Intro:
Two women with nearly two decades of experience and yet they have never stepped into the ring against each other. Both Rachel McAdams and Michelle Rodriguez want the cougar title held by Kim Kardashian. Who will move a step closer to that target?

Before the contest both were asked for a few words in the press. Rachel spoke to the media outside the Foxfire Boxing gym. Wearing a pink long coat, black boots and jeans. Rachel is sipping on a hot drink as she jokes "it's definitely winter boys" with a wink, getting a few chuckles from journalists braving the cold themselves.

Rachel then seriously says "so Michelle is on quite the run lately. I have heard her calling out the cougar champion and that laser focus is something to worry about. Especially that Michelle is a heavy hitter when she gets going. I am going to prove that I have the better technician in the ring and I'd love to add some more gold around my waist." She walks into the gym after raising her drink to the journalists with a smile.

Michelle meanwhile is training at "Gotham" boxing gym in New York as she has set up camp there ready to fight in Madison Square Garden. Michelle finishes up a hard sparring session with a local female fighter. Both share a fist bump before Michelle steps out the ring. Getting a quick drink after removing her black gloves.

"Keep on building guys, that's all I am focused on. One fight at a time and getting wins so I can get my title shot." Says Michelle as she flexes her left arm while taking another drink to show she is in great shape for this fight.

She then adds "Rachel is a great talent. I have always wondered whether I could have beaten her and now we will find out. I feel like I am on the right road, well beating Rachel would prove I am." Showing how important this is to her.

Fight night! First out is Rachel with her coach Virginia Madsen to her left. Rachel blowing a few kisses to the crowd as she looks in good spirits. She steps into the ring wearing a white sports bra, white trunks with red trim, matching shoes, red gloves and her hair is tied into a ponytail. Rachel bouncing on her toes as she waits for her foe.

Michelle heads onto the stage now with her coach following. Michelle banging her black gloves together as she goes with her black sports bra, black trunks and boots, hair is braided. Michelle climbs into the ring with an intense look on her face as she paces on her hips.

Brought to the center of the ring by the referee, both women stare each other down. Once the instructions are done, both touch gloves with their opponent before walking back over to their corners. The bell rings to start 10 rounds of bantamweight action.

Round 1:
Pushing off their stools ready to fight. Rachel is looking to use her jab and footwork early to keep back Michelle, who is after landing a big hook right away from behind her own jab. It's the movement of McAdams taking the early lead in the round, stabbing her jab into the chest and sometimes face of Michelle when she can slice through the guard. Adding a few more straight punches as she relaxes.

That's till Michelle can slip a jab to hammer in a left hook to the cheek of Rachel. The Canadian beauty soon finds herself pinned back into a neutral corner as Michelle bided her time till she had a chance to do this. Rachel finding out why Rodriguez is such a fearsome fighter as she is swinging around the guard of Rachel to her ribs and face. Rachel needing to grab hold of Michelle to slow her down.

Split apart and allowed to fight on. Michelle has certainly taken some of the wind out the sails of her opponent. Keeping in closer to work away as she targets the body predominantly. Rachel needing to nudge off the rough Rodriguez and land more combos to try to hold her off. The bell dings with Michelle banging her gloves together as she heads to the corner, fired up for this one.

Round 2:
Michelle is keeping in closer as she looks to keep the heat on her opponent. Rachel needing to open up more then to try to hold off her opponent. Both fighters trading in close with cracks of leather landing on flesh. Rachel being drawn into Michelle's type of fight with an uppercut knocking her head back. Pressing back Rachel back onto the ropes with hooks flying again.

Pushing Michelle off her, Rachel starts using more two punch combos into the face of her foe. Michelle has marks forming on her cheeks but she is keeping on the front foot. She crouches down and hammers a right into the stomach of McAdams to make her hiss out with a follow up left hook over the top on the jaw of the blonde to twist her head.

Crowding Rachel onto the ropes. Michelle has the Foxfire fighter shelling up. So far this fight is going the way Rodriguez wanted as she is roughing up her opponent. Rachel needing to grab onto her to slow her down. The round ends with both women walking back to their corners with icy stares being exchanged on their stools.

Round 3:
Rachel is told by Virginia to not do what Michelle wants her to. Mixing up her attacks more as she steps in at times to land before going back out as hooks come back her way. Rachel then landing a double jab into the face of her foe at times when Michelle comes at her.

