is running out of steam and ready to go down. And from the outside, it sure looks that way: Cree barely stepping from her corner, heaving hard, about as juicy a cornered target as one would expect. First several flurries to the arms and body do land, as Maddie wades in with more energy, eager to pummel and run away with points. But the first sign of trouble as the Doll’s head whipped to the side by a sudden, out-of-nowhere return hook that she barely intercepts with a raised arm, Cree suddenly springing out of hibernation and returning fire. Maddie’s done her dirty work for her, getting in too close and now in the killzone for her to execute. Suddenly, Ziegler finds herself in a fight for her life, getting thrown awkwardly to the side by more powerful hooks that make landfall across her head and body, and backing away too slowly, for HERE CICCHINO COMES, playing possum and only now springing her trap! She ROARS forward, determined to not let Ziegler get away with murder! A couple more bang bang BANGS to the head prove TOO MUCH for the Doll, who gets KNOCKED off her feet by a fourth hook to the noggin’, and DOWN SHE GOES, crashing to the canvas with a groan and a loud THUD!! SHOCK comeback of a KNOCKDOWN, and all the pundits in the crowd are wondering how this fight might end!
Referee is over and towering as he starts his count, with Maddie still clutching her head in pain as she rolls about on her back, whilst Cree Cicchino pumps her fists and roars to the crowd on all sides of the ring, at one point even shouting Miss Lavigne’s name to the rafters. Her confidence is at an all-time high, sporting a big grin on her face as she rests her back against the turnbuckle, belly pounding with exhilaration.
5… 6… Maddie is pushing herself upwards, no doubt encouraged by the chanting of the crowd and her own corner shouting at her from the apron. The newest Doll on the roster has proved her worth time and time again, and that’s what’s driving her to not lose this rematch. She manages to steady herself on her feet by the count of 8, though she still looks hella shaken. Thankfully, there’s only a few seconds left on the clock, so the bell rings right after the referee clears her to continue. Looks like Cicchino will need another round to put her away!
ROUND 7: Cree’s still spouting Italian vulgarities as she comes out of the corner, as fast and fiery as her punches. She’s the first to crunch an overhand right into Maddie’s arms, determined to resume exactly where she left off in the last round. Maddie looks like in defensive mode for the first thirty seconds, locking arms and keeping her feet moving. She takes a couple of power smacks to the midsection but it’s nothing that’s not unanticipated, the blonde fighter bracing her abs to absorb the blows, and slowly whittling away Cree’s energy reserves with the odd slam of a jab to the Italian girl’s face. By minute two, Cicchino’s facade has turned 180 - she’s finding Maddie a stubborn customer who’s not willing to go down a second time. Instead, Maddie’s the one punching back with more frequency, targeting her vulnerable face with sudden flurries that sting the nose and bunch up the cheek. One more left-right combo sinks straight into her chin next, staggering the shorter brunette with a loud gasp. Maddie is still being methodical, keeping her distance and slapping leather away at face and body, body and face, finally throwing a beauty of a right hand that lands right between the eyes! OUCH!! Cree lets out a grunt as she goes barreling backwards, arms flying in disarray, trying her best to steady her ship. It’s the signal for Ziegler to strike! A mighty step-in jab is followed by a right cross that SLAMS in hard, snapping the Italian girl’s head backwards as it penetrates straight through her guard! DOWN CICCHINO GOES, getting flattened to her back after semi-bouncing into the ropes, which speeds her descent with a loud THUD!! Wows! Back-to-back knockdowns from these two beauties, who absolutely can’t stand the sight of each other still standing!
Maddie raises a tired arm and sports a little smile on the sides of her mouth, but clearly looks relieved that her persistence has paid off. She’s led to the neutral corner and leans back, throwing her head upwards and grateful for the opportunity at a breather. She’s met Cree’s offense blow-for-blow, and her prospects of actually winning this thing continue to improve. Meanwhile, Cicchino is BARELY STIRRING besides a little turn of her head left and right, her eyes still squeezed shut and chest rising and falling with the growing tide of the referee’s numbers. The IBB fans in the audience perhaps wanted their fighter to get the f*ck back up and go the last three rounds to make this a fight-of-the-year contender, but unfortunately, Cree looks absolutely blasted into kingdom come! Referee shouts the final count of “10!!!” in the air and WAVES it off! It’s OVER, folks!!
Official Result: Maddie Ziegler defeats Cree Cicchino via KO7!
AFTER: The fans are beside themselves as Ziegler pulls off a huge come from behind win, flooring the IBB superstar for good after a quick recovery from getting knocked down in the 6th. The ecstatic blonde spends a few long moments hugging her team and jumping up and down, before speaking to reporters while trying to catch her breath. “Cree is very tough… and she hits hard, really hard. She’s always a dangerous opponent. I’m glad I was able to beat her tonight…this is huge for me. I really wanted it!. I think I’ve proven I belong at the top and I plan to stay there for a very very long time!.” Maddie smirks to the cameras, waving to the fans as she makes her way out of the ring and exits the arena with another win, her 4th back to back win over the young elite of the flyweight division, with Ciccihino’s name being added to the likes of Ortega and Bobby Brown as recent victims of the ‘Mad Dog’.
Speaking of Cicchino, she’s been left behind to fend for herself by Ziegler, the IBB girl being helped up to her feet shortly after and getting a standing ovation from her own fans as she slowly makes her way out of the ring, looking as frustrated as we’ve seen her…
But Cree is a tough competitor, and the young brunette is surely already thinking of her and Maddie Ziegler’s possible future epic rubber match. After tonight’s fight - we do too! |
