Intro:
Now it's time for our first semi final of this year's World Cup. England's Lily James and Eiza Gonzalez got past their first test tonight. Which one of them cam move a step closer to the Cup?

Earlier tonight Lily defeated Miranda Kerr to advance by knockout after six rounds of action. Eiza meanwhile had a personal battle to start the evening off when she took on former stablemate Adriana Lima. She would vanquish her rival with a stunning knockout in five rounds.

Both women have been given a break as they waited to come back out to fight. The crowd in the Suncorp Stadium is hyped up are the interval. With pictures of Lily and Eiza on the big screen.

First out comes Lily to a much better response then she got earlier on. Miranda's words for the crowd to not boo Lily seem to have paid off as she walks down the aisle with her coach Angelica Bridges without much worry. The actress is happy to be back in the ring, wearing white sports bra and gloves. St.georges cross pattern trunks and gloves, hair tied into a ponytail. This time as she climbs into the ring, she shadow boxes to get into the zone.

Eiza walks out with Natascha McElhone behind her. She taps her chest at the top of the aisle with her right glove, kissing it before she begins to head to the ring. She steps inside wearing white sports bra, Mexican flag pattern trunks, green shoes, her hair is braided. Eiza bows to each side of the ring from her corner to show her thanks to her fans.

Both walk to the center of the ring. The instructions are read out by the referee as both women shake their arms to keep them loose. Once the instructions are done they touch gloves quickly with each other and jog back to their corners. The bell rings to start 10 rounds of lightweight action.

Round 1:
Both come out the gates quickly with a few flurries of punches, sometimes hitting each others gloves as they look to strike out and gain control right away. A missed straight by Eiza leaves her open to a left hook to the body. Lily catches her with a straight into her face when she backs off to reset.

Holding the center of the ring as she works Eiza around it. Lily is in gear by the looks of it as she switches her punches nicely to keep Eiza on the back foot. Eiza landing several crisp shots back, problem for her is Lily is landing two punches to her one. Meaning she can't ward off the English fighter.

Lily lands a few more strikes to the body of Eiza as she looks to break her down. Eiza swings back over the top as they exchange. Late in the round Eiza lands a left hook on the jaw of her opponent as Lily drops her guard a little too low. Eiza driving Lily to the ropes but the bell dings to end the round before she can really unload. Eiza takes a breath to keep her cool as this wasn't the start she wanted to the bout.

Round 2:
Back at it they go with Eiza being more forceful on the inside. Whacking away at the torso of Lily as she looks to break her down. Lily stands her ground as they body up to exchange, bumping forearms to the delight of the crowd. Lily nudges back Eiza and lands a left/right cross combo to Angelica's joy.

But Lily can't get too comfortable as she misses with a jab as Eiza sidesteps and lands a straight to the cheek of Lily. A left cross slams into her belly button to make the actress groan out. Eiza herds Lily back into a neutral corner to be able to fire in hooks as she digs her toes into the canvas.

Grabbing onto Eiza. Lily looks annoyed with herself for getting pinned in the corner. They split apart with Lily dancing out the corner. While Lily lands some crisp straights, she is backed onto the ropes after a jab lands on her chest with a looping right hook landing on her cheek. The round comes to an end with Gonzalez showing her fighting spirit to not let a bad first round get her down.

Round 3:
Lily doesn't want to be drawn into a slugging fight like the last round. Moving more side to side to make a harder target for her opponent. Eiza not landing as clean now, while getting caught flush at times through her mitts into her gorgeous face. Soon a cut opens on the bridge of her nose from a right cross.

Still Eiza shows her toughness to step inside to land two short right hooks to the body. Lily needing to nudge back Eiza, she gets caught with a looping left hook to her jaw to turn her head. Eiza pressing Lily to the ropes with Lily holding onto her quickly to not take much damage.

Less then a minute to go. Lily sidesteps a overly keen Eiza to land a counter right on her jaw. A jab/straight combo snaps back Eiza's head. Eiza getting heated as she tries to swing her way back into control and instead eats several counter punches into her face. The round ends with Eiza knowing she threw the round away in that final minute. Natascha telling Eiza to keep her focus.

