Nina Dobrev vs Alyssa Lynch

(Lioness Club of America vs VIXENs)
(64-34-1, 56 KO vs 48-22, 48 KO)
Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago

BEFORE: Tonight's Main Event is ready to commence with Nina Dobrev celebrating her 34th birthday and about to enter the FCBA ring for 100th time in the process. If there's one person who can spoil the double anniversary look no further than Alyssa Lynch who might come off a painful Body Saddle loss to Hunter King but she vows to take a best of three rubber match at Dobrev's expense anyway: "Nina has skated on her reputation for way too long here. Laura (Vandervoort) couldn't shut her down so it's my responsibility to prove she's simply overrated. The CW isn't the top of the world anymore, witch!" (winks)

Nina's former Lookout! Boxing stablemate Elisha Cuthbert serves as the special referee and Erin Andrews wonders if this is Canada Day PPV or a simple coincidence? The birthday girl walks down the aisle in delay mode, taking selfies with as many fans as she can which leaves Lynch hanging in the ring. The wait is over after more than five minutes and the VIX brunette looks upset by having to witness this "all eyes on me" entrance but we're finally ready for the opening bell any second now...

Nina Dobrev wears a red bikini set & black gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a custom ponytail. Alyssa Lynch wears a black bikini set & red gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a braid. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Alyssa gets off to a better start as if the recent Hunter King loss has actually worked in her favor; she overruns Nina from the inside and connects with her jaw before dropping a left hook on the eye and wobbling the birthday girl onto her heels. Nina swings for the overhand response but Alyssa keeps her covered and lands more quick shots from the inside finding easy connection with the exposed chin. Ugh! Perhaps Nina started the birthday celebrations few days in advance since she suddenly looks awfully hittable and gets pounded back to the ropes where Lynch drives in more leather on target to slump the older brunette behind a tight earmuff come the bell. Woof. That's not what the Lioness entourage expected to see and it somehow gets even worse in...

Round 2:
...when Alyssa connects with another superior uppercut series during the opening minute. Nina gets stuffed on her heels but avoids a proper power punch even though the younger Canadian tries her hardest to deliver the shot. A clash of heads slows the action down but Alyssa recovers first to find her groove and she thumps the CW legend from each side again to raise more noise around the Rogers Centre. Methodical striking leaves Lynch on top in the second minute as she buries the lacklustre Dobrev behind a tight earmuff on the ropes and drills her to the body thereafter forcing a panic reaction from LCA coach Eva Mendes at the bell. Meanwhile it's all smiles in the VIX corner and even ref Cuthbert gives them a reluctant thumbs up.

Rounds 3 & 4:
Nina roars back into contention when she finally beats the younger brunette for the initial punch and carries more leather straight into her face in classic point-blank range exchange. Alyssa thinks she can still dominate the birthday girl but eats a heavy one-liner on the chin that wobbles her backwards and Nina plugs her in the solar plexus to gain additional advantage. A messy exchange in the center of the ring follows but Nina remains on top thanks to another quick hook on the chin. Alyssa refuses to back off for her own sake and seeks another dominant series but Dobrev kicks into a higher gear and drops one menacing punch after another. More of the same in the fourth where Nina packs the mean punch with superior intensity and wobbles Lynch with a scything cross on the mouth before a looping double on the eye cuts the younger brunette up on the spot. It's only then that Alyssa thinks better off it but she's unable to make any progress in counter-punching drill and ends up blasted back to the turnbuckle as Nina pulls even on the scorecards.

Round 5:
Furious response from the VIX entourage and Alyssa regains the early slugging mojo picking off Nina up the middle. The slugging approach benefits both women as much as the crowd until Alyssa drives a left hook on the jaw to make the birthday girl wince in pain. Still Nina tries to step into her response but Lynch simply gets there first and floats a one-two combo on each temple before a wild right hook tags the jaw AND DROPS DOBREV onto her back amid a loud cheer from the Vancouver section of the crowd! Uh-oh! Alyssa could spoil the party after all as she twerks her booty in the VIX corner while Nina makes a desperate effort to beat the count. She avoids a total disaster and gets up at eight however it's all Lynch for remainder of the round and the Lioness fighter has to yield real estate unable to do anything about the slugging attack. Alyssa thumps her with more precision thereafter and bundles her over to the ropes where she works the head-hunting connection until Elisha Cuthbert pulls her away at the bell.

Round 6:
Alyssa is ready to shut Nina's coffin here in the sixth but she fails to find that one KO series and has to fend off a furious response over the top as Dobrev realizes she's on the verge of a massive PR fumble at the worst possible moment. She drives in more body shots to keep Lynch in mid-distance before a powerful left hook slams the Vancouver native on the chin. Alyssa still digs her heels to avoid a sudden retreat but she bounces off the top of Nina's forehead and wobbles forward to meet a brutal uppercut on the jaw again that gives the birthday girl extra life. Dobrev cleans up shop from the inside and tags her opponent's jugs for a good measure; Lynch swings for the fences from the back foot and slices thin air while the Lioness brunette cracks more leather right up the middle and pounds the hitherto dominant Vixen onto the ropes. Alyssa avoids the ultimate payback but Nina still works her to the body in the final minute to gain a much-needed confidence boost.

Round 7:
Nina catches more wind in her sails as the Rogers crowd gets behind her and cheers on when she splits Alyssa's high guard to connect with her face. The younger brunette tries to stay in the slugging lane despite a wide lead on the cards and it comes back to haunt her when Dobrev cuts her up across the nasal ridge before a booming right hook nails her on the ear. Ugh! She spins to the side and slumps on jelly knees just as Nina steps into a vicious right hook on the jaw that SENDS LYNCH FLYING ONTO THE CANVAS in deadmeat fashion! Uh-oh! Someone got smoked here and the VIX corner cannot believe what just happened. It's curtains for Alyssa who opens the 2023 season with two losses on the bounce! Happy frickin' 34th birthday Nina Dobrev who celebrates the milestone ton with a KO7 victory!!!

AFTER: Elisha Cuthbert is the first one to hug the victorious birthday girl who is soon joined by Eva Mendes, Selena Gomez, special guest Julianne Hough and company. Just don't step on the unconscious Alyssa, okay? The VIX entourage is shocked enough they don't even argue about Elisha's referee performance that was fairly lenient overall and the big question is where the Vancouver stunner goes from here? But that's the last thing on the Lionesses mind as they carry Nina on their shoulders and we have open afterparty for everyone with a special VIP pass. There's only one time you can reach the Hall of Fame threshold and Nina accomplished this feat in vintage come-from-behind fashion for the ages. Let Demi Lovato seethe over in the corner! The party goes on late into the morning hours and the LCA confirms Nina will return to the ring much sooner than anyone expected with a special overseas opponent having signed on the dotted line already.

Official Result: Nina Dobrev def. Alyssa Lynch KO7.
