Intro:
We kick off the action here on Copacabana's beach with two local models duking it out. Cindy Mello and Bruna Lirio haven't won a fight yet in their young careers. One of them will try to prove they deserve the respect of their nation.

Cindy lost her two fights against Alexis Ren and Caroline Kelley, while Bruna lost to Georgia Mae Gibbs and to Lily Aldridge. The issue for Cindy arguably is that she hasn't fought in five years, that's compared to Bruna's three years out the ring.

The ring posts have been set directly into the sand. The crowd are in bleachers set opposite each other as the judges table is set up on one side of the ring.

First onto the beach comes Cindy with her coach behind her. She is wearing a green bikini with matching gloves, hair tied into a ponytail as she nods to her coach as they tell her she has got this.

Bruna now walks to the ring tapping her yellow gloves together. She has a yellow bikini with blue trim, hair tied into a ponytail too as she gets inside the ring. Bruna takes a breath to relax any butterflies she has as she stares over at her opponent.

Both women walk to the middle of the ring for the final instructions to be read out. After the referee is finished both fighters nod and touch gloves. No animosity between them but that could easily change. They both return to their corners ready to start 10 rounds of lightweight action.

Round 1:
There's a loud cheer as the two local girls come out to fight. Some respect shown early as they box behind their jabs, a few rights flick out but don't land, instead they are definitely feeling each other out in the opening minute.

It's Cindy that breaks the deadlock as she lands a straight square into the chest of Bruna, who grits her mouthpiece and takes a sweeping left hook on her jaw. Bruna covers up as Cindy drives into her with body shots the order of the today for her. Bruna needing to nudge off her opponent to create some space to throw a jab/straight back at Mello.

But Cindy is the one outworking her opponent, nudging her back and landing more punches in bunches to her opponent. Bruna covering up more tightly as she is feeling the pressure. The round ends with a great start for Cindy, she waves to the crowd on her way to her corner, confidence flowing.

Round 2:
Bruna taps her gloves together before she engages with Cindy. Both kicking up sand as they box around the center of the ring. More punches landing through guards now as they look more comfortable. More so Cindy after her strong start to the fight, stepping in at times to work her opponents body.

Problem for Cindy is she leaves her left glove low, eating a right hook onto her ear makes her eyes go wide, she wasn't expecting that. Bruna uses the opening to pile in the heat with straight punches that knocks back Cindy's head. Bruna getting her supporters roaring as she walks down Cindy into a neutral corner. Cindy needing to clinch up as she takes a few solid hooks around her guard.

After they are split up a furious Cindy comes back at Bruna. Both nearly clash bodies as they exchange. Ending up clinched up again with both trying to dig their feet into the sand to overpower their national rival. The round soon ends with both giving the other a tense stare before walking back to their corners.

Round 3:
Drilling in more straight punches to faces. Bruna is starting to get into a good flow here as she steps back at times when Cindy swings in hooks. Cindy looking a little frustrated as her first round success hasn't led to more as she hoped. Instead it is Bruna growing stronger as she laces Cindy to her face with two punch combos.

But Cindy isn't going to be held back that easily, dipping under a straight so she can step inside to hammer in short body shots. Bruna finding herself being pressed against the ropes, pulling Cindy into a front headlock to slow her down. A few insults are exchanged in their native tongue to show they are getting heated.

Broken up and resuming fighting, Cindy again makes the mistake of dipping her left glove too low, taking a right cross on her chin to twist her head. Bruna coming on strong as she lands a flurry of punches into the face of Cindy to make her stumble back to the ropes. Where Cindy covers up as Bruna looks to hurt her badly now. The bell dings to end the round with Lirio walking back to her corner flexing her right arm for her supporters. Cindy has a little swelling under her left eye from that flurry of punches. She sits stewing on her stood as she stares at her opponent.

Round 4:
Resuming with Bruna looking the more solid fighter at range. Both drilling in their punches but Bruna is using her space well to dodge some of the bigger punches coming her way. Cindy's cheeks are slowly reddening up as she keeps getting caught.

That's till Cindy dips under a straight to land a right into the stomach of Bruna. An overhand right slams into the cheek of Lirio to twist her head. Cindy drives Bruna into the ropes, swinging in short hooks and trying to break down her opponent. Bruna trying to fight her way off the ropes and is getting nudged back on them.

Holding onto Cindy to stop her assault. They are broken apart with Bruna staring hard at Cindy. They fight on with both bodying up to exchange. Sweat causing them to gleam as they are barking in effort. The round ending with them walking back to their corners. Bruna getting told by her coach to keep her head as they have seen her crumble before. Cindy tapping her toes as she looks fired up.

Round 5:
Out they come with Cindy looking to put the pressure on her opponent. Bruna though is keeping her head, soon catching Cindy with a straight into the left eye of her opponent to make her cry out. Cindy lands a follow up with a right hook on the temple of Mello to cause her to stumble backwards.

Cindy looks shaky now as she moves around the outside part of the ring. Bruna lands a left hook to set up a right hook. Cindy is sagging a little in the ropes. UPPERCUT CATCHES CINDY ON HER CHIN AND DOWN SHE COLLAPSES TO HER FACE IN THE SAND!

Bruna walks to the neutral corner taking in the whistles and cheers from the crowd. 1....2....3....4... Cindy moves her right arm to feel for ropes, 5....6....7... Head turning to the right as she is looking for a rope to drag herself up. 8....9... She is that dazed she doesn't realise she isn't near the ropes. 10 it's all over! Bruna wins!

Winner Bruna Lirio KO Round 5

After:
Bruna walks around the ring with a few tears of joy running down her cheeks. This is the best day of her boxing career so far by a country mile, her first win and doing it on home soil or sand to be precise. Her coach gives her a hug when she returns to her corner.

While Cindy has to be helped up onto her stool after being checked over. She comes back to reality soon enough, cupping her face in her gloves as she cries, the pain of defeat proving too much as this was always going to be an emotional bout.

After getting her gloves off Bruna sees the state of her opponent. Walking over to Cindy, Bruna puts her hand on her back as clearly she feels guilty. Cindy looks up out her gloves with red teary eyes. Bruna telling her "you'll get a win soon enough, you have talent, it just was my day" Cindy nods and gets up on jelly legs to hug Bruna, showing there no bad feelings between them.

Cindy is helped out the ring afterwards. She is still a little shaky but she waves to the fans and promises to them she will get that first win. She had spells where she showed what she can do but that leaky defence needs improving, dipping her gloves down led to her defeat.

In the ring Bruna looks excited as she gets her right arm raised in victory. She gives out a loud "yes!" We she is overjoyed. Her supporters standing and applauding her, this has been a long time coming for them as well as her.

Bruna bows kisses to both sets of bleachers and gives a kiss to the camera with a chuckle. Leaving the ring moments later to walk to the changing rooms. It has been shown in the past that the first win can be the hardest to get, it can also lead to fighting going on long runs of success, will this be the case here?
