Intro:
Third bout of tonight as we see which of these two so far undefeated fighters in the Diamond Boxing Tournament see who can take a step closer to the trophy. While the other faces an uphill battle to win it. Iskra Lawrence started her campaign by defeating Daphne Groenevald in five rounds. Ireland Baldwin beat Elizabeth Turner in five rounds to start her own campaign.
As with each fight of the tournament, a room was set up with white walls, a camera and a stool in. This is where the fighters could give their thoughts for fans to see on the FCBA Network.
First on the hot seat was Iskra. She wore a white blouse with black jeans and heels. Grinning as she says "so another big girl stands in my way. I don't care how tall Ireland is. I don't care how big or strong any of these other women think they are. I am here to prove I am the new alpha force running through the welterweight division." Flexing her right arm as if to prove her point. Keeping it short and sweet as she winks to the camera before she leaves.
Ireland meanwhile walks into the room wearing a white dress with black heels and sunglasses on. She sits down with hands on her hips. Telling the camera "I showed against Elizabeth what I can do. Iskra is just some fat slob from the UK that will learn soon enough not to play with the real big girls." Not exactly showing much respect to her opponent as she shakes her head.
Fight night in San Antonio's Alamodome. First to appear on the aisle is Iskra with her coach behind her. She taps her cheeks before she begins her walk with her white gloves. Black sports bra with white trim, matching trunks and shoes, her hair is in a braid as she steps foot into the ring. Blowing a few kisses to the fans before she starts stretching to keep loose.
Here comes Ireland wearing an emerald green sports bra. Emerald green sports bra with gold trim, matching shoes and trunks, as her hair is in a ponytail. She climbs into the ring with eyes firmly on Iskra. Stretching herself as she can be seen mouthing "you are going down" to her foe.
Brought to the center of the ring by the referee. Both women stare hard at each other. Ireland of course looking down at the smaller woman with disdain. They touch gloves with a crack of leather ringing out. Jogging back to their corners as the crowd looks hyped to see this heavy handed clash. The bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1:
Two big girls hitting it out here as not much movement on their toes. Drilling in stiff single punches to start. Several punches landing around the others cheeks. Iskra stepping in two whack in several body punches before she she pushed back to the outside. Eyes drilling through their opponent as they move around the ring.
Ireland is the one to land the first big punch after stuffing a jab square into the face of her foe. A right hook then lands on the ear of Iskra. Who groans out as she backs off. Ireland holding the center of the ring as she throws at the head of Iskra. With the smaller woman shelling up. Ireland sticking several punches into the chest of Iskra as she looks to open her up.
Less then a minute to go. Iskra is landing more punches out her guard to show her fighting spirit. Ireland though is still landing the more solid punches. With her reach advantage proving a problem for Lawrence. The round ends with Baldwin tapping her gloves together. Looking fired up tonight.
Round 2:
Back out they come with Iskra realising she needs to press quickly. Dipping down to get in closer under Ireland's punches. Banging away around the torso of the taller woman. Lawrence when landing around the jugs of Baldwin to make her groan out.
Using her left glove to push at the forehead of Iskra. Ireland lands a solid short right to the cheek of her foe. Both women fighting at midrange. Thudding punches can be heard when they land flush. Iskra still landing around the abs of Ireland to make her back up.
Throwing more double jabs in the final moments of the round. Ireland is moving around the outside part of the ring, trying to keep back her opponent. An overhand left though lands on the jaw of Ireland to turn her head. Last seconds of the round sees Ireland now on the ropes as Iskra hooks away to the body. The round coming to an end with Iskra yelling "come on!" As she returns to her stool. Showing she is here to take the fight to Ireland. With both women getting told off their coaches to step it up as this could prove a key victory for their tournament hopes.
Round 3:
Pushing back off their stools to resume. Iskra again looking to bully back her taller foe. Use her lower center of gravity to swing in powerful punches around the body and hips of Ireland. Who grits her mouthpiece to try not to let any signs of pain out. Landing several punches to the side of her opponents head to make Iskra back off.
A double jab snaps back Iskra's head. Being pushed back across the ring as now Ireland uses her strength to knock back the Brit. Ireland ramming in punches around the chest and forehead of Iskra. Who clinches up with Ireland. The referee struggling to get the powerful women apart. once apart they lock eyes and stab in single punches when they resume.
Overhand left from Iskra lands on the jaw of her opponent. Ireland needing to have to think about that shot. With Iskra powering back Ireland to the ropes. Digging away at her stomach as Ireland tries to cover up. Needing to clinch up again. The bell rings with both moving away from each other. Staring hard at their opponent before going to their stools to get cleaned up.
Round 4:
Doubling up her jab earlier in the round. Ireland is making it a little harder for Iskra to move inside. Both digging their toes in as they trade shots. Things getting scruffy when Iskra tries to force her way in. Bumping chests as they are in close swinging away.
Pushing back Iskra with a two handed shove to her chest. Ireland then lands a left hook around the temple of her opponent to turn her head. Iskra groans loudly as her eyes shut. Ireland rams in a straight to the face of the British fighter. Iskra finding herself knocked into a neutral corner. Shelling up as Ireland swinging in hooks.
Using her own left to shove at Ireland to try to get out the corner. Still though Lawrence is finding herself being bullied around the ring. Ireland looks to have stepped up a gear. The round comes to a close with Iskra having red marks around her cheeks. Ireland getting sweat wiped off her brow. With both women scowling at each other.
Round 5:
Exchanging around the center of the ring. Ireland lands a straight into the center of Iskra's face to knock her onto her heels. A LEFT HOOK LANDS TO THE CHIN OF ISKRA. HER EYES SHUT AS SHE HITS THE DECK WITH A THUD! THE REFEREE CHECKS AND WAVES THE FIGHT OFF! SHE IS OUT COLD!

After:
What a punch! Ireland placing her right foot on the chest of Iskra. Roaring "that's what they'll all get!" Arms flexed as a warning to all her opponents. Making a statement here tonight that her intentions to win it all are true. Returning to her corner to be met with a fist bump by her proud looking coach.
While Iskra needs smelling salts placed under her nose to stir her awake. Iskra groaning as she kicks the canvas with her right foot. Needing help up but she stumbles. Showing her legs are still jelly. With her coach helping her out the ring.
Iskra still has the win on her record. So she can still easily win the entire tournament. Still with two losses now back to back. It will be interesting to see if she can pull it back around. Her power is still going to be a big factor in the tournament.
While inside the ring Ireland gets her right hand raised in victory. Putting her arms out to her sides as she looks at the camera. Yelling "bring them all on! I will knock them all out the same way!" Kissing her right bicep. Full of confidence as she is winning back to back now after being inconsistent.
Climbing out the ring. Ireland walks to the back with her arms in the air. Enjoying the spotlight on her as she might be proof that the new breed of tall, powerful Welterweight fighters might be the ones to rule the division the next decade if she wins this tournament. |