Using her left forearm; Michelle is able to press Rachel to the ropes, hammering in short body shots to make Rachel hiss out. Rachel holds the right arm of Michelle as she slings in short hooks to her face. Referee warning Rachel to keep it clean as she shows her teeth. Michelle quick when they resume to get back in the face of her opponent.

Not long left in the round and Michelle gets to caught out with an uppercut to her chin to knock her head back. Rachel showing why she is dangerous in her own right with a flurry of punches coming to push back Michelle several steps onto the ropes. Michelle shelling up now just before the bell rings to end the round. The fighters lock eyes before walking back to their corners with both women wanting this badly. The cougars title clearly on their minds.

Round 4:
Off they go again with Michelle looking to get back right into the grill of Rachel, pounding away at the torso of her foe. Rachel nudging back Michelle before peppering her face with straight shots. Both trying to enforce their will on the fight as the thuds of leather on flesh rings out.

Michelle lands a left hook to the cheek of Rachel, a straight follows as she muscles back the blonde to the ropes. Rachel growling out as she gets hit around her torso. Rachel needing to pull Michelle into a tight clinch to force the referee to step in. Once apart Rachel is back in space.

Less then a minute to go; Rachel sidesteps a left hook from Michelle and pounds in a left hook around the back of her ear. Rachel backs up Michelle now into a corner with her punches landing through to the face of Michelle. The round ends with both women marching back to their corners. They look frustrated with each other after a round where both could argue they won it.

Round 5:
Resuming with eyes locked behind their guards. Michelle is looking a little overly keen to engage, Rachel pivots out the way of a right cross and lands a hard right hook to the ear of Michelle. Who stumbles two steps to her right. RACHEL IS ON HER IN A FLASH THROWING THE KITCHEN SINK AT HER WITH HARD SHOTS! A RIGHT CROSS SENDS MICHELLE ONTO HER BACK!

There's swelling on the left eye of Michelle as she stares at the lights. Rachel standing in the neutral corner with a nod to Virginia. 1....2....3....4... Michelle showing her toughness to turn around to her front and crawl towards the ropes. 5....6....7... Michelle is dragging herself up using the ropes. 8....9. Michelle is up on her feet with a shake of her head to clear it. Fists raised as the referee checks her over. Allowing the fight to continue with Rachel taking a deep breath to hide her annoyance at the situation.

Back at it they go but Michelle hasn't much sting to her punches. A right lands square into her swollen left eye to make her cry out. BACK ON THE ROPES GOES MICHELLE AS HER GUARD DIPS AND IN COMES THE TOWEL! MICHELLE'S CORNER HAVE SEEN ENOUGH WITH THE REFEREE STEPPING IN TO SAVE THE PROUD RODRIGUEZ FROM UNNECESSARY PUNISHMENT!

Winner Rachel McAdams TKO Round 5

After:
Rachel gets the impressive win as she stops the momentum of Michelle in its tracks. Michelle argues with the referee as she leans on the ropes. Needing it to be pointed out that it was her coach who threw in the towel. Michelle clearly wanting to go out on her shield but needing help back to her stool as it's clear she was just going to be beaten down to the canvas.

Getting cleaned up by her coach. Michelle looks lost in thought as she was on the rise and yet here she is finding herself looking at the canvas wondering where it went wrong. Her coach trying to console her and make sure she knows she can overcome this defeat and be back on the winning path.

The opposite corner of course is a lot more happier with tonight. Rachel admits that Michelle hits hard and is tough like old leather boots. She takes a drink of water and pours the rest over her head after getting her gloves off. Virginia telling Rachel how proud she was of her not letting herself be bullied around in there, making Rachel smile as she nods.

Both women come to the center of the ring for the final result. Michelle nods when Rachel's left arm is raised in victory. Michelle offers a fist bump which is accepted by Rachel, showing Michelle's class even as the result stings. With Rodriguez leaving the ring so McAdams can have the spotlight.

The winner blowing kisses to the crowd as she does a lap of honour. Her supporters chanting her surname as Rachel smiles to them. This was a big night for Rachel being in the "Big Apple" and maybe showing her name deserves to be right up their in cougar title contenders.