Round 4:
Back out they come with eyes locked behind their gloves. Eiza using more feints now as both try to create better angles to strike from. Lily landing several crisp jabs but getting hit with a few looping punches to her cheeks to keep her from getting too far out of Eiza's firing line.

A feint allows Eiza to duck under a straight and come over the top with an overhand left that causes a mouse to form under Lily's right eye. Lily trying to protect it allows Eiza more room to work. Eiza drilling more punches into the body of Lily as she crowds her onto the ropes. They scruffily grapple along the ropes as Lily hangs onto Eiza. Referee needed to push them apart.

Resuming the action with Lily covering up more tightly. Eiza is landing more punches in bunches. Lily firing single punches out her guard as she moves around the perimeter of the ring. The round comes to a close with Eiza tapping her gloves together as she returns to her corner. Lily gets her swelling worked on by her corner as Angelica tells her not to get too defensive.

Round 5:
Lily looks to heed her coaches advice but as soon as a jab lands on that mouse, she winces and covers up. Eiza pushes her onto the ropes, where she fires in big punches till she is grabbed onto. Eiza hissing "fight me" at Lily. Getting frustrated at being held by her opponent. They are pushed apart by the ref.

Exchanging as Lily looks to use her footwork to keep out of real danger. Eiza being the aggressor, landing some nice combos as she looks the more confident fighter at the moment. Lily does keep striking her around her nose, making Eiza hiss as more blood drips off the end of her nose from her cut.

Ducking under a left hook. Lily swings in two right hooks under the ribs of Eiza, just missing with an overhand left as Eiza leans her head back in time. It does show that James isn't quitting this fight anytime soon. With both trading around the center of the ring as Eiza can't overrun Lily as she'd hope. At the bell both walk back to their corners getting patched up. Eiza looks to have the lead on most people's scorecards but Lily is far from throwing the towel in.

Round 6:
Exchanging stiff single punches as Lily moves around the ring. Eiza looks to be gritting her mouthpiece each time she gets hit on her nose. Striking towards Lily's right eye but that becomes a little predictable as Lily blocks with her right and lands several left hooks out her guard.

Slipping a left hook Lily lands an uppercut that sends Eiza onto her heels. Eiza trying to swing back but Lily starts to overwhelm her with punches landing flush into her face. Natascha looks ready to pull her hair out as she sees her fighter being bullied back to the ropes. A LEFT HOOK LANDS FLUSH ON THE TEMPLE OF EIZA! DOWN SHE GOES TO HER LEFT SIDE!

Lily walks to the neutral corner taking a breath to keep her cool. 1....2....3... Eiza groans as she rolls to her back. 4....5....6... Blinking hard as she puts her right glove on her forehead. 7....8... Angelica has her fists clenched hoping Eiza doesn't rise up. 9....10 she gets her wish as Eiza is counted out!

Winner Lily James KO Round 6

After:
Lily wins this bruising encounter and is in the final of the first ever FCBA World Cup! She smiles but is quick to return to her corner to ask about her right eye. It doesn't look too bad but the swelling under it will be a worry for them. Angelica tells her to just focus on one more fight tonight.

All the while Eiza has to be helped up by her coach after a few moments, where Eiza admits things are looking dizzy for her. Eiza fights back tears as she thought after being Adriana that she could show that she belongs in the elite conversation. Instead she has to lick her wounds as she sits on her stool getting her cut patched up.

As Eiza is going to leave the ring. Lily jogs over to check on her, they share a few words about the fight before a quick embrace as Lily tells Eiza she is tough. Eiza wishing her luck in the final with Lily thanking her for the kind words.

Eiza is helped up the aisle as her legs are still a little weak. It will be interesting to see if she looks at tonight as a success to be proud of or will be disappointed she didn't make it all the way. Eiza has talent, it is just being consistent is the biggest issue that has plagued her career.

Inside the ring Lily gets her left hand raised in victory. She doesn't celebrate too much beyond blowing a few kisses to the crowd. Knowing that she still has either Ming Xi or Valentina Fradegrada standing in her way of glory tonight. Lily steps out the ring with Angelica to her right. She has time to rest and recuperate before that final.
